For people in Wollondilly/Wingecarribee, Greater Wollongong and parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury and Sydney areas. Issued at 3:25 pm Monday, 23 November 2020 by Bureau of Meteorology Weather Situation: The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:25 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Shellharbour and Lake Avon. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Wollongong, Picton and the Nattai Tablelands by 3:55 pm and Sutherland, Sydney Airport, Katoomba, Camden, Campbelltown and Liverpool by 4:25 pm. Damaging winds are likely. Issued at 3:52 pm Friday, 25 September 2020. By Bureau of Meteorology A strong cold front is bringing gusty winds to much of NSW today. Vigorous winds are expected to continue during Saturday in the front's wake. DAMAGING WIND GUSTS, in excess of 90 km/h, are possible this evening and Saturday. Conditions are expected to ease in Sydney later this evening, and in the remainder of the warning area Saturday afternoon or evening. Locations which may be affected include Sydney, Wollongong, Nowra, Bowral, Katoomba and Goulburn. Issued at 10:23 pm Tuesday, 5 January 2021 by Bureau of Meteorology Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gosford, Sydney, Parramatta, Wollongong, Nowra and Bowral. The State Emergency Service advises: * Move your car under cover. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. 19.01.2022 On Friday afternoon we assisted Eastern Beaches Police Area Command with a land search for a missing lady in the Kensington area. Our thanks to Burwood, Canterbury, City of Sydney, Ashfield-Leichhardt, Hurstville, Kogarah, North Sydney, Marrickville, Waverley Woollahra, Ku-Ring-Gai and Mosman units for also attending. While searching, one team found an injured rainbow lorikeet, which we captured and handed over to WIRES for further care. ... 11.01.2022 Today NSW Police Force are mourning the loss of one of their own, Senior Constable Kelly Foster. She tragically lost her life yesterday whilst endeavouring to save another woman in distress at Wollangambe Canyon at Mount Wilson. Both Kelly and the other woman did not survive. Our thoughts are with all those involved in the incident and emergency services who attended. Our hearts go out to Kelly and the other woman’s family, friends and colleagues.

10.01.2022 In remembrance. Every year on 12th October, family, friends and the local community come together to remember those who were lost in the 2002 Bali Bombings. It is also a time to celebrate life and resilience. Due to COVID-19, the Bali Commemoration Ceremony was a much smaller than usual gathering this year - in order for attendees to maintain social distancing. ... NSW SES Randwick Unit provided support to Randwick City Council for the event, with regards to traffic control and marshalling. 03.01.2022 Last Monday and the Friday prior, a number of our volunteers assisted Rescue & Bomb Disposal - NSW Police Force and NSW SES Sutherland Shire with a land search in Kurnell for a gentleman who has gone missing from Randwick. The man has not yet been found and police have appealed to the public for information on the movements of the man’s vehicle (which was found in Kurnell). 01.01.2022 EARLIER: Carrington Rd was blocked in one direction at Coogee Bay Rd when this tree came crashing down this afternoon. Our chainsaw crews have attended, making safe and restoring access. Our thanks to those who did the right thing and drove to the conditions, keeping us safe (limit is 40km/hr when emergency services are working with red and blue lights) and to the pedestrians for following directions. #NSWSES #Chainsaw
