24.01.2022 Another lovely Thoroughbred in work at Ramsay Park . A young Desert King gelding having some arena education after a 5 month spell before he goes back to the stables . His neck was quite out , so he was very stiff ,and had some sharp teeth , which can happen quickly in young horses ,so he tended to travel high with a hollow back to try to get comfortable. Now learning to travel in a consistent contact without upwards resistance in transitions , and just working on usual young horse things , holding an even tempo , not drifting out or laying in , and building up strength and suppleness #futureracehorse #desertking #gelding #learning #gettingconfident #cutetrot #pretraining

24.01.2022 A lovely big OTT thoroughbred mare whose owner has had some issues with parting ways in their canter work of late. As with all horses who come to me who have developed new bad behaviors, I always start with a visit from my dentist and musculoskeletal therapist . She definitely benefited from the dentist with sharp teeth cutting her cheeks and creating ulcers up the back , and m/s therapist Janice found that apart from her back being out she had active hormone points , so we started her on chaste tree berry and she hasn’t looked back . Not a single step wrong for myself or her owner when she has come to ride , I look forward to them forming a great partnership in the future #retrainer #offthetrackthoroughbred #mare #goodgirl #maintenance #musculoskeletaltherapy

23.01.2022 It’s a little tricky when you get your 4yo to be camera man , but at least he managed some footage of this lovely ,also 4yo ,thoroughbred gelding by Polanski ! He never made the races and was not named but has been used by his trainer as a lead horse . Just under 17hhs , with a super temperament I think he’ll transition beautifully to a pleasure and club mount horse #offthetrack #thoroughbred #retrainer #furthereducation

21.01.2022 A tale of two recent greys ,. The first a successful retired racehorse who needed some further education.. had a definite feeling of nicking off at times , which he did quite well as a racehorse apparently , and also getting the right lead ...we were certainly getting somewhere as his owner felt when she rode him ( pictured) , but unfortunately had to go home early to deal with some health issues . The second guy , a thoroughbred x Warmblood , I found to be educated and kind , but just very sensitive, and through no fault of his own possibly not the best match for his new owner

18.01.2022 Gerry , an Arabian pony here for breaking in . An excellent first session in long reins starting the introduction of steering and brakes , and his very first hose , which he wasn’t so keen on , but he’ll soon get used to it

09.01.2022 The very tall Warmblood x Thoroughbred ‘Dash’, having two weeks of mouthing education. Happy to travel and move kindly in a contact , and very even and responsive in his upwards and downwards transitions He is also being introduced to a saddle and me laying over him , but I’ll need a step ladder as he’s over 17hhs

05.01.2022 Now that it’s nearly home time for Bruce the Stockhorse it was time to lose the cockatoo hairdo !! #stockhorse #hoggedmane #firsttimeivedonethat #furthereducation #goodboy #cheekyface

04.01.2022 Here we have Bruce !! A young Stockhorse sent for further education... he didn’t feel like a happy horse when I first sat on .. further investigation revealed 2 blind wolf teeth that needed removal , and sore chest muscles that needed ultrasounding. Once they were addressed we found we have a happy , green boy ready to learn Here for 4 weeks , I can tell he’s going to go home a better educated, well rounded boy for his busy owner who’ll be able to easily continue on with him as time permits and he’ll remain consistent with his further education #stockhorse #bruce #gelding #furthereducation #greenhorse #treatment #brucey

04.01.2022 Those new paddock feels !!! Trying to keep horses out of the worst of the mud in these wet times with some paddock swapping .. I feel that hint of Spring , and cannot wait for dryer ground , and the paddocks , trees and gardens to pop with new growth ! #flyingkite #horsekite #fresh #gardening #aroundthecorner #thoroughbred

04.01.2022 ‘ Ginger ‘, at week 1 under saddle , what a lovely and very well bred girl #ridingponyx #partwelsh #breakingin #mare #movement #showpony

03.01.2022 Thoroughbred filly Lily looking great at almost the end of her time at Ramsay Park , a huge difference in 6 weeks between pic 1 and 2 . By Stratum Star out of Gold Heist . Much more grown up with her day to day handling , great to gear up and mouthing almost complete and she’ll go back to the paddock to mature a bit more

01.01.2022 It’s been a while since updates partly due to restrictions and also just being soooo frustratingly wet and trying to look after paddocks !! Here we have a young Thoughbred filly here for some handling and mouthing education. She’s always had a nanny mare in her paddock so initially on arrival had severe separation anxiety despite a friend right next to her . After a few days of watching other horses come and go in there daily routine she has slowly settled in . Just to help her adapt to a new life , handling and gearing up happens in the paddock where she is most relaxed , then moves to the roundyard for short amounts of time where her attention span is improving every day . By the end of 4 weeks I’m confident she’ll have her big girl boots on

01.01.2022 ‘ Desert Maestro’ by Desert King . Jake, as he’s known by , was recently here for some arena education after a 5 month spell in the paddock after his first prep, before going back to the training stables . A great moving gelding , who tended to process things slowly so kept his work quiet and consistent. All the best for the future to his connections now he’s at Flemington #education #arenawork #returntowork #desertking #gelding #retrainer
