25.01.2022 Our latest resource is designed to support parents and caregivers in using protective behaviours and child safety programs with their children and young people. It has simple tips like - Learning to ask for help - Building a network of trusted adults both inside and outside of the immediate family, who can assist your child if they need help.... Safety signals/Warning signs - Encouraging the use of instinct, body-awareness and personal sense of safety as an important protective strategy. Bystander behaviour - Fostering respect for and respect in the treatment of others and supporting your child in building skills to become an ally to those who may be vulnerable. https://www.rainbowfamilies.com.au/helping_kids_to_stay_safe

21.01.2022 Unfortunately we need to cancel our Sydney playgroup tomorrow due to the new COVID restrictions. Hopefully it'll be a short break and we can get the toys out again next week!
20.01.2022 Stuck at home with the kids???? We have some excellent activities you can do with your kids in lockdown. Our preschoolers pack has some beautiful colouring-in pages for younger kids to help them understand that their feeling matter. Our Primary School resource is full of activities that explore child safety in fun engaging ways. ... And for High Schoolers the self led activities look at risks, boundaries, and what respectful relationships look like. https://www.rainbowfamilies.com.au/helping_kids_to_stay_safe

20.01.2022 Our culture doesn’t always leave space for men to express inner struggle. Gay, bi or trans men in our community: it’s ok to talk, to be vulnerable, seek community and connection. That’s why we’re here. #mensmentalhealthweek

11.01.2022 Some good news from our friends at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium. Earlier in the year we had a special drag story time and visit with Sphen and Magic - it was such a fun day for our families. We can’t wait to do it again soon!
11.01.2022 Studies show that autistic people are significantly more likely than the general population to identify as LGBTQ+ and the intersection with autism shapes the life experience of many members of our community. We have started a new Facebook group for neurodiverse families. It embraces neurodiversity more generally and extends to neurodiverse adults, parents of neurodiverse children and those who support them. We hope that it will grow into a safe, nurturing space to share experiences and make connections. https://www.rainbowfamilies.com.au/neurodiverse_families_gr

06.01.2022 Gender equality experts Grace Papers and Pride In Diversity have joined forces to help workplaces to better understand needs and intersectional experiences of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) working parents. They need your help. You are invited to take part in a short survey that will help them understand how support for working parents can be improved to ensure that it is inclusive of all family situations.... Your responses to this survey will inform a research report that outlines recommended best-practice inclusive parenting approaches (policies, practices and programs) for organisations, so that the LGBTQ+ community has a positive, supportive and inclusive parenting experience. Complete the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6JY5X2G
