23.01.2022 RARE has been gearing up for a year of fantastic projects working with some of Austrtalia's most inspiring and entrepreneurial social enterprises. We're very pleased to announce the first of three RARE projects in semester one will be with BackTrack Youth Works. Our students will be looking into scaling employment and training opportunities for at risk youth. We're also so thrilled for Bernie Shakeshaft being nominated for Australian of the year! 22.01.2022 Team THANH NGUYEN Our third RARE team is working with Thanh Nguyen, a local hair salon training and employing members of the deaf community. These community member often go back to their home towns and open their own salons - a fantastic impact story. Our team is working on a two year scalability plan to increase the local customer base through marketing and partnerships and empower and assist trainees during their time in Hanoi.

19.01.2022 This week we kicked off the RARE year with our Vietnam intensive unit! 16 cross faculty students will be working with 4 inspirational Vietnamese social enterprises which we will showcase in the coming days. Our students here getting an introduction by leading academics and practitioners in the Vietnamese Social Enterprise eco-system... An exciting two weeks ahead!

19.01.2022 Our four RARE Vietnam teams pitched extremely well at our final pitch event at Vietnam National University last week. They outlined their research findings, identified problems and linked these with practical and implementable strategies and solutions. They fielded tricky questions from our audience which included top practitioners and consultants, delegates from DFAT, the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, Austrade, VNU and the wider #socialenterprise ecosystem in Hanoi.... They did us very proud indeed. We're looking forward to handing over four very useful reports to the enterprises next week. 15.01.2022 RARE Vietnam - Team TASA. TASA take agricultural waste and turn it into high grade fertiliser. Our RARE team are working on a marketing and distribution plan to increase sales through partnerships with local agents and farmers. Here's our team visiting Tasa's facilities this week.

13.01.2022 Team HAHN SILK This social enterprise is working to restoring Nam Cao traditional weaving village, bringing new jobs and opportunities for more than 100 households. Our RARE team are working on a marketing and partnerships plan to reach a wider domestic and international audience.

02.01.2022 We're pleased to announce the 2nd of three brand new RARE Projects for semester 1 is with Black Duck Foods, the social venture owned by award winning Indigenous writer Bruce Pascoe. Black Duck Foods' mission is to re-develop traditional food growing and country management processes for the economic benefit of Indigenous Australians. The enterprise will commercialise some of the agricultural practices discussed in Bruce's award winning book Dark Emu. Our RARE Social Entrepreneurship students will be working on internal capacity building, mapping partnership opportunities and renewable energy plans for the 50Ha site at Mallacoota, VIC.

02.01.2022 Last week we hosted our Eden RARE partners, BJ Cruse, Les Kosez and Mark Bateman from the Eden Land Council and Wolf Peak tourism. We were able to lunch with Lisa Jackson Pulvar our new Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous, amongst other special university of Sydney guests, followed by the RARE final pitches in the evening. This semester our postgraduate RARE teams have been working on strategies for cultural tourism along the Bundian Way, one of Australia's oldest and most historic Indigenous walking trails and trading routes which is now under further development.
