25.01.2022 To think that we have been on the Metro Tunnel Project since February 2018 and the progress of the tunnelling is well under way. What a great accomplishment of our great team which has been a big part of the project. They have successfully completed the installation of the temporary electrical services. From the connection of the 22kV substation through to the low voltage installation which powers the Road Headers to dig out the new train stations for Metro Tunnel Project at the A'Beckett St, Melbourne site.

25.01.2022 All complete testing for Powercor at creak rd Hobart. The final 110kV cable feeder to the Chapel St Zone Substation has now been final commissioned by RANS. Great job guys.

22.01.2022 Conducting VLF testing on the Hobart 110kV transmission feeders. This switch yard is being up graded from an open yard to an indoor GIS switch gear. Our last test be completed in May.

21.01.2022 Wow what a crazy week in Toowoomba. Tested one set of 110 kV cable packed up for the day then returned the next morning to find the test set was not functioning like it should. Drove to Brisbane to Sunstate Electrical to help fix the unit. It all came down to a $2 spring, 1 franner, call to the states for advice and back to wok to morrow with only 28 hour delay. Thanks fir the great organising from Sunstate electrical get our 200 kV test set back operating.

21.01.2022 For over 10 years now the RANS team have been highly involved in maintaining the HV installation on the Westgate Bridge for Vic Roads.

21.01.2022 RANS have just completed PD and TD for AusNet Service at their Mt Beauty 66/22kV Zone Sub Station. 18.01.2022 Cold day for the testers of RANS. Today working for Lend Lease completing the United Energys testing requirements Tan Delta and Partial Discharge test at Dandenong. Great work guys.

18.01.2022 Back in Darwin for a 66kV cable test. All went well.

18.01.2022 RANS have successfully completed the testing for First Solar at Broken Hill for their 56 Mega Watt Solar Farm. There is over 760,000 solar panels and 30 plus 22kV sub stations. We conducted the earth testing by simulating an earth fault to calculate the Earth Potential Rise including step touch to prove the earthing system works. We also conducted Partial Discharge testing on the 22kV feeders on site to prove the workmanship of the terminations and cable joints. A good job all round.

18.01.2022 RANS testers are conducting Partial Discharge and Tan Dalta testing in the NT for the next few months. It's been a challenge this week with the test equipment due to the heat and dry ice has become necessary to keep the electronics temperature below 45oC as the electronics fail at 48oC on our equipment. We have finished testing for the first week in Darwin and have found minimal faults in the cables we tested which is a great result for Power and Water Corporation. Their cable jointers should be proud of their workmanship.

17.01.2022 Rans installation of 22kV cable for new metering for C-Bus at the old GMH site in Dandenong Victoria. Metering cubical will be put in place later today.

17.01.2022 Amazing. Ausnet Services Rubicon Vic is 100 years old with 66 kV circuit breakers still in service. A transformer was just replaced on site and the year of manufacture was 1915. The photo is of one of the 3 circuit breakers still in service. The photos of the control panels were decommissioned December 2014. RANS are installing the new 22 kV feeder 800mm2 cables from the 66/22 kV 20MVA Transformer No2 to the new switch room on site.

16.01.2022 As we all don't get the opportunity to see this every day, what happens when the screens on a 22kV cable is not earthed. This cable is under test with 50Hz AC and a verac was used to increace the voltage. It very important to earth or ground the screens as if they are not connected the cable becomes quite dangerous as shown in the video. Clearly the metallic sheath of high voltage XLPE single core cables have to fulfill the following electrical requirements: - Conducting the ...earth fault current - Returning the capacitive charging current - Limitation of the radial electrostatic field - Shielding of the electromagnetic field See more

14.01.2022 New van in action with the 120kV VLF testing the 66kV Hudson Creek City Zone Feeder in Darwin.

14.01.2022 RANS Electrical recently worked on the Melbourne CBD microtunnelling project to extend a new sewerage network to support rapid population growth over the next 35 years. Check out the full article here: http://htl.li/qmgS30kUHRZ

13.01.2022 Dar dar complete. 22kV metering in place at Estate One for C-Bus. Good job Dean and Ross. Just arranged for the blue metal (20mm dia crush rock) to be laid for the earth protection completion. The termination of the cables and testing will be conducted on the day of energising. No stress.

11.01.2022 RANS has completed installation of Partial Discharge couplers in the Synchronous Condenser at Templestowe 220kV Terminal Station for SP Ausnet. The couplers installed are used for the monitor discharge activity in the winding's of the Synchronous Condenser (HV Motor to help with the load off the terminal). Your normal TV coax cable is used to connect between the signal from the coupler to the coupling capicitor which a device you can plug in your computer to record the data. These work took over a week to complete. The customer is very pleased with the quality works completed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronous_condenser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partial_discharge

10.01.2022 We thought this was worth sharing. It is surprising how often ark flashes like this happen all around the world. It shows how important it is to use the correct PPE and no matter how quick the task may be your PPE saves lives. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atQOPdu5mWU

09.01.2022 So exciting because we are moving to a better facility. We have secured a larger premises 300 metres down the road. We can now have all our resources under one roof in stead off running between premises. Looking forward in settling back into a more organised facility.

Thanks to WGTP for engaging us to assist in the project.

04.01.2022 After hour call to Sims Metal tonight. Attended site after a 630A 22 kV elbow failed in service. After a 50 Kz 24 kV hipot of the bushing the service tech have give the switch gear the all clear to place the new terminated elbows onto the bushings. Great effort once again to Mark, Dean, Ross and Adam.

03.01.2022 Tom Potter of RANS has completed the rewire of the McConnell Dowel Road Header which is used for underground mining to dig tunnels for air shafts or the mine face to cut the earth away to get to the minerals like gold, coal etc. The Road Header is electric and requires 1000 volts for it operation and is also remote controlled for the operators safety. Great job Tom!

02.01.2022 Chloe Pekel shines as a passionate, successful and talented woman in the construction industry. Here is what Chloe has to say about what led her to work in construction and working at RANS Electrical - "After completing an undergrad in Health Promotion I realised I wanted to be directly associated with helping people achieve a quality life. With work being a reflection on the quality of life, this led me to want to further my studies in Occupational Health and Safety. I have ...been in HSE for about 2 years now, majority of this time has been with RANS Electrical. They have allowed me to grow in my career in a supportive environment. Entering the construction industry allowed me to work with a variety of different people and experience all different types of projects across Melbourne." - Chloe Pekel. Chloe is a fantastic asset to the RANS Electrical team and we cannot wait to see her career progress over the coming years. We have no doubt she will achieve great things!

01.01.2022 RANS on site at the new car park for Terminal 4 at Melbourne air port. We preforming the EPR (earth potential rise) and step touch testing. This test is simulating a 11 kV earth fault from phase to ground of 3500 Amps for 1 second and the step voltage to under 4 volts. Returning later next week to finish the commissioning of the 2 kiosks.

01.01.2022 Merry Christmas from RANS Electrical
