21.01.2022 The Indigenous Apprenticeships Program (IAP) is an entry level program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to join the Australian Public Service (...APS). The IAP plays a pivotal role in increasing Indigenous employment opportunities across the APS. Since its inception the IAP has provided over 1200 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people opportunities to start a career in the APS. These are people with diverse backgrounds including school leavers, people finishing study and people looking for a new career. This is a great way for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to join the APS and contribute to making a difference in the lives of all Australians. Study and Work: The IAP is an exciting opportunity for people new to the APS who are wanting to learn new skills, gain valuable workplace experience and a formal qualification. As part of the IAP, apprentices work full-time in a participating Australian Government agency and complete a nationally recognised certificate IV or diploma qualification in Government.
