22.01.2022 A few years ago a colleague in Chablis put together a small box with bottles from a few under-the-radar domaines that he rated highly; newer, up-and-comers on the block so to speak.I took the samples to Paris and tasted them blind, and the result was that the organic Vrignaud wines came up trumps and I’ve been tasting and following the domaine since.The wines are due to arrive in Australia in November. Vrignaud are wines of great character, authenticity and value. Buy up large! Cheers, Randall.

For Domaine Faiveley, this premier cru produces Faiveley’s deepest and most concentrated wine of the small region (only about 8km south of Chassagne Montrachet!). Faiveley have built a new cave and couverie in village, helping to make pure, fragrant, nicely structured, deep, flavoursome pinots. Hit us up on [email protected] But wait, there’s more! The Mercurey Framboisiere 2017 is $53! It’s a deliciously named vineyard, making a pinot that does smell of raspberries, either in reality or by the power of suggestion. Happy drinking!

21.01.2022 These red burgundies are delicious and great value. The Seguin (pron. Seegan) family are dedicated, hard working Gevrey Chambertinonians; actually I just made that up; (if a person from Paris is a Parisian, Dijon - Dijonnaise, Meursault - Meursaultian, etc;) a person from Gevrey is a Gibriaçois! Go figure.. Nice picture of 1er Cru Craipillot and between the bottle neck and the houses in the distance is where the Grand Crus start.

Collingwood- Old Boy traditional French style with carrot, celery, oinion, garlic, tomato, Moselle . 2. Brunswick - Gus & Tim, chip off old block with very stylish basil.... . 3. Fitzroy - Loch & B Taking it up a step with chorizo banger . 4. Paringa Estate - Trés stylish with home grown fennel for very hungry vintage winemakers 5. Sharing some leftovers. Missing pic - Eldridge Estate with his Chardonnay and dash of Pernod ! . The most tasty, healthy, economical meal around. Supporting local, fresh sustainable farming . 16.01.2022 This wine! Its just landed and its the best ever version we have imported in the 15 years that we have been selling this wine. Its only $27.50 on special (!) and its a little known fact that its all declassified Lirac, a much loftier appellation adjacent to Chateauneuf du Pape. Henri cant sell all of his Lirac production as Lirac, so some is labelled as Cotes du Rhône. It has a higher shiraz component than most Cotes du Rhônes (30-40% depending on the vintage) and that adds some grunt to the ripe raspberry. liquorice and spice laced grenache. 2018. Bring them on!

01.01.2022 Wow, This is amazing pinot gris for $29 on special! I never thought Id say that! Hanspeter Ziereisen has taken bunches from 20-30 yo vines growing in Jurassic limestone at around 300mas, and just 10km from where The Swiss, French and German borders meet. The grapes are crushed and left to macerate for 24 hours (also foot-trodden), then pressed very hard and fermented. The wine comes together in large old barrels for 18 months. Its a textural riot in the mouth with clean, fruity pear and pomegranate notes, lovely grip and dry long finish. Bravo.
