18.01.2022 On this day the 17th August 1991 Nirvana shot the video for Smells Like Teen Spirit at GMT Studios in Culver City, California, costing less than $50,000 to make, the shoot features real Nirvana fans as the audience. The video won Nirvana the Best New Artist and Best Alternative Group awards at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards, and in 2000 the Guinness World Records named Teen Spirit the Most Played Video on MTV Europe.

Morrison said before the performance that he wouldnt sing the words, Girl, we couldnt get much higher, from Light My Fire but did anyway. One of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, known as "The Man in Black." He traditionally started his concerts by saying, "Hello, Im Johnny Cash." Had the 1969 US No.2 & UK No.4 single A Boy Named Sue, plus 11 other US Top 40 singles. Cash also had his own US TV show in late 60s early 70s.

05.01.2022 On this day the 18th September 1970 Jimi Hendrix was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary Abbots Hospital in London at the age of 27 after choking on his own vomit. Hendrix left the message I need help bad man, on his managers answer phone earlier that night. Rumors and conspiracy theories grew up around Hendrixs death. Eric Burdon claimed Jimi had committed suicide, but thats contradicted by reports that he was in a good frame of mind. In 2009, a former Animals roadie published a book claiming that Jimis manager had admitted to him that he arranged the murder of Hendrix, since the guitarist wanted out of his contract.R.I.P

Winehouses debut album, Frank (2003), was a critical success in the UK and was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Her follow-up album, Back to Black (2006), led to five 2008 Grammy Awards, tying the then record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night, and made her the first British female to win five Grammys. Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, aged 27. Her album Back to Black posthumously became, for a time, the UKs best-selling album of the 21st century.
