15.01.2022 Interesting read of a little known event during the Vietnam War involving Australian and American soldiers. http://rarasa.org.au//FSB-ANDERSEN-A-NIGHT-OF-THE-YEAR-OF-

09.01.2022 QUOTE.... By Bill Charlton 242 Australian soldiers were shot dead in the Viet Nam War. 123 lost their lives to mines. Natural causes and disease cost the lives of 32. 23 fell to accidents over time.... 18 men were killed by grenades, 15 soldiers were shot by accident by a friendly force. 9 men died in choppers both in the air and on the ground, And 12 men were killed with RPG’s the source. 9 men lost their lives in planes that were shot down, Enemy mortars claimed another 7 men. Accidental Discharges killed 10 soldiers, And drop short artillery killed 6 more men back then. Booby traps accounted for 3 soldiers And lightning killed two soldiers in the field. One was setting up a claymore when lightning struck. Which then triggered the mine it was revealed. 5 men drowned in overturned vehicles, or in the sea And five soldiers were murdered at this time. An Australian female entertainer was also murdered. A US soldier was convicted of this crime. So bullets and mines did most of the damage, And many accidents were a deadly source. Grenades were deadly, as were the RPGs, While there were Accidental Discharges and Artillery ‘Drop Shorts’ of course. Planes and choppers were always a great risk. Mortars and booby traps were a danger to all The drownings, the lightning, the murders and disease Just prove that death can have so many doors. Bill Charlton c 2019 See more
