24.01.2022 Hey guys I hope you're all having a lovely weekend even in this mad weather! Only a few more days until our next women's mental health meet-up again. We have secured a permanent venue now in the Flourish Centre in Stirling which is a beautiful women's wellness centre. If you are struggling at the moment and would like a confidential, non-judgmental and supportive environment of like-minded women or even if you just want some 'me' time and would like to meet other women, com...e along to this group. We just start the evening with a topic and have a chat/ share if anyone wants to and then we set up an action plan, do some breathwork and a lovely short meditation at the end. 24.01.2022 Hey guys as Im sure some of you know already, it os national r u OK day and I just want to say that I am here today and EVERY OTHER DAY if anyone ever needs help with anything or even if you just need to get s@#t off your chest because even just talking out loud about something lifts a burden too We all need to get rid of the stigma around mental health. If you have a sore back you go to a Physio, if you have a sore head then talk to someone it is noooo different!! We are... all in this together, we need to all be here for each other. We as humans are built for connection and community and thats where we thrive. Lets set up a community everywhere we go in life... Work, home, friendships, sports, we all need to feel like we belong somewhere and I struggled with this for half my life and it drove me to rock bottom and suicidal depression numerous times. If I can come back from that SO CAN YOU!!!!! Lets try and avoid getting to that point by making sure we all feel like we belong somewhere because WE DO!!!! I love you all and you all matter dispite what you tell yourselves sometimes. 22.01.2022 FORGIVENESS Make a commitment to forgive yourself every single day. This is very powerful and we dont do it enough (if ever!) We are human and that means we are going to make mistakes all the time and that is OK. ... We MUST NOT judge ourselves every time we get something wrong. It will get us nowhere and it is counterproductive in the long run. Whether it is a task you get wrong or a friend you hurt or whatever it is, just accept you made a mistake, learn from it and do better next time and if you f#@k up again then try again. We need to be kinder to ourselves every day and our lives will be so much easier. Having an inner mean girl is going to get you nowhere. FORGIVE YOURSELF for missing your friends birthday because you were partying the night before. FORGIVE YOURSELF for saying horrible things to your parents. FORGIVE YOURSELF for stealing when you were younger. FORGIVE YOURSELF for whatever you need to let go of. NO EXCUSES!! It is holding you down and needs to be released. Guilt and shame eat away at us and manifest in the body as disease if they are not released. I spent many many years judging myself every time I fell down but it got me nowhere. I was making myself miserable and making life so hard for myself and wasnt getting anywhere any faster by doing it! I want you to know that IT IS ABSOLUTELY OK TO MAKE MISTAKES!! 22.01.2022 I AM THANKFUL I am thankful for so many things in my life right now. I have a beautiful roof over my head, yummy food every day, nice clothes to wear, a good circle of friends, a career I love but most importantly I am so thankful for the feeling of peace and wholeness I have inside me today and most days. I didnt always have this. When I was out of balance and I was drinking and taking a lot of drugs and making all the wrong life choices, I despised who I was and I w...as surrounded by a toxic and painful environment but the people and events that have caused me the most pain have taught me the most valuable (and hardest) lessons and I wouldnt change a thing because I wouldnt be the strong person I am today without every hard journey I have been on. For this I am the most thankful because I have grown a strength I didnt know I was capable of, and a huge understanding of my mistakes but also an even bigger appreciation for all the small but significant things life has to offer everyday that I would have otherwise ignored! So if you are going through anything particularly hard or painful right now, please know this too shall pass and it is giving you strength and teaching you invaluable lessons that you may not even be aware of right now but you will eventually look back at it with an aha moment or two. Please try and look at any hard situations you come across and ask yourself what is this teaching me? What patterns have I got to change in my life and also what am I thankful for today because no matter how s#$t life gets we ALWAYS have something to be thankful for. Someone somewhere is wishing they have some of the things you have. If you start with these questions you can work your way up from there I also just want you to know that no matter how bad you may ever feel there are so many tools out there to help you get better so never lose hope. I want you to say it every day as many times a day as you can and really feel the feeling when you say it. The pic above is of my swim crew taken just before we braved the cold water at 6am the other morning. The coffee and chats afterwards are always my favourite part. Such wholesome beautiful conversations surrounded by amazing people who are all on the journey to better themselves. I am lucky to have such amazing people around me. 17.01.2022 Lets talk about morning routines! Do you have a morning routine? And if so, what is it? My morning routine consists of affirmations, gratitude and some mornings I do 10 mins meditation. This takes 15 mins max or 5 mins on the mornings I dont do meditation and 2/3 mornings a week I get up even earlier for a cold dip in the ocean. The morning dips are my favourite part of the week. The early morning hugs, chats, jumping off the jetty and the warm coffee afterwards and all be...fore work!!!! I have so much energy in work after I get in the ocean. If you can get in the cold water somewhere thats great, but if you cant then what is 5-15 mins out of your morning to start your day right. Go to bed 15 mins earlier and set your alarm 15 min earlier the next morning its that simple!! You can add in whatever you like too like yoga or dancing or reading etc but spending those few mins in the morning on being present makes a huge difference to how your day/ week/ month will go! Win the morning win the day If you could even start with just thinking of 5 things you are grateful for and saying " I love myself" every morning that alone will have a big impact on your mindset for the day. 16.01.2022 A MANTRA is a set of affirmations (positive sayings) that we repeat over and over daily until we start believing them. They reprogram our subconscious mind and change any negative beliefs we have, to more positive ones. How have you been going with all your mantras/ affirmations every day?? How have you been feeling since you started saying them? They have completely changed my life for the better I love and appreciate myself more and more everyday.... 13.01.2022 YOUR TRAUMA IS NOT YOUR FAULT BUT YOUR HEALING IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY What happened to you is not your fault. You did not ask for it and you certainly did not deserve it. No matter what you think, you DID NOT DESERVE IT. You are worthy of love and value no matter how many mistakes you make in life and no matter what happened in your childhood.... We may carry this unresolved pain and emotion through our whole adult life but then we are just repeating the cycle because whoever caused us the trauma in the first place was coming from a place of unprocessed pain too. This is why it is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to heal ourselves so we do not project our own troubles onto our loved ones. Yes it is hard sometimes to start to process what went wrong for us but it is necessary in order to heal and is it worth the short term discomfort?? YES!!!! 08.01.2022 "One loving thought at a time creates a miracle" Gabrielle Bernstein What a beautiful saying This is so true. We can sometimes get a bit overwhelmed by the end result and how far away it may seem when we are going through some changes in our lives but every marathon starts with just one step and then another and then another. ... Healing is a journey and we need to take our time with it because it is important to learn our lessons as we go along. We will ALWAYS make mistakes along the way and that is absolutely ok as long as we are learning from them. Do not beat yourself up, mistakes are part of being human It is so important that we love ourselves the whole way through for we are doing the best we can with the knowledge we have in this moment and when we learn more we can do better Give yourself credit for all the work you have done so far no matter how small and for everything you are doing right now for it is all in the right direction. Small steps lead to big steps and before you know it you will have made big changes KEEP GOING Be KIND to yourself. Be GENTLE with yourself. Be PROUD of yourself. 06.01.2022 SELF AWARENESS Self awareness is the first step to making any positive change in our lives because we need to be aware of our own bullshit and know what areas of our personality and our life in general are not working for us and therefore know where to make changes. However, when we are a few months or even a few years into our personal development journey it is still very important to keep checking in with ourselves and asking the same questions. ... How have I behaved today? How has that impacted my life? How has that impacted others? What is working for me and what is not? Are the choices I am making leading me towards my goals? No matter how much work we do on ourselves we can get knocked off track if we are not checking in. I have learnt this valuable lesson myself over the last few weeks. Work and life became really busy for me and sometimes life just gets in the way and I hadnt been spending that time checking in on myself and my own behaviours. I had been knocked off track and it was brought to my attention by the people around me. I am lucky enough to have people around me who are out straight but we do not always have those people around us and it has taught me a valuable lesson to be aware of my own words and actions and to be aware of when I am out of sync. After all I am only human and no matter how much I help other people to better themselves, I f@#k up too and that is totally OK! Life is constantly about learning and growing.
