25.01.2022 Here's a blast from the past to warm up your cold and wintery afternoon. Recorded on 16 track reel to reel tape in the Mk1 version of the studio that became Rangemaster, Red October were a rockin good band. Recently restored and remastered by David Carr.

For a sole trader like me, that means the cancellation of work and 4 paying gigs including a headline show at a national festival. I decided to put my frustration to work and sat in my studio for the 1st day of lockdown with my Flaxwood guitar, my Fractal Axe Fx, a looper and my favourite verbs from Valhalla DSP This soundscape is the result. 22.01.2022 A few years back my old friend Paul Spyda Drummer invited me to join a bunch of Gen-X rockers and complete the lineup of the new rock outfit When Frames Collide. The band is headed by Andy McLean of Horsehead fame on vocals and boy, can the lad still sing! The boys were working on some solid rock demos but were missing the last important ingredient; a wall of guitar rock made from solid Les Paul, Strat and Marshall. After some rather exciting rehearsal sessions I took the t...racks (recorded live in a rehearsal studio) added a wall of guitars, mixed the songs and next thing, Golden Robot Records offered us a deal! 20.01.2022 Tascam DA88 8-track digital tape machines. These 2 machines cost the studio 16k back in 93. On using them for the first time, everyone commented that play back... sounded exactly like the real thing. Sometimes we werent sure whether we were listening to the input or the playback. They sounded infinitely better than the 16 track reel to reel. 12.01.2022 Friends, this is one special record. 19 year old guitar prodigy Charlie Bedford has delivered an incredible album of original indi-blues songs, all written and arranged by himself, produced, recorded and mixed by me at Rangemaster. I cant express how much Charlies focus, determination and sheer talent impressed me on a daily basis. His guitar solos were all improvised on the spot and his rhythm playing is rock solid. He worked incredibly hard on his vocals and mixing the record was a dream come true for me- everything we recorded just sounded so darn good! We were never in any immediate danger and are getting on with business as best we can. Can you please spare 3 minutes and 50 seconds to listen to the new track by MORE by Sadie Mustoe and write a quick review on her unearthed page. Sadie and I spent many hours drafting the arrangement of the tune. She decided the time was right to move away from the indi-folk sound of her previous releases with me and she sent me home with a listening list of contemporary artists shes inspired by.
