Yesterday I received a threat from a fellow practitioner which was not quite what I expected in terms of professional conduct. Yesterday, Damian Bartholomew (Chair, Children’s Law Com...mittee) and Kristy Bell (Member, Criminal Law Committee) appeared before the Parliamentary Legal Affairs and Safety Committee on the Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2021. In our submission, we opposed the use of electronic monitoring devices on young people and the presumption against bail for certain children and young people, as evidence suggests these measures are ineffective and will in fact increase youth offending.
