19.01.2022 I went to a Ready Reading course this week and found that going on a picture walk is a wonderful way of engaging the child and honing them into the language before they read. Before the child reads look at the cover and all the pages with illustrations and discuss what is happening and what expressions the characters may have...scan for difficult words and use them in your picture walk to prime children for when they read. Then they read the book to you - holding the book themselves. Remember Rule no. 1 Keep it FUN:) Foster happiness and associate it with text - it will set them up for a life-long enjoyment of reading.
