23.01.2022 Australias road racing stars took to the track for the first time at Phillip Island on Friday, as the 2015 Pramac Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix roared in to action. LCR Hondas Jack Miller treated Australian spectators in his opening practice session, chasing down the MotoGP front-runners on home soil and concluding the session within the top five, with a 1:30.669 lap time behind Jorge Lorenzo, Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi, and Dani Pedrosa. However, despite improving hi...s fastest lap time (1:30.127), Miller was unable to retain his top five status in the second MotoGP free practice, concluding the session just outside the top ten in 11th. Millers fellow Aussie compatriots in the MotoGP class had a tough day at the Phillip Island circuit, with both Ant West (AB Racing Honda) and Damian Cudlin (E-motion Iodaracing ART) wrapping up both MotoGP free practice sessions today in 24th and 25th positions respectively. In the Moto2 class Australias sole representative Josh Hook put his best foot forward, despite changing weather conditions during his free practice clocking in with a 1:36.410 lap time in session one, and 1:35.291 in session two, placing him in 25th position. In the Moto3 class, Australias Wildcard entries Olly Simpson (KTM) and Matt Barton (Suus Honda) had their first opportunity to perform on the world stage, however the pair were also forced to contend with the differing weather conditions. Barton had a particularly difficult morning in the first Moto3 practice session, suffering bike issues, which were not rectified until the closing stages of practice, seeing the Honda mounted rider only able to post a 1:47.534 lap time. In session two Barton took a spill in slippery conditions, however was not injured and will line up for qualifying tomorrow. For Simpson, both practice sessions provided the KTM rider with the opportunity to take in his surroundings putting down a 1:40.940 lap time in session one, and 1:40.214 in session two, placing him in 35th position. http://rapidbikes.com.au//Aussies-battle-challenging-Phill

14.01.2022 The 2015 MotoGP World Championship saw another dramatic twist at the Japanese GP as Repsol Hondas Dani Pedrosa, who clearly had not read the script, won his 50th GP with Rossi and Lorenzo completing the podium. This meant that Rossi extended his advantage by four points to 18 over his teammate Lorenzo in what is turning into one of the most tense championship battles of all time. The title fight has now also officially become a two horse race as the third placed Marc Marquez is now out of contention due to the fact he is 85 points behind Rossi, with just 75 points available. The battle to be the leading Open Honda rider currently sees both Jack Miller (LCR Honda) and Nicky Hayden (Aspar MotoGP Team) tied on 16 points. http://rapidbikes.com.au//Rossi-Lorenzo-take-their-face-of

The two Ducati Team riders were eighth (Iannone) and twelfth (Dovizioso) respectively in the first session of the morning, which took place under cloudy skies and with air/track temperatures of... 16/20C. The sun made an appearance in the afternoon after a brief rain shower, and the temperatures rose to 20/29 for FP2, which was held on a totally dry track surface.
