24.01.2022 RIPLEY'S UPDATE Works on Ripley's are taking a little longer than expected with the trail now due to reopen late Monday

23.01.2022 Id like to give a shout out to the tireless efforts and dedication shown by the trail care volunteers in Cornubia Forest today, love your work, we would be lost without you.

23.01.2022 CITS is back, but in a low-key format to recognise the complications of COVID and the challenges of organising a sponsor-funded event in a short time frame. This style also offers a perfect entry point for the many women who have taken up riding this year. RATS members, please stay tuned for the calls for assistance

22.01.2022 Good morning all, THE SOCIAL RIDE IS CANCELED due to inclement weather , enjoy your weekend, Hoo Roo

22.01.2022 Bayview Blast thanks and prizes - we're now one week past our biggest event of the year, and that means the biggest THANK YOU to all the wonderful volunteers from among our membership base and the wider MTB community who stepped up to help. All contributions, big and small, are appreciated. In a few days we'll have some random prizes to draw and give to the volunteers (please check the comments to make sure your name is included and PM the club if you've been inadvertently mi...ssed). But for now - the BVB committee has a special prize to award to one volunteer who gave up considerable time over the weekend and in the weeks leading up to the event. For all his work, not just the Fri and Sat night cook-ups of chili beans, we would like to give Wayne Thompson a $100 voucher to The Bike Shop (https://www.facebook.com/thebikeshopqld/ // https://thebikeshop.guru/). We couldn't find a photo of Wayne from the BVB, so here's a pic of the legend taking out the SINGLE SPEED and OVERALL win at this year's OHV 24-hour race. With that ability it's no wonder he was first there in the morning at Bayview, and last to leave! The Bike Shop supported the Bayview Blast with three eBikes for the roving marshals and the medics. They played a significant role in keeping everyone safe and delivering the event to the high standards the ride community expects and loves from the RATS. Thank you team!

21.01.2022 G’day Saturday morning social riders, This Saturday morning social ride is going to be held at Daisy Hill Forest, meeting at the main entrance car park for a 07:30 start, as always I look forward to seeing y’all smiling faces, what better way to kick off a weekend, just leave that crappie week behind you and live to ride and ride to live hmm that sounds familiar, anywho I’ll see y’all Saturday morning Hoo Roo

21.01.2022 Logan City Mountain Bike Strategy Really great to see Logan City Council taking the time to discuss the need for a Mountain Bike strategy for the city. Although we need to better explain how Mountain Biking is complementary to preserving and enhancing environmental values its a very positive sign to see the conversation being started at this level.... Special thanks to Councillor Lisa Bradley for putting forward the motion and for the other councillors for supporting it. As a community, this is an opportunity for us to demonstrate the opportunities for Logan to be recognised as a leader in providing well managed sustainable outdoor recreation. As a club, well continue to engage with local political leaders at all levels of government as well as with MTBA, land managers and the wider Mtb community including BORRA. https://youtu.be/ZuvsE398vH4?t=2053

21.01.2022 Good afternoon all, this Saturday morning social ride is going to be held at Daisy Hill Forest, meeting at the the main entrance car park. Now can I ask that we all make a concerted effort to arrive a bit earlier, say around 07:15 so as we can get our details sorted with Pat in regards to Covid and registration . So that we can rollout at 07:30 as the days are heating up , your cooperation would be appreciated and that way I won’t have to leave you behind because y’all be all sorted on time, and yes I have been a bit tardy in the past myself but no more. As always I look forward to seeing y’all smiling faces on Saturday morning. Hoo Roo

16.01.2022 For every dollar we invest in bike riding, that means $5 returned in economic benefit to our region dollars crucial as we turn the tide on COVID-19, Mr Bailey said Well done Mark Bailey MP - Cycling tourism infrastructure like this brings so much value to regional economies & communities. It would be great to have a state wide strategy that identifies opportunities to fund similar projects with a view to linking as many as possible.

14.01.2022 Saturday Social Ride 26 June With the end of the month and colder temperatures it’s time for a real away ride! It’s time to go back to Hidden Vale Adventure Park (HVAP) so clear your social diary.... Roll out will be 8.30am so ensure you arrive early enough to check in for the ride and be ready to roll out. Trails we will ride: Dodgem Western Creek Dandy's Intervention Devine Riders Creed Gorgeous Legless Lizard Skyfall Snappy Turtle Trailer Thrash Fairy Wren Plane Sailing We plan to be back in time for some food at the Barn Bar around lunch. https://g.page/hiddenvaleadventurepark?share

14.01.2022 Champion cyclist Robbie McEwen returned home to Daisy Hill at the weekend to compete in the Shimano MTB Grand Prix with his son Ewan. The multiple Tour De Franc...e Green Jersey winner was full of praise for the Daisy Hill Conservation Park track which is one of many mountain bike trails that dot the city. The event attracted both elite and novice riders. Junior World Champion and Brisbane rider Cameron Wright won the overall event. 13.01.2022 Hi All, Trail Care notification for Daisy Hill this Saturday. We know that a number of you are heading to events either for the XCO series or the GE series. We also know that the majority of our clubbies just love to ride the trails. Well if this is you then we would love to see you at the Daisy Hill Trail Care event on Saturday.... Between the Shimano GP event by Rocky Trail Events and an increase number of users on the trails during Covid we know the trails need a little love. 30mins or 2hours - every piece of help makes a difference. Regards Lonnie (Vice President)

13.01.2022 RATS Cycling Club has today made direct contact with the Queensland Sports Minister, as well as officials at the MTBA and at the Gold Coast MTB Club. An urgent letter has since been co-signed and sent to the Sports Minister with a request for him to take it up with the department. We are aware of the situation, and mountain bike clubs and the MTBA are working together, using our relationships with government to develop legal trails and extend networks in a safe and sustainable manner. We extend our support to GCMTB in preserving this iconic local destination.

