25.01.2022 Thanks to Heritage Victoria's Living Heritage Grants Program, Yurunga's north and west verandah is about to be rebuilt. Three representatives from Heritage Victoria visited the site on February 12 to mark the commencement of the project. They were photographed with heritage consultants Dr Gary Hill and Elaine Doling, Jeff Woodward from Hindmarsh Shire and Yurunga Committee Chairperson Jenny Solly. Thanks to Simon Landrigan for the photo. Work should be completed in April.

24.01.2022 Bags of Yurunga Licola plums are now available at the Rainbow craft shop. The plums are ideal for eating fresh, stewing or for making into jam or sauce.

17.01.2022 We had a very productive day at Yurunga yesterday. Thanks to willing workers Dean and Brian from the Wimmera Catchment Management Authority work crew. Several outstanding outdoor jobs were completed. They will be back again today. Thanks to Hindmarsh Shire for making them available.

17.01.2022 Although COVID restrictions ease in rural Victoria today, museums must remain closed. Yurunga will remain closed until further notice. We hope to be able to welcome you back soon.

15.01.2022 Yesterday we welcomed Mount Waverley Combined Probus Club to Yurunga. Thirty-three guests enjoyed a leisurely lunch under our shady cedar tree and a tour of the house. Helen Fisher organised the menu and baked the delicious cakes. Ann Thomas made the gourmet sandwiches. New Committee member Helen Heinrich joined the tour guide team. Helen Fisher's tasty plum sauce, made with plums from the Yurunga orchard, sold out on the day. We all enjoyed the afternoon.

11.01.2022 We had strong visitor numbers at Yurunga on Easter Sunday, including 17 members of the extended Smith family, home for Easter. Welcome back!

10.01.2022 Restoration work on the north verandah at Yurunga started just before Easter. It's great to see the project progressing - from a safe distance!

08.01.2022 Yurunga is currently closed to the public, but the garden continues to grow. The strip of salvia leucantha (purple) was planted at the end of April last year (2019). The salvia greggii "angel wings" (pink/white) were planted mid May last year).

08.01.2022 Public Notice Due to the need for "social distancing" to reduce the spread of Coronavirus, the Yurunga Committee has decided to close Yurunga Homestead to the public for the duration of the declared State of Emergency. We look forward to welcoming visitors back when the crisis is over.

06.01.2022 || YURUNGA HOMESTEAD VERANDA RESTORATION || Although it has been, and remains, closed for the moment due to the Covid-19 restrictions, there has been plenty of ...action at Yurunga Homestead in Rainbow. With support from the Victorian Government Living Heritage grant program the northern veranda of the Heritage Listed property has been restored. We are looking forward to reopening when possible to allow visitors to enjoy the fantastic restoration works.

06.01.2022 Yurunga orchard Granny Smith apples are now on sale at the Rainbow craft shop. They are delicious!

06.01.2022 Builder Daryl Leyonhjelm and his team have made steady progress at Yurunga on the north and west verandah project. The redgum boards look magnificent, and every nail was hammered into place. Big job!

05.01.2022 Okee Dokee peaches from Yurunga's heritage orchard are now available for sale from the Rainbow craft shop. They are flat peaches and they taste delicious.

01.01.2022 Exciting news! Yurunga has received a Quick Response grant from Regional Arts Victoria for our mural project. The $4,000 grant means that talented local artist, Belinda Eckermann, will soon commence painting the mural on metal panels in her Turbo Gallery in Rainbow. Belinda's design is based on original photographs of the Cust and Liesfield families. It will be complemented by a QR Code audio history. The completed panels will be attached to the shipping container at Yurunga. Belinda is pictured in the Turbo Gallery. Members of the public are welcome to call in to view the artist at work.
