25.01.2022 Each year our mentoring groups are encouraged to engage in a local community project to connect with those around them, increase wellbeing and drive sense of purpose. Matraville High School in Sydney worked together to gather feedback for a new youth centre in the area, creating a survey and poster to circulate to the school body. The project was a huge success and 71 suggestions were gathered in the first week. This feedback was forwarded on to Randwick Council, as a way of... allowing our young people to be acknowledged and their voices to be heard. Randwick council were so impressed with Matraville High School's community project they passed this on to the Mayor of Randwick, Cr Danny Said, who asked to attend the Raise graduation and personally thank the students for the project. Our best practice mentoring program helps schools empower their students to build social and emotional wellbeing, resilience, academic engagement, hope for the future, relationships and help seeking skills.
