19.01.2022 Hi All Epicacti Lovers... I thought to write a litttle blog on compact basket Epicacti cultivars. A few weeks ago I got asked by one of my customers on "what Epiphyllums are great basket performers?" So I went through all my cultivars and came up with around 50 that stand out to me as great basket performers. ... A few of these may start off with upright rigid new growth but cascade as they mature. The others grow similar to German Empress where they cascade from start - all neat, tidy, cascading basket cultivars. Most of these are from NZ hybridiser, Carol Rogerson, whom specialized in creating prolific compact coffee table cultivars and prolific compact hanging basket cultivars. There are probably a dozen or so others in my collection that I have overlooked but will keep an eye out over the next several months while some are still maturing in growth and add these to my list. Here are the prolific, compact, cascading Epiphyllums that I find perform well in baskets: Acapulco Sunset Agatha (when mature) Anguliger Fishbone Cactus Ballet Angel Bright Spark Cabrillo Candy Crush Chiapora Nayada Cryptocereus Rik Rak (when mature) Djonnaise (when mature) Elven Princess Flash of Passion German Empress Gold Charm Golden Opportunity Heritage Rose Hot Chick In Love Jewel of Happiness Jovial Kiwi Honey Bright (when Mature) Kiwi Honey Child, (when mature) Kiwi Honey Gem Kiwi Honey Love Kiwi Oscar Winner (when matured) Lassenby’s Hybrid Lingering Kiss Love Shack Magic Rosette Mary K Meadow Rose News Flash Nikola Marie Heritage Rose Macranthus - Disocactus Magical Mango Marie Joyce Nikola Marie Outrageous Fortune Peach Butterfly Pink Snowflake Pink Sprite Princess Betty Princess Linda Quartz Movement Raspberry Swirl Romantic Night Stephannie Miranda Sugar Plum Fairy Sunny Honey Tropical Fiesta Twilight Dancer Vanilla Dream Whispers of Spring Zorina

18.01.2022 Last winter we didn't get much rainfall here, so I have had to turn off our retic and hand water all nursery plants and trees since December, as we only have a large well. We aim to get a bore put in next month Anyway, so to save on water I have given each potted Epiphyllum a good dollop of cow manure mixed witha little dynamic lifter and a good watering. This should make them happy for a while and put my mind at ease as we still have a few months ahead to go before we get the first lot of good rainfalls.

08.01.2022 By the end of June, 2020 I will have made available most of my Epiphyllums that are currently "Out of Stock" on my website: Rainbow Daylilies www.rainbowdaylilies.com From the start of June, I will be going through my whole epiphyllum nursery and rearranging them all in alphabetical order from scratch, as I have a few pots of the same cultivars due to making cuttings over the past few years, that are placed elsewhere. We also had some bad winds/storms come through there a... couple of weeks ago, that have misplaced a few pots which need tidying up. This month, Ma,y I have been concentrating on all my Tall Bearded Irises, weeding and orders. So next month I will be concentrating and sorting out all my Epiphyllums, more weeds and orders. Thanks for your patience, as I know a lot of you are waiting on certain cultivars. Kindest Regards Shelli Green See more
