22.01.2022 Does anyone know this bee (or wasp) on the flowers of our Davidsonia johnsonii trees? This is the ‘seedless’ Davidson’s plum tree, extremely rare in the wild, as it does not generally set seed, but relies on regeneration by root suckers. They are certainly flowering heavily this year, and there are quite a lot of these fast moving little black bee/wasps visiting the flowers at the moment. They are black, with two yellow patches on their shoulders. Any ideas anyone? And... another question, why attract pollinators if you don’t make seeds?? #davidsonsplum #davidsoniajohnsonii #nativebees #nativewasps #rainforestinsects

16.01.2022 These are the delicate little flowers and crinkled of a native aniseed myrtle. Rub the leaves and your finger tips will smell like liquorice. Believed to be traditionally used a vitalising tonic, these days this plant is still used in teas, cakes sauces. Mostly it’s a beautiful addition to any backyard. #australian #myrtle #flower #delicate #byron #tree #edible #liquorice

08.01.2022 I was in @santosorganics in #mullumbimby and spotted our macadamia spreads on the shelf. Great on toast, or in smoothies, or on porridge or in a date, the list goes on and on. How do you eat your Macca spread? I’d love to hear what your doing with it! #maybeinasaladdtessing #maybeincakes #maybeonbeans #macadamia #betterthanpeanutbutter

03.01.2022 We found this tinylittle scorpion in one of our native bee hives which had failed during the winter, possibly due to parasitic flies getting into the hive. This little guy is only about 4 mm long. Are there any scorpion experts out there who can name it for us? #scorpions #nsw #subtropicalnsw #rainforestinsects
