25.01.2022 APR-009 The radiating lines of this Nevermade ring draw your attention to the centre stone by making it the middle of a beautiful symmetry. Guaranteed to have never been made for anyone - ever!

25.01.2022 AEM-004 Imagine a sea of diamonds surrounding a beautiful sapphire in this stunning Nevermade ring. Guaranteed to have never been made for anyone - ever!!

25.01.2022 Did you know.... many gems can have a star inside them? A natural phenomenon called asterism causes a beautiful star to float and move inside gems with this feature, when cut and polished into a cabochon. It reflects the way the crystal grew, and can occur in sapphires, rubies, rose quartz, spinels and garnets, as well as many others. A related phenomenon is a "catseye" stone, which only shows one arm of the star.

24.01.2022 AOV-002 Is this my most graceful design? I like to think so - I love it! I would love to make it for you! Guaranteed to have never been made for anyone - ever!

23.01.2022 APH-001 This lovely wedder set from my Nevermade Collection makes a perfect heart when both rings are worn together, or is a graceful statement of love if made as one ring. Guaranteed to have never been made for anyone - ever!

22.01.2022 ARD-017 The three individual rings of this Nevermade design look lovely on their own, and superb when worn together. Guaranteed to have never been made for anyone - ever!

22.01.2022 Did you know.... If you have a strand of natural pearls you need to treat them carefully! Dont get them wet - it will rot the thread, and penetrate into the holes in the pearls, damaging them. Also keep them away from perfume - it can damage the surface lustre. The best way to clean them is with a soft cloth, like microfibre, but not spectacle cloths, as they are impregnated with chemicals that will harm the pearls.

20.01.2022 Did you know....that the carat of your jewellery tells you how much pure gold it contains? As pure 24ct gold is too soft to use for most jewellery, it is alloyed with other metals to make it have different properties - different colour, different hardness etc. So if you look at a ring that is stamped 18ct, that means that 18 out of every 24 parts is pure gold. Similarly for 9ct - 9 parts in every 24 is pure gold. This explains why 18ct is a richer yellow colour - it has twice as much pure gold in it as 9ct does. This applies for white gold as well - they simply add different alloys to make it white, but the amount of pure gold must be as indicated. This also explains why rings are stamped 375, 750 etc - it's the decimal equivalent of the carat stamp - 9ct=375 (37.5% pure gold), 18ct=750 (75% pure gold) etc.

19.01.2022 Did you know.....that the recent trend of retailers selling stainless steel wedding rings for men is potentially quite dangerous? If you hurt your finger & are wearing a gold ring, you can get it cut off easily, either by a jeweller or, less desirably, at the hospital. Stainless steel is so hard that there is nothing that can easily cut it, so if it is urgent to remove the ring due to injury or swelling, you are really in trouble. It can only be cut by high-speed cutting discs by a jeweller, which is a long process (possibly an hour or more) and with great risks from heat and further injury by cutting. As for tungsten carbide and ceramic rings, they can't be cut at all - they have to be grabbed in a vise or with vise-grip pliers and crushed to make them fracture and break apart, not pleasant if your finger is very swollen!!

18.01.2022 Did you know....... People have long thought that testing a gem by seeing if it will scratch glass is proof it is a diamond. In fact any stone that is harder than glass will scratch it - this would include topaz, beryl (eg emerald, aquamarine etc), and sapphire. There are white forms of all these gems, and they will all scratch glass.

10.01.2022 Did you know.... The Cullinan diamond is the largest gem-quality diamond ever found, at 3106.75 carat (621.35 g, 1.37 lb) rough weight. About 10.5 cm (4.1 inches) long in its largest dimension, it was found on 26 January 1905, in the Premier No. 2 mine, near Pretoria, South Africa. The largest polished gem from the stone is named Cullinan I or the Great Star of Africa, and at 530.4 carats (106.08 g) was the largest polished diamond in the world until the 1985 discovery of the... Golden Jubilee Diamond, 545.67 carats (109.134 g), also from the Premier Mine. Cullinan I is now mounted in the head of the Sceptre with the Cross in the British Crown Jewels. The second largest gem from the Cullinan stone, Cullinan II or the Second Star of Africa, at 317.4 carats (63.48 g), is the fourth largest polished diamond in the world. Both gems are in the Crown Jewels of the United Kingdom. See more

09.01.2022 Did you know.... .... It is widely believed that if you wear a 9ct ring next to an 18ct ring then the 9ct one will wear away the 18ct one. This is completely wrong - each metal will always wear at it's characteristic rate, regardless of what is next to it. The truth is that the 9ct ring will RESIST wear better than the 18ct one, as it is harder.

08.01.2022 Did you know........ Contrary to popular belief, diamonds are not indestructible - they are the hardest natural substance, but they are still originally a crystal, and if hit hard enough on the wrong angle it is quite possible to chip or even break them. Stones cut with corners or points, such as princess, marquise, or pear-shaped cuts, require particular care.

07.01.2022 Did you know.... Wearing your chains and bracelets while exercising will speed up the wear on the links. Dust between the links is abrasive, so running around and making your chains swing about will contribute to the wear on them and shorten their life.

06.01.2022 To all my Facebook friends - I have launched my Nevermade Collection of jewellery, and will be posting new designs regularly. These are unique in that they are guaranteed to have neve been made before - they are my own unique designs, and I have never made them for anyone. If you like them please share them with your friends - each one of these rings is looking for a home! Thank you very much - all the best, Alan :-)

01.01.2022 Did you know.... the ancient Greeks called amber "elektron", from their name for the sun, because of it's gold-red-orange colours. When you rub amber with a soft cloth it develops a static charge, which will attract small bit of paper or thread. In 1600 this force was called "electricity", after the Greek name for amber.
