24.01.2022 We hope you all have plenty of supplies to keep busy while staying home and out of trouble! Times like these you can be grateful to have your hobbies, to keep you busy and interested, in what may be a long haul of confinement. At least here the prediction is for another 6 months, so just think of all the fabulous hand made Christmas gifts you can make during that time. Here is a bit of inspiration from a customer who sent a photo of a knife pouch he plaited. ... A bit of a challenging job we expect, well done Doug! Send in your pictures of what you are creating during these quiet times. We will put them up and give others encouragement to get going on their own projects.

21.01.2022 C'mon guys - what are you all up to during lockdown? MacLace in Brissy is open during this time, and Kent Saddlery in Stanthorpe can help you with supplies in the Downs. Thanks Peter for sending us photos of some much loved projects made some years ago, and used daily. ... Everyone needs a good hat band, and this one is a beauty. There is nothing as beautiful as a quality leather wallet that is well used - the soft sheen of good leather and the soft moulding of use makes them an item that gives great pleasure for decades. You can't get a nicely laced wallet at the mall - so get making! This one is in Bush Leatherwork, and Peter says he has never lost a note from it, in all the years of use. Thanks again Peter, for the photos.

21.01.2022 A big 'Hi' from us to everyone in Minnesota USA - especially Bonnie! Hope you are all staying well.

20.01.2022 Last year we published a book called A Whipmaker's Yarns, by Robin Wills. We have received a couple of positive reviews of Robin's book, which we are happy to present here. With Christmas looming on the all too near horizon, a book like Robin's may be the perfect gift for the 'too hard to purchase for' fella in your life! 'Robin Wills’ collection of bush yarns are of an era before helicopters and motorbikes when the stockwhip was one of the essential tools of trade every sto...ckman carried wherever he went. Robin’s yarns reflect the experiences of a young man fresh from The Old Country, working among horses and cattle with the many and varied people who all lived and worked "west of the divide. This book, filled with characters like Old Allen the windmill expert, sapper Paddy Ah Chee the WWI explosives expert, Stork the drovers cook and others all add up to an entertaining read.' Lindsay. A Whipmakers Yarns by Robin Wills 'In the words of the song written by Buster Noble And the stockmen called him Pommy, the Pommy jackeroo! Robin Wills has provided a collection of short stories garnered from the style of life that he chose to follow so dissimilar to that which he had been living before leaving England to travel to Australia. In each of the stories there could be a touch of empathy, sorrow, learning, joy and happiness. Robin has been able to tell yarns about a bullock encounter with a Volkswagen, a carnival like ride on a windmill, an impassioned story about a particular dog, whips, the pros and cons of timber or steel lined whip handles, buggies and Noble Italian hunts, amongst others. Quite an enjoyable read written by an experienced and well read writer, looking forward to his next release.' Phillip July 2020

19.01.2022 OVERSEAS CUSTOMERS Due to border closures around the world, there may be difficulties getting items to you. Please check with your own postal system if they are able to accept items from Australia if you wish to order from us, or any other Aussie business. We are sending items to the US and England successfully, but today found out the Netherlands border is closed, and they are definitely not accepting mail from Australia. There may be other European countries that have clos...ed their borders as well. The problem is that air freight is severely disrupted. There are very few planes leaving Australia, so the mail is slower than normal (and it is usually pathetic anyway), and countries are not accepting flights in, so no mail getting through. If you can check with your local postal system what the status is, that would be great. We are happy to send our books out where it is possible. See more

19.01.2022 Thinking of all you people in Stanthorpe area tonight, who may be seeing snow fall in Queensland this week!!! It is freezing here 50klm west of Brisbane tonight, so stay warm everyone.

15.01.2022 Hi all, just sending our best wishes to all at this awful time. Stay safe, stay well - stay home! Get out those leatherwork books, you have plenty to keep yourselves busy while we wait this event out. Cheers for now, DavenDeb.

13.01.2022 Hi All, Notification today that Australia Post is increasing prices on both Domestic and International parcels on 1st March. Sorry - we are as frustrated as many of you with the price of postage and do our best to keep it as low as we can. We do however like our books to reach our customers in the best condition, so try to ensure they are well packed, but always keeping the weight in mind.

13.01.2022 We sent a Bushcraft book to a customer the other day, who sent us a lovely email to tell us about his family's connection with the Rams Skull Press. Rohan Morris' family's first Bushcraft book was purchased in 1975, when his mother gave her future father-in-law a Bushcraft book as a christmas gift. Rohan found the book on his grandfather's book shelf when he was 10, and has spent the years since, trying out all the projects in the books, and expanding his interest in all thi...ngs bush and craft. Now 40, Rohan is a bullocky, and one of the youngest in Australia. He had the privilege of meeting Ron at Jondaryan, and even gets a mention in Bushcraft 6, for a clever fence repair he did up there at one of the meets. Rohan and his family run a farm at Maryvale, and are members of a movement called Community Supported Agriculture. I encourage you to have a look at their facebook page, and see if they are able to accomodate your requirements for ethical and organic farm produce, proudly made in Australia!!! 11.01.2022 Hi All, A heads up on deliveries at the moment, for those waiting for orders to arrive; Australia Post has a lot of delays due to the virus issue. We are waiting for a hide of leather to arrive from Sydney that was sent Express last Wednesday, and still has not arrived. ... So be patient, your books are on their way, but may take a little longer than usual to reach you. Have a good evening everyone, and stay safe.

11.01.2022 We haven't had much to post about lately, so thought we would wish everyone a very good year in 2020!!We haven't had much to post about lately, so thought we would wish everyone a very good year in 2020!!

09.01.2022 As we approach the Festive Season we would like to send a shout out to Majors Mark and Jo Bulow. Both Mark and Jo are flying Padre's with the Salvation Army Flying and Rural Services, and their work involves travelling to people in remote areas offering both physical and spiritual support where and when needed. When not flying they are fundraising in the South East Queensland area, to ensure families that are suffering through drought, flood and other hardships are not forgo...tten and left struggling. To Mark and Jo, and all your fellow Salvation Army family, thank you for living the spirit of Christmas on a daily basis, and caring for those who are often forgotten in our busy and city-centric lifestyles.

09.01.2022 There was a push at one stage after Ron and Anne passed away for our books to be sent to China to be printed. Our resistance to that concept was strong, and in these difficult times, there is a real sense of renewed pride that we do proudly wear the Aussie Made logo. Our books are made just by Dave and I (Deb) from beginning to end, using Australian paper. The content is all Australian.... PROUDLY AUSTRALIAN MADE.

06.01.2022 It's hot, hot hot! But the books are still being printed. Maybe some aircon one day? In the meantime, we pick cool parts of the day to fire up the machinery. Bush Leatherwork and More Bush Leatherwork never last on the shelves for long.

03.01.2022 We are knee deep in leather at the moment too. Dave has taken on the challenge of replacing the worn seat on my dressage saddle. Luckily I have another one to keep me going while this one is out of action. Deb has decided to make a bridle from scratch. Have done repairs on my bridles before, but not attempted one from the beginning before. Who knows how it will turn out.
