24.01.2022 The idea of using Generic Hardware has never really sat well with me, its a huge part of why I have never released a Belt. It seemed a bit more like assembling as opposed to creating or making. So it is a relatively big deal in the Studio to finally have created my own Solid Brass RAPHAEL Buckle. Like everything I develop, it has taken a while and cost a small fortune, but the result is incredibly clean, a very linear representation of a classic Heel Bar that is proportion...ately suited to just about any occasion or attire. Im developing a Silver version, experimenting with both Stainless Steel and Plated versions of the Brass. Im very specific about Polish, I find bright finishes look cheap and faux Antiquing is not my cup of Tea. There is an intermediate sweet-spot that I always try to hit. Regardless, it feels good to be contributing something new albeit familiar. See more

09.01.2022 The first thing that anyone who comes through the RAPHAEL Studio says is "Woah!" and then usually that is followed by a question to the effect of "How many of these do you do in a day?" ...The answer is a lot...as in heaps... as in more than I can fit in a photo with my 50mm lens without breaking my neck trying to get up any higher above the bench. The point is that I need some help with some of the other moving parts that come with running an online business and involve get...ting all of our goods out to all of you beautiful individuals. So as manufacturers leave South Australia in droves, Im doing the exact opposite, there are wheels in motion that have been since we decided to bring this whole thing back home and Im looking for talented Studio and Production Assistants that want to learn and grow with us. 02.01.2022 Two weeks ago, we officially opened the RAPHAEL doors to the public and these past two weeks have been surreal. After five years to the day online, being able to have face to face interactions and experiences with customers, being able to share the many facets of what I do that Im so passionate about, getting stuck into new projects in-house and in real-time, from making belts and rings to size on the spot or engraving initials and monograms, its all very rewarding to be a...ble to enjoy and share a very unique space that has taken a year to create. If you get the chance to come through, youll quickly see that the Shop is as much about process as it is about product. For everyone purchasing online, I cant thank you enough for your patience through everything. I am so sorry if your order was impacted by the tracking or MyPost website outages, it looks like everything is finally steadying with the exception of our friends back in Canada, the rotating Canada Post strikes are something we were in Vancouver for once and know how frustrating they can be. 01.01.2022 The Bird of Paradise in the corner of the Workshop, bathed in Natural Light provided by the Sawtooth Skylights is a Strelitzia NICO-lai. It is a really unique variety that has a monochrome flower and makes me think of my boy, Nico every time I look at it. A number of locals want to know where the Shop is at, both progress and location. Ive been working out of the Workshop for about 3 months now and everyone is welcome to make an appointment for the time being. The Design Studio is just about buttoned up and our POS for the Retail side of things is up and running this week. I will most likely line up the next release with a soft opening to preview and pre-order some of the new pieces in the collection. What I can say, is that we will have official Trading Hours before the end of August and that is an incredibly motivating prospect.
