21.01.2022 CALLING ALL LGBTQIA+ LEGENDS 16 - 25 living in Wellington Shire Council I am stoked to be facilitating FREE storytelling workshops starting on ...December 4 as part of a HEY grant. There will be four workshops in total and then the fun part - performing your story to your mates and fam. I believe whole heartedly in the power of storytelling. Everyone's story matters, so it makes me all sad and sooky thinking about the lack of stories out there from young and queer Gippslanders living in my backyard. It'll be fun as all heck and you can perform whatever story... whichever way you'd like. If you are curious shoot me a message and I'll tell you more and please share around. Register below!

15.01.2022 This morning, the Victorian Government introduced a Bill to outlaw LGBTQ+ conversion practices. These harmful and damaging practices that attempt to change or s...uppress a person’s gender identity or sexual orientation will be prohibited by the Bill. This Bill sends a powerful message that LGBTQ+ people are whole and valid just as they are, and establishes powerful mechanisms to deal with incredibly harmful practices that LGBTQ+ people endure across Victoria. We hope that the Bill will have broad support in the Victorian Parliament and we see the passage of this world-leading legislation. While no law can fix a complex social problem on its own, this Bill is a great step towards ending the incredible harm caused by attempted LGBTQ+ conversion practices. The Bill has been introduced after comprehensive consultation, and is being welcomed by survivor groups. Full media release here: https://equalityaustralia.org.au/world-leading-lgbtq-conve/

13.01.2022 As a young person I was given the worst messages about being LGBTIQ+. The world, and the church, tried to suppress and change my sexuality and gender expression.... I would never have believed back then that I would be part of a government that is committed to banning conversion practices. This #QueerStrong message is for my 15-year-old self. Thank you for deciding to stick around. Thank you for your commitment to this world, which I still carry within me. And my #FindingStrong now, as the Victorian Commissioner for LGBTIQ+ Communities, comes from those communities. Doing this role is a privilege. I not only do it for you, and for 15-year-old me, I draw strength from each of you and your stories. #FindingStrong #QueerStrong

10.01.2022 No one should be made to feel broken because of their sexuality or gender identity, and that's why the Victorian Greens welcome the news that harmful sexuality ...and gender identity conversion practices will soon be outlawed across the state. This follows years of calls from the Greens and LGBTQA+ survivors to stamp out the bigoted practices, and we look forward to voting in support of the state government’s bill next year. Today is a win for equality and a day to celebrate with the rainbow community right across our state.

01.01.2022 The city of Ballarat is a welcoming community that supports social inclusion and equality. It's at the heart of our commitment to provide a safe, healthy, conn...ected and respectful place for all to live. With that in mind I pay tribute to Transgender Awareness Week to show my support for our diverse community. I stand tall and proud with Ballarat's LGBTIQA+ community, just as I do for the rest of our city. Being a welcoming place takes ongoing work, and it means calling out the bad behaviour of a very vocal few. It's not OK to abuse another person or target others based on age, race, religion, gender or any other characteristic. There's much we can all do to improve our workplaces, our sports clubs, services and all other groups in breaking down barriers of discrimination and opening the door to greater understanding. It starts with care and respect, and it blossoms into a city that's the envy of others.

01.01.2022 Beige bus shelters have been transformed into vibrant works of art, as part of Youth Week festivities.
