24.01.2022 Cedar 6 Drawer Chest. Cedar seems to be the timber of the month here at RA & ML Polishing. These before, during and after images show the drawer runners have been replaced, and the incredible rich, natural colors of mature Cedar once it has been sanded and polished. Spectacular!

24.01.2022 Now heres a concept that is bound to strike up conversation around the Dinner Table! This reclaimed Bowling Alley has been given a face lift, framed with new solid Jarrah timber edging, (thanks to Versailles Fine Furniture, Bulleen) expertly flattened by CNC Router (by Eric Jones Stairbuilding) and retro fitted to an existing table base. Ill spare you any more lame cliches! Masterpiece.

24.01.2022 When we first collected this Maple Drinks Cabinet from our clients shed, it certainly looked like it was beyond redemption. It was in just such poor condition, a lot of damaged and missing veneer, standby to watch the transformation...

23.01.2022 Walnut Singer 2 Drawer Sewing Machine. Before and After. When this piece arrived, it seem like time had passed it by and it seemed destined to be scrap metal and firewood. With a little bit of effort, we have turned back the clock and it has been restored to its former glory.

23.01.2022 There is never anything we would consider unusual in our profession. Here is 54 lineal metres of Spotted Gum Handrail by Eric Jones Stairbuilding, destined to be installed at Highpoint Shopping Centre next week. All in a days work.

23.01.2022 Small jobs come along every now and then, but that doesnt mean their end results dont have a big impact! This solid Oak Sewing Cabinet and Mahogany Duchess Mirror have been granted the special treatment they deserve to make them come alive. A big thank you to the patient staff at Elite Upholstery in Bayswater for painstakingly recreating the pleated curtain to make this furniture a real showpiece!

22.01.2022 With every new year brings new beginnings. Here is a timeless Victorian Ash Auto Trolley which has been carefully restored to bring it a new lease on life (new castors and clean leadlight). Alongside its lamp table, they are a perfect match!

22.01.2022 It is not often we get to refurbish Board Room Tables, however in this instance, this one presented somewhat of a challenge. Not that this project was going to stop us! The damaged edges we removed and replaced with solid Mahogany (many thanks to Versailles Fine Furniture in Bulleen) to frame the veneer and protect the edges from further impact. The end result is truly spectacular!

22.01.2022 This beautiful staircase was a unique job in itself. Constructed from Chestnut by Eric Jones Stairbuilding and polished to the clients sample, we traveled to Ballarat for 3 days to complete it. No doubt it was worth every minute!

21.01.2022 We delivered this bedroom suite to a lady this morning who enjoyed it as a child and has now restored it and passed it on to her daughter, 30 years later! Timeless retro 70s style never ages!

21.01.2022 Veneer Crystal Cabinet. There is never a dull day when unusual pieces like this come in to be restored. This unique Display Cabinet presented some interesting challenges, and we are glad to see it assembled and ready to deliver! Certainly has a character that literally stands alone.

18.01.2022 Enjoying our craft is something that we can reflect on when pieces like these come along. Meranti single drawer Night Stand, Maple 3 Drawer Dressing Table, Blackwood Desk with Myrtle Drawers and Solid Oak Dining Table. Timeless.

17.01.2022 Blackwood Sideboard with Beveled Mirror. Our client originally wanted this piece to be cleaned up however when we collected it, we realised it was going to take a little more work. They agreed to have it fully restored and were more than pleased with the end result.

17.01.2022 Every once in a while something comes through our door to excite the senses, and a local student approached us to polish their handmade skateboard deck. Were never one to turn down such an oppourtunity, and the result speaks for itself. Absolutely stunning! A+

16.01.2022 Cedar 5 Drawer Chest. Chest of Drawers come in all shapes and sizes for all kinds of spaces. Big or small, they still command attention. This 5 drawer Chest may look like it had seen better days, sand it back and you reveal the true beauty that lies beneath. Stunning.

16.01.2022 The repair phase. The cabinet was stripped. Ply tops replaced with new Rock Maple veneered MDF (4mm) and new veneered edging, Door veneer removed and replaced with Rock Maple veneered MDF (thicknessed to 3mm) to allow it to bend to the shape of the door. Sanded ready for staining and polishing.

This abstract Bookcase caught the eye of the client in an Oppourtunity Shop and with a little bit of TLC (code for completely dismantled and rebuilt!) we have given it a new home for some heartwarming fire side story telling all of its own accord.

15.01.2022 Cedar 8 Drawer Chest. This is the second Chest of Drawers to come in in as many weeks. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing the intricate grain characteristics of Cedar shine once they have been polished. Like a fingerprint, they seem to have their own individual identity. One of a kind.

14.01.2022 Rosewood Display Cabinets. The strength in the construction is complimented by the delicate detail of this magnificent trilogy of Rosewood Cabinets, Timeless design, evenly matched by the rich colour of the Rosewood, and in this sun drenched setting, its made to feel right at home.

13.01.2022 After 30 years, this Blackwood Kitchen has a spring in its step with new Caeserstone Benchtops by Just Benchtops along with all the doors and drawer fronts refurbished. The brushed steel bar handles by Hafele give it a nice contemporary touch. All class.

12.01.2022 Walnut Upright Piano. There is always a charm that comes with restoring a Piano, not only do they look majestic, theyre a practical musical tool that brings everyone satisfaction. All the more reason to enjoy them once they are complete!

12.01.2022 Cedar Chest of Drawers and Occasional Table. Its been a busy week, and Cedar is the timber of choice which has dominated the workspace. It has such rich colour and incredible grain characteristics, what is not to like about these timeless pieces, restored to their original grandeur.

11.01.2022 Kitchen Cabinets may be old school, covered in paint and not so easy on the eye... When you strip them back this is what you find. Kauri Pine, completely rebuilt, from the inside out, new Rock Maple ply door panels and bases, perforated mesh panels, this cabinet is full of charm once again!

10.01.2022 Blackwood Writing Desk. Before and After. The rich colours of such beautiful timber are enhanced when they are restored, giving much better depth and clarity. Truly a masterpiece, given a new lease on life.

10.01.2022 Cedar Dining Table with Baltic Pine Top. Another example of how timber that looks beyond its use by date can be rejuvinated to return to its original splendour. One image shows the Table Top with new routered egding prior to drum sanding, then the finished product. In a word; Majestic.

09.01.2022 Restored furniture will bring so much satisfaction to so many. This Auto trolley is just another fine example of what can be done with furniture that seems destined to become next winters firewood. Dismantled, rebuilt, with new ply and castors supplied by Graeme Brown Antiques, this will certainly make a striking entrance at the their next High Tea . Scones anyone?

09.01.2022 This is a series of Before and After shots that we have uncovered for a client who found a sentimental attachment to several pieces that belonged to family members. The small ornamental table was made by their son at school and had never been polished... until now.

09.01.2022 Pine Dressing Table and Pine Kitchen Dresser. Before and After. Nothing beats the look and feel of new furniture, and that is what is so wonderful about solid timber. It can appear old and tired, however, it has new appeal once it is rejuvenated. It has a new life, all of its own.

08.01.2022 Walnut Drinks Cabinet with etched glass panels. Vintage Art Deco Style, comes to life, before, during and after!

07.01.2022 Auto Trolley with dual Leadlight Doors. Drinks anyone? High tea for two? This little gem came to us with curtains included, now it is restored, no covers are required. It has a sparkle all of its own. Needless to say our clients were amazed at its transformation.

06.01.2022 Staircases come in many shapes and sizes, and this beautiful example is no exception. Stained and polished by the previous owner, the Ash Treads and landings were carefully removed (and replaced with dummy treads to allow upstairs access) stripped, sanded and clear coated to let the natural color shine. A true reflection of the beauty of natural timber.

05.01.2022 Staircase restoration is always challenging, not to mention, time consuming. Stripping, sanding, staining and polishing is what we do best to all types of furniture, so why stop there? This staircase has had a complete makeover, much to the delight of the client.

04.01.2022 Cedar Dining Chairs. It never hurts to mix Classic with Contemporary these days. To be honest it took us a little while to get used to the blast of colour this client chose, but once they were paired with the solid Cedar Dining Table we restored, it was like they were made for one another.

03.01.2022 There is a unique charm that comes with Kitchen Cabinets. When they come to us looking like this, generously coated with a touch of paint, stripping it away to reveal its beauty beneath is always rewarding. Western Red Cedar ply paneling adds just the right colour to warm any space.

02.01.2022 Wrought Iron Outdoor Table. There isnt much that survives in the harsh outdoors, and timber in no exception. This Outdoor Table, a part of a 4 Piece Setting had its rotten timber panels replaced with Merbau by Demak Timber to give it a whole new lease on life!

02.01.2022 When it comes to restoring furniture, the only limit is your imagination! The client chose to give these Mahogany Side Tables a contemporary touch by using Dulux Mocha Pearl to match their existing interior finishes with incredible results. A big shout out to Eastern Auto Paints in Bayswater for their hard work in manufacturing an acrylic paint to make these tables come to life.

01.01.2022 Maple Drinks Cabinet. Complete. New Mirrors inside the Cocktail Flap and RH side cabinet (original mirror was badly delaminating) original curved glass door panels and shelves. We even managed to get it to the top of the stairs in the home without demolishing it! Truly a restoration to be proud of!
