22.01.2022 As part of our Refugee Week celebrations in June, we held a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary "Chasing Asylum". The film, which has won a number of international film awards since its initial release in 2016, is an exploration of Australia's controversial Pacific Solution policy as it relates to asylum seekers and refugees. It examines first hand various evidences depicting how Australia's asylum seeker policies have left these people in a legal limbo, causing... the deterioration of their mental and physical health. The film was screened for the public by the Refugee Association of Logan in order to shed light on the plight of Asylum Seekers. For more information about the film please visit their official Facebook page Chasing Asylum

10.01.2022 Trip to Pottsville At the invitation of the Pottsville Refugee Support Group, RAL took a group of 30 Asylum Seekers on the 10th November 2019 to Pottsville. This is the 3rd year in a row that we have been going on a visit to Pottsville. It has been a very fun-filled day for the adults as well as the children. The children had fun swimming and playing in the park and later we were served a sumptuous lunch. Our thanks to the Pottsville group for inviting us. Here are some photos that capture some of the activities...
08.01.2022 August is turning out to be a busy month for the Refugee Association of Logan. It began with the uncertainties and hardship caused to the Asylum Seekers by their visa applications being refused. This resulted in their Centrelink support being stopped and work rights withdrawn. We had to move urgently to source funds together with other organisations to support them with their rent, food and other expenses. RAL has planned a number of initiatives to elevate their plight. We invite everyone to participate in these events. Firstly, on Friday 3rd August, we have invited a team of officials and employers from he Darling Downs Regional Council to talk about employment opportunities in the Warwick and Stanthorpe areas.

05.01.2022 Food Distribution During the COVID-19 Pandemic The COVID season posed big problems, especially for the Asylum Seekers. They were one of the first to lose jobs and had no compensation in terms of JobKeeper or JobSeeker allowances. Most of them were ineligible for Centrelink allowance. Hence, they faced grave problems with rental, food and living expenses. RAL responded by providing them with groceries and gift cards to tide over their difficulties. The photos below show these clients coming weekly to collect whatever we had to give them
