25.01.2022 And some more great resources from the author of What to do when you worry too much....an audio book offered free at the moment....
25.01.2022 In response to the Corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic, RCP has taken the steps to start utilising Telehealth services as an alternative method for counselling sessions. Currently, we are still predominantly seeing clients face to face with precautions in place to help keep everyone safe. This involves appropriate social distancing within the clinic, soap to wash your hands (20 seconds), waiting room in your car and screening of clients who may be at risk (and are told they can...not enter). At this stage, we will continue to do face to face sessions, with safety behaviours, until told otherwise by the government. Psychology is classified as an essential health service throughout lockdowns. However, some of you may wish to transfer over to Telehealth now. You may choose this platform if you are: -immune compromised -are self isolating -are infected -are at risk of being infected -prefer the convenience -have an immediate family member at risk or infected. The benefits of utilising this technology are: -it prevents the possible spread of the virus -it is convenient -no travel involved -kids can treat this like a home visit (online!), showing the therapist their favourite pet, toy or giving us a tour of their home. -you can even log on in your PJs-no judgement! As long as youre comfortable . -and most importantly, it keeps the continuity of your mental health treatment. Your mental health is still very important during this time! In order to utilise this service you would need: - a phone line that is in a good reception area, or have access to quality internet and a tablet/phone/computer/laptop that has a camera and microphone. - a quiet room or space away from distracting or noisy family members including siblings of children. -The software is via the secure platform of Zoom. You would need to download this app and will be sent an invite into your appointment time. You just have to click the link. Research has found that Telehealth does not significantly affect the quality of the therapeutic relationship or rapport (although it may feel a bit weird at first!). So for all those amazing clients that are self isolating, please consider this as a possible alternative for your treatment. If you are interested in this technology for yours or your childs appointments, please contact RCP on 0439 815 244 for more information.

20.01.2022 During the current pandemic it is unfortunately a RCP business policy that all adults and children visiting the clinic must wear a mask to help keep everyone visiting the clinic after you safe. Please have a read of the attached article on how to help your little one get used to wearing a mask. Often they just need some gentle reminding to keep it on. We usually find that the less fussing about it, the easier it is to take their focus off of the mask and keep themselves in the moment and on the task at hand....

07.01.2022 Is your child an over achieving perfectionist? Very driven and often seen as the good, compliant child, these kids and teens can suffer in silence. Teaching them that their self esteem isnt based around their achievements or what other people think of them can be a real challenge. Aim for a balanced lifestyle that doesnt revolve around achievements. Here are some warning signs of overachieving perfectionism in your child:
05.01.2022 Before you get your child assessed for dyslexia, you will need to have your child undergo at least 6 months of science backed intervention to see how they respond. Below are some ideas from Dyslexia Victoria Support re scientifically backed intervention...:
