16.01.2022 More time has passed without me posting here. Sometimes just getting 10 minutes a day for myself is very hard to do. Greg has had his second chemo treatment and so far with no real side effects. He is very tired for a few days afterwards but that is about all. He is more relaxed and energetic than I have seen him in two years. His cancer is not a 'progressive' type, his medical team called it a lazy cancer and after his second treatment his kidneys are beginning to function s...lightly better than before. Early days yet as there are 4 more treatments to go but it is looking much more positive now. Cancer treatment has advanced so much from what it used to be and is tailored to each persons type and strength of cancer. The medical team at the Brisbane Royal Hospital are amazing. I am over the long haul driving to take Greg there and return home the same day to look after the farm. I need to be back by 4pm to put all the animals away before the night predators come out. 6 weeks is the longest I have worked the farm on my own while Greg has been having treatment and my body sure knew it had been taxed. No frosts here this winter thankfully and it is looking like an early spring if my trees are anything to go by. The mulberry trees are sprouting new leaves already and also fruiting which is 3 months early, and my peach tree is blossoming. I have my garlic crop in and it is shooting up already. All good signs. Some good heavy rain would be welcome though. We are fine here because we use a bore to access an underground stream of beautiful water, but the large farms surrounding me are just so dry. Not a sign of any cattle on them for over a year now. Once green paddocks are just dust bowls now. See more

08.01.2022 A long time between posts again. Greg is doing so well with his chemo, he has had his third treatment with no major side effects as yet. We did have a hiccup last month after I drove him to Brisbane on the Sunday for his treatment on the Monday He called me and said he could not have chemo this time because his white cell count was to low. So I jumped back into the car and drove back to Brisbane to bring him home. That is the good news. Then he told me he needed injections pr...ovided by the hospital every day to increase his white cell count. Guess who had to inject him?? OMG I was shaking so much. But I did it. Sometimes there are things in your life that you think you just cannot do. But then, some how you find the inner strength that carries you on. On another note. I am selling out of my duck eggs every month in Bundaberg. Today Greg and I put bird netting over our mulberry and peach trees. The drought here is not only affecting us but all the wildlife as well. The birds are eating green berries and fruit. It has been two and a half years since we had a good rain fall. But my golden silky bantams are producing babies. Life always goes on. See more

07.01.2022 Great news after a long time without posting messages here. Greg is having his final chemo treatment tomorrow and is almost cancer free. His kidney function has risen from 17% to 47% and should continue to improve over time. Cancer is not a journey I would wish on anyone. It takes a huge toll on not only the person who has cancer but everyone close to them. I have had huge support from Greg's two sisters Robin and Wendy. When I felt I could no longer cope they have both been... there for me. The drought continues here in Queensland. No real rain for nearly 3 years now. Everywhere I go I see farmers with their ute's and trailers carrying 1,000 litre water pods searching for water or their ute's are filled with hay bales to try and save their few remaining animals. Sugar cane crops are dying due to the lack of water and so many farmers have their backs to the wall. They will lose everything if we do not get rain soon. Sadly, they are not being given any help from our Government. No farmers. No food. I am so lucky to have water here on my little patch of heaven. My fruit trees are thriving and I am eating nectarines and golden peaches that taste so sweet and delicious and so juicy. Plus our red paw paw and grapes. A huge crop of mulberries this year so I have been busy making mulberry jam. Delicious. I am entering this jam into the Childers show this year. Thanks for reading my posts. Love to you all out there. See more

05.01.2022 So much has happened in such a short time. I am feeling blown away. I drove Greg back to the Brisbane Royal Hospital today with the kind and loving support of his sister Robyn. Greg was supposed to under go chemo tomorrow. But now the medical team have decided to pump anti bodies into him to build up his immune system and chemicals to protect his kidneys before undergoing chemo. He has also been taking steroids for the last week. Greg was supposed to come home in two days. ...It will now be 5 days if he recovers without any side effects. What do I say? I have no words left to express the devastation this disease causes. So I will just share a few pics of good news from our farm here if I may. Despite the freezing cold nights here, the black sesame seeds are doing very well considering they are a summer crop. A few pods have ripened and opened. So the summer crop should be amazing. My Chinese cabbages are thriving and are just so huge. Red pawpaw are starting to ripen although very late in the season. If you read this page please 'like' it to show your support for me . I need you all right now. See more

01.01.2022 Again, a long time between posts. If this is retirement I want to go back into the workforce. At least you know when it is time to stop working. Greg is good and cancer free, although he has a lesion on his only good kidney. Due to the isolation restrictions he cannot travel to Brisbane for treatment. Hopefully that will all end soon and we can finish this journey.... Life on the farm continues, our fruit trees grow larger every day and the tree ripened fruit is so delicious. I have never liked store bought paw paw. I found it so tasteless. But my red paw paw is amazing. Tree ripened and so delicious. I eat one a day for lunch. The seeds have so many health benefits, anti inflamatery, immune boosting and cancer fighting. 5 seeds a day is all you need. My Toyota Starlet was recalled some months ago due to the faulty air bags. YES. My faithful little car had the bad air bags and was sent to be crushed. 6 weeks on a rural property with no car is no fun, after weeks of searching online I found my new car. A Honda Accord Anniversary edition with full leather interior. A train trip to Brisbane (which was 3 hours late) a quick inspection in a car park and it was mine. Driving out of the Brisbane CBD on a Friday night at 9pm in the dark is not my idea of fun. Why are the people in cities in so much rush? Now. Supermarkets. We all know that Coles and Woolies have been ripping us off for years right? American style peanut butter. Same container, same contents, similar labels. Aldi sells it for $1.89. Woolies sells it on 'SPECIAL'?? for $3.89 Check out the pics to follow. My one little bantam that survived the last fox attack produced 8 little babies. Sadly the fox returned and took her and one baby. I am now lovingly looking after her other babies. In my spare time I bought I bought a ride on mower. Take care everyone out there. Thanks for visiting my page. Bev
