24.01.2022 Check out the new fountain at Victoria Park, next time you stay with us make sure you check it out in person. ;)
21.01.2022 Natural Disaster's are mother nature's way of reminding us she is still in control. Bushfire's, for example, leave a mark on a persons soul for the rest of thei...r lives. It can take their land, their home, their belongings and their lives. The lasting effects of a Bushfire will mentally ruin a person, but thankfully nature will often revegetate quickly after such a disaster and insurance can recover some of the loss. The land mass that it can cover can be extensive and the hardest part of a bushfire is watching it miss this place, and miss that place but take everything you've got. The worst part is - this image isn't the aftermath of a Bushfire.. its the everyday reality of Drought! Drought does the same as a Bushfire. It takes your land, your stock, your belongings (because you can't afford to have them anymore) and eventually, in some cases, can mean the taking of someone's life due to depression. It will miss one region and completely ruin another... all within a few hundred km's of each other. The land mass that a drought can cover is immeasurable. Drought in South Australia means high prices of feed and difficult Government Grants to apply for support. It means watching trucks of donated hay go constantly East and very little actually stay in the state. There is no insurance to help cover the loss and Pastoralists who have struggled for years are trying to stay strong as we watch millions of dollars being donated to Bushfire Fundraisers from the public and very little financial support being given to those going through Drought. It means selling your livestock or watching them slowly die in the paddocks due to malnutrition and freight costs being too high - even the flora dies back to bare sticks and dust. It means cleaning your house almost daily from the inches of dirt settling on surfaces after yet another Dust Storm and another silent dinner around the table because your family is under so much financial and mental stress and has likely spent their children's Boarding School tuition on keeping what's left of the property alive. Whole communities can collapse because the Pastoralists can't afford to use the local trade anymore. The effects of a Bushfire are traumatising, yet the effects of a Drought are just as bad and can last so much longer. #dontforgetaboutthedrought #skytrekwillowsprings #willowspringsskytrek #skytrek4x4 #skytrek #willowsprings #willowspringsstation #stationstayssa #stationstay #flindersrangesandoutback #flindersranges #naturallymajestic #seeaustralia #seesouthaustralia #wikicamps #openforbusiness #bookthemout

17.01.2022 Travel in South Australia, including the Flinders Ranges is now heavily impacted by the COVID-19 situation. Typically, at this time of year, we look forward to ...welcoming guests to the region for the school holidays, Easter break or a weekend getaway. Unfortunately because of travel restrictions and the Government urging everyone to stay home and to re-think their travel plans. For now, we urge you to follow the advice of the State Government and to stay at home, which means you won’t be able to experience Peterborough's generous hospitality, but rest assured when this is over, we’ll be ready to welcome you back. In times like these, let’s support local! Now more than ever the community needs your support. It's still possible to lend your support to businesses and our families behind them. Foodland has a delivery service available as does Home Hardware, 229 on Main is still open, as is Peterborough Takeaway, Duck Duck Goose (8 - 10am for takeaway), Peterborough newsagency, and many more. Each and every purchase will bring a smile to the face of a Peterboroughian. Minimal contact. Maximum impact. Support local. Love Peterborough
