01.05.2022 From the Ravenshoe Fire crew, we wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas.

13.04.2022 Don't leave your upgrades to the last minute.

25.03.2022 TRUCK ETIQUETTE Ever been overtaken by a Fire and Rescue Service or Rural Fire Service fire truck with lights & sirens on, only to see them turn off shortly... after? Rest assured we aren’t doing it for the fun of it, and we’re certainly trying to keep other motorists safe. More than one truck can respond to an incident, so often the nearest truck will arrive on scene first and decide whether another truck(s) is required. These decisions are made quickly by those first on scene and relayed to the other truck(s) en route.

17.03.2022 From 1 Jan 2022, landlords must install interconnected smoke alarms in residential rental properties. The precious seconds it buys could make all the difference if parents are busy helping others. Get interconnected, it’s the law.

03.03.2022 Somethings to be mindful