25.01.2022 It’s throw back Thursday, so let’s go way back to the car that started it all! Borris the Nissover! My memory escapes me on the exact year, but I believe it was around 08-09 that this rig was built up into what it was. 85 Range Rover on GQ diffs and 35s, at the time this was just out of this world. I learnt a heap of stuff on this car and opened my eye to the world of major 4wd modification. As well as what not to do with a lot of things. The conversion was done without l...aying a single weld on the chassis. The rear bar was the first one I’d ever built. The bonnet was the first and only time I’d played with fibreglass. The paint was a rattle can home job. It was my daily driver for quite a while. So many good memories were had from this car! What rigs started your passion for building? Post them up! See more



24.01.2022 Update for those following the 80 rear panhard riser bracket development. We now have our first 2 prototypes cut and constructed! What you are looking at in these pics is (once trial fitted and checked) the final shape and design of the mount. We cut and folded the first prototypes in house to check tolerances and hole locations. With this now checked off the list the next step is check tolerances once bolted into a car to finalise the design, and be able to get the knowle...dge to answer any future questions. (Fingers crossed this is happening this afternoon!) Our laser cutters also have the files, so once final checks, supply price and construction times are sorted, we’ll be able to do a preorder deal on the website. Happy hump day to all! See more

20.01.2022 Beesting update!! The shock mounts have a location, which meant it was time to cycle the suspension! And what do ya know, everything clears perfectly fine! Here’s a few pics of the drivers side at full stuff/full lock. Next step is remove rear diff from the car, get it finished up and on its way for blasting and painting! Check out the last pic showing how high the tire comes up!

16.01.2022 The beesting jeep came in for a portal diff conversion. But after a few conversations the owners wanted to neaten up the back end a little bit. I mentioned we could cut everything off and remount things a bit more vision friendly. IE, the radiator has been lowered about 400-500mm. Fuel tank is a few inches lower. The driver will be able to see out the back now. But the new tube work is where things got interesting. The car is called beesting. So we’ve attempted to create bee butt! Including a neat lil stinger. The original backstays were retained and the new tube bent up around these.

16.01.2022 Tech Tuesday trick tips!! Today’s topic, diff choice! More specifically, using patrol diffs under your build!! Over the last decade the amount of times we’ve heard I’m just gonna use this diff coz I’ve already got it is actually way more common then you’d think!! Now we can and will never argue, that the old saying of horses for courses is pretty accurate. But, let me introduce you what I’m guessing is a very unknown fact. The first pic is a GU cv compared to a GQ cv. Pr...etty big different isn’t it!! The second pic is a GQ cv compared to hilux cv. Not much of a difference at all really! In fact it’s actually 1mm difference. Now of course, how it’s designed, the material, aftermarket components etc etc, we get it. But if your building a rig, then play it smart and use the components that are stronger in standard form! This will give you a far better platform to start with making your vehicle way more reliable straight off the bat! Some people might say, but I could put RCV’s in my GQ diffs and they’d be just as strong! Actually, not true. You would honestly put a stock GU cv in the same basket as chromo GQ cv. The chromo one might be at the top of the basket, but it’s still in the same basket! Now think about it from a financial side of things, break one pair of chromo CVs on the GQ diff, you’ve now surpassed the price tag to go the GU option, and you need to purchase new CVs. Or, you break them and decide to upgrade, tube now got to purchase the diff again, and possibly upgrade the CVs as well! Not to mention the additional damage to the vehicle if you bust a cv in a bad spot. The idea of this post is not to insult or tell people that they’ve built their car wrong. It’s an attempt to spread the knowledge factor and help people build a better more reliable car, and in the long run, help save people some money!! Just because the GQ diff is cheaper, doesn’t mean your going to get out of building the car cheaper! It’s cheaper right now, but it’s more expensive in the long run! See more

13.01.2022 This morning we fitted up the first of the new 80/105 rear panhard riser bracket. This one was the first of the latest prototype design. A few small changes required but that’s to be expected. Vehicle this bracket was fitted too is running a 4 lift. The aftermarket panhard we believe is a tough dog. It has ample amount of thread left in its adjustment to be able to obtain the 1 longer mounting hole. Unfortunately we weren’t able to cycle the suspension to check tolerance...s but we did manage a quick specific test drive. As expected, the vehicle is much more stable on corners and swerving. The body roll isn’t as strong when it rolls. Bumps and rough roads is where this bracket really shines! The rear end is much more neutral in its vertical movement and not pulling to the side as much. In lamens terms, massively reduce bum wiggle! More updates for you guys on its development, we now have a supply price from our cutters for bulk orders, next step is to have one done to make sure it comes out the way it should! Price is TBA. 11.01.2022 Beesting updates! The rear tube work is coming along quite nicely! A few braces added as well and lil hoops to mount the shocks. Surge tank and fuel pump mounted. Almost ready to test cycle!