12.01.2022 Gday all, this Saturday morning there will NOT be a social ride at Daisy Hill . As we are having an away social ride at Mt Joyce, in saying that there will be a lot of climbing involved with a few technical features thrown in, in short if you are new to MTB riding, this is not the ride for you . So we will be meeting at the closest car park to the trail head for a 08:30 start so when you turn into the Wyaralong dam road just keep following your nose until you cant drive any further and that is the car park where we will meeting, its huge, with ample parking. I dont know about yall but Im excited Hoo Roo.

12.01.2022 Tonights 7 Gold Coast News story on the trails

12.01.2022 Big thanks to Rocky Trail Entertainment for the great ShimanoGP event at Daisy Hill. The Rats Cycling Club will ensure that 100% of these funds are used by the Daisy Hill Trail Care team to sustain and improve the trail network. As we work with councils on increasing the trail networks available to Rats members and the broader mountain biking community, we know that events hosted by the Rats and partners like Rocky Trail Entertainment are critical to raise funds for maintenan...ce activities. Our Ultimate Goal More mountain bike trails in the Logan City Council and Redlands City Council areas, catering for the broad range of riding styles whilst conserving our local environments. Most importantly as a foundation for this goal is the trail networks maintained by mountain bikers through trail care teams. Posted by Lonnie Toia (Vice President) on behalf of the RatsCC Exec Committee.

05.01.2022 Good morning all, social ride is a GO , its going to be a damp ride so bring a towel, see yall there unless you dont turn up.

05.01.2022 Gday all, this Saturday morning social ride is going to be held at Daisy Hill Forest, meeting at the main entrance car park for a 07:30 start, but if this much needed rain , keeps hanging around , then there will be no ride but just keep an eye out for a post to confirm either way. Ok I have a quote that I think is worth sharing. Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. No person will make you happy unless you decide to be happy . Your happiness will not come to you . It can only come from you . Life is short so smile a lot Hoo Roo

04.01.2022 Thanks LCTA for the heads up on this. Another benefit of having clubs and trailcare teams working together to keep our forests and riders protected.

04.01.2022 **** NEW ADDRESS: MUST READ **** 2020 sees CITS move to a new site (and despite our best efforts, FB keeps reverting our address back to an old site). We are en...tering the event village on the LONG STREET, CLEVELAND, fireroad (not the bitumen section of Long St). On the day you will drive as far west as you can on Long St (which runs west off Wellington St, between Weippin St and Coburg St West). You will drive past a usually closed entry gate (picture attached). This will take you a few hundred metres up a firetrail, where a marshal will direct you to park. On Sunday, the entry will be bunted and marshalled to risk manage the crossing over a pedestrian/bike path. Look for the orange and blue balloons too. Please also be aware residents along the right hand side of the fireroad and near the event village are not all happy at our attendance, and be respectful of people and property (we know you will be!). Contact us on FB Messenger if youre lost, Please like or comment. Any questions or clarity needed, please ask here. DROPPED PIN MAP: https://goo.gl/maps/UMHeBePgAgC7YirD7

04.01.2022 Fantastic to see local representatives out at trailcare.

03.01.2022 On behalf of all RATS members I want to personally acknowledge the amazing efforts of BORRA campaigning to get more trail networks open to cyclists of all flavours. The campaign is not over and with a few hours left today there is still an opportunity for you to add your weight behind mountain biking in the Brisbane City Council areas. If you havent yet done so, please sign the petition before it closes tonight.... There have been a number of groups who have spread misinformation about mountain biking and its' impact. In fact many of them dont want to listen to the MTB community and how we can be part of the solution to sustainable trails and forests. BORRA - Brisbane Off-Road Riders Alliance started a petition to demonstrate the support for mountain biking and we need you to sign it. If you haven't already signed the petition to send a positive public message to the Brisbane City Council that we support the draft Off-Road Cycling Strategy, please take 2 minutes to sign the petition and share it to your friends. https://www.borra.org/ Thanks Lonnie President RATS Cycling Club

01.01.2022 SAD NEWS: POSTPONE Chicks in the Sticks has made the hard decision to postpone the 2020 Open Day to a date still to be decided. Todays immediate restrictions m...ean gatherings of more than 10 are banned without a COVIDSafe plan. While RATS Cycling Club has one - just because we can, doesnt mean we should. Social distancing can be difficult at trailheads, and in a group of happy, excited riders. We are aware some riders (and some ride leaders) will likely prefer not to attend, and so we choose to postpone, keep everyone safe, and ride again another day. We apologise for the late notice, but this helps keep everyone in the community safe.

01.01.2022 RATS Chicks: Who would be interested in leading a guided ride at Scribbly Gums on the Chicks in the Sticks open day on Aug 23? We are looking for experienced riders to lead group rides of about 7km, 12km or 21km. Requirements: Intermediate to advanced-level female rider who can navigate the trails at Redlands Track Park and is comfortable leading and organising a group of about 10. Our rides will be planned in a schedule (TBC) like:... 8am: 21km 9am: 12km 10am: 7km and juniors 10.30: 21km etc Each time slot may have more than one group heading out, thus requiring more leaders. We would like to ensure the groups all have a female leader from RATS Cycling Club. We will also need registration staff, and a couple of marshals would not go astray. Many thanks, LisaT

01.01.2022 Good evening all, No Saturday morning social ride this weekend or next weekend, no ride leaders available. Thank you and stay safe

01.01.2022 Good evening all, this Saturday morning social ride is going to be held at Daisy Hill Forest, meeting at the main entrance car park for a 07:30 start. As always I look forward to seeing yall smiling faces, bright and early on Saturday morning . Hoo Roo
