21.01.2022 **New Release** With a lifetime dedicated to research and writing, Author and Historian Ken Arnold has again produced a stunning addition to his already acclaimed stable of books, dedicated to the history of farm machinery and associated equipment which was utilised by our agricultural pioneers in their quest to settle and forge the land in the production of crops and livestock. Having completed more then fifteen volumes on the subjuct, including the massive five volume A Cen...tury of Farmyard Relics in Australia, 1840 - 1940, Ken found the enormous process of research had in fact delivered futher valuable material on the subject, particular to patents, up until now, basically unseen. Farming antiques are becoming more and more collectable, as is confirmed by the prices paid and the number of people who attend rural and regional clearing sales plus regular swap meets around the country. Not only are these items sought by collectors, they have now become the focus of Interiror Decorators, Landscape Gardeners, The Man Cave and just those who appreciate the ingenuity or our agricultural forefathers. This guide to farmyard collectables is the result of a fine sift through this previously unpublished information. It gives us an additional opportunity to gain further access to some of the fascinating equipment and tools that were vital to those pioneers and farmers enabling them to perform the task of primary production for all.

20.01.2022 Now Available : "Massey Ferguson 100 Series In Detail" Following his well-received books in this ‘In Detail’ series on the Ferguson TE20 and the Massey Ferguson 35 & 65 models, author Michael Thorne turns his attention to the outstandingly successful and well-loved 100 Series of tractors. Of the 100 range, the most popular was and remains the 135. Half a million 135s were built at Massey Ferguson’s factory in Coventry alone, with production overseas on top of this figure. Ano...ther big success was the larger, more powerful 165, with nearly 200,000 sold. This model, like the 135, is among the most popular and sought-after classic tractors today, although many 135s and 165s are still in active use around the world, in spite of their age. The 100 range included a great number of other models, and in addition to the 135 and 165, which are given in-depth treatment here, important models described in detail are the 130, 148 Super-Spec, 168, 175, 185 and 188 Super-Spec. There is an extensive chapter on the implements available for the range, and another on conversions. Featuring 290 illustrations including detailed specially-commissioned colour photography of outstanding examples of 100 Series tractors, Massey Ferguson 100 Series In Detail offers an unrivaled store of knowledge for the owners and enthusiasts who care passionately about these tractors, and serves as a tribute to the people who made them. 14.01.2022 A farmer named Clyde had a tractor accident. In court, the trucking company's fancy hot shot lawyer, was questioning Clyde. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine,'?" asked the lawyer. Clyde responded, "Well, I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite cow, Bessie, into the..." "I didn't ask for any details", the lawyer interrupted. "Just answer the question, ...please. Did you, or did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'?"... Clyde said, "Well, I had just got Bessie into the trailer behind the tractor and I was driving down the road...." The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Your Honor, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question." By this time, the Judge was fairly interested in Clyde's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite cow, Bessie". Clyde thanked the Judge and proceeded. "Well, as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite cow, into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my John Deer Tractor right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting, real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear old Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning, so he went over to her. After he looked at her, and saw her fatal condition, he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road, gun still in hand, looked at me, and said, "How are you feeling?" "Now tell me, what the heck would you say?"

04.01.2022 Bob Chamberlain designed his first farm tractor in 1937, partly in reponse to Australian Federal Government incentives encouraging local manufacture, and partly recognising the need for large and powerful farm machines suited to the requirements of post-war developments in broadacre farming. Only the earliest models - 40K, 40KA, 45KA, 55KA and 55DA - were entirely designed and built by the original Chamberlain company. From the 60DA model, proprietary engines were employed, ...chiefly those supplied by the British firms of Perkins and Meadows, although the highly-regarded 60DA, Super 70 and Super 90 tractors used GM 3-71 engines, and later John Deere introduced their own for the last of the line. While the Chamberlain company also began producing farm implements from 1951, financial difficulties saw their manufacture sub-contracted to companies in Western Australia and South Australia, until the Western Australian Government took control in 1956. The range of tractors and implements increased steadily, although the Government accepted that building farm machinery was not its core business, and offered it for sale after recording a significant operating profit in 1965. Late in 1970 the North American company John Deere Limited assumed control, creating a new company, Chamberlain John Deere Pty Ltd, which continued to build machines under the Chamberlain name until 1986. This book lists, illustrates and provides surviving data covering all tractors - agricultural and industrial - built from 1949 to 1986, and lists and illustrates all known Chamberlain-branded farm implements made during the same period. The factory's manufacture of add-on kits has proved impossible to catalogue, but surviving machines may vary from standard specification by fitment of such kits.