10.01.2022 We’ve been asked before why cruisers like to crack and/or or snap front lower shock mounts off. Up until recently I could never quite put my finger on it. But having seen one at an appropriate time of its fatigue, (not the one pictured) we’ve finally figured it out! And it was staring us right in the face! The first pic in this post is what happens when the issue is left unattended. The mount will tear itself off. So, what makes it happen? Actually something insanely easy t...o prevent! In the second pic you can see the shock mount is still in one piece, and that the bottom of the shock mount also doubles as a steering stop. (Note the dent on the mount from the stop bolts) now those with a keen eye might notice the very slight bend of the same side of the mount. This is the shock mount not able to act as a steering stop. It’s getting bent inwards due to absolutely no support. Pic 3, you can see the crack starting to form from the movement. This crack will naturally continue upwards along the weld, once the crack reaches the top of the mount the force from the shock finishes the mount off and makes the crack travel across the mount and, well, bye bye shock mount!! This detached mount was cleaned, prepped and welded back on. But more importantly, a brace inside the mount was added so that it can cope with the forces from also being a steering stop. Diff in these pics is a 79 series. 80/105s shouldn’t suffer the same fatigue issue as their steering stops are not the shock mounts! These braces (with a small design tweak) will be available on the website next week! See more

08.01.2022 This is an exciting post! This product has been so long in the making it’s such a nice feeling to see the first actual prototype welded together! Yes this pic is obviously just a few bits of plates with some holes. The final product is actually missing 4 more plates that aren’t pictured, but scrapping the original design, getting the piece it’s destined for 3D scanned and then starting from scratch again, we needed to just make sure it’s basic shape was correct before continuing. And hot diggity it’s absolutely bang on!! Final product will be CNC folded. (the relief cuts are for easy and accurate folding to check shape and design.) This prototype, fingers crossed, should be on a car next week for more checks. Can anyone guess what it is??

08.01.2022 Project old blue is charging along!! Front diff is now well in place with all brackets bar panhard diff mount finalised! Was pretty dam cool to see the front end at full droop!! Next step is get the new motor into its forever position and then recalculate the rear links!

07.01.2022 Old blue 40 update pics!! This build is charging along nicely! The front suspension is all dialled in and where it needs to be. All brackets minus the panhard diff mount are in their final form minus a few braces and gussets. Engine is now mounted and looking very happy in its final position. Rear suspension has been started. We left the original chassis mounts for the 4link and recalculated the geometry to suit. The figures we’ve got should make this thing drive like an absolute weapon. Next step is to start getting some new mounts on the new diff and get the rear end together!

07.01.2022 Someone’s getting their jiggy on!! A recent order on its way out, universal shock towers, chassis plates, radius arm mounts and some steer arm braces. We are starting to close in on having a fair chunk of brackets and mounts for those doing conversions at home!!

05.01.2022 If you own an 80 or 105 land cruiser, and didn’t see our last post. We suggest you go have a sticky beak!

02.01.2022 *80/105 cruiser panhard riser bracket updates* We done some testing this week to check tolerances under cycle with the new bracket. A very small tweak on the scollop section (panhard isn’t actually touching but just incase) for a bit more clearance. The diesel boys running 3 exhausts, there is enough room at full bump pending how/where your exhaust is run. The only down side we were hoping wouldn’t need to happen, is this bracket will require 70mm bump stop extensions. BUT...! This is ONLY at full bump position. (Both sides at max up travel at once) to get a coil sprung into this position, you would have to jump it to provide the forces required to actually get the diff to go this high. Now the next part that will probably surprise you, this vehicle is running a 3 lift with 4 shocks. With the required extensions for the riser bracket, at full flex position in this vehicle, the diff will not make contact with the bump! In fact it’s a good 20-25mm from doing so. The point we’re trying to get across, is that this vehicle which is an extremely common lift/shock size, the extensions required for the new panhard bracket won’t actually change anything at all! We test cycled (as per the pics in this post) to approximately what would be 14-15 of shock travel. We will make an effort to explain this in more detail at a later stage, and we will be offering the minimum extensions required as an optional extra when purchasing the kit. Those that have been following along will also know we’ll be doing an optional longer bush/heim alloy panhard to really reap the extra benefits of this set up. Our alloy supplier is still awaiting stock for the size/grade we use for this application. But we’re hoping that our delay in development should meet up with stock being available so that we can offer all options at once. Now of course the biggest question of all we are happy to answer! Retail for the bracket only will be $450, that will come powder coated and all new hardware required for install. We’ll do be doing a preorder deal for the bracket at $400, and possibly some more deals on the other options as well. We will also be doing a competition where some lucky customer will receive their bracket for free! We have one very last test to take care of, those that have been waiting we apologies on the delay, but we are nearly there! See more

02.01.2022 Here’s a neat teaching opportunity for all you do it yourself peeps. When doing mitre joints, I use this technique to obtain the best join prep for the welding. Capping the end of the tube (either plate slipped inside or the tube cut a tad shorter to accommodate the extra length) enables you to do a large V prep for the join, but also makes it’s extremely difficult to burn through the join. Meaning your weld should (in theory) be more consistent, able to burn hotter and be stronger. Plus if the join is not being ground smooth, the final result will look a lot neater!

01.01.2022 Started this rear bar on my personal rig some 16ish months ago. The car then sat out the front of the shop not getting touched until last week. A bloke stopped in enquiring about some work and ended up buying the car. Which meant I got the chance actually finish the rear bar. So for those that are interested, here’s a few pics!
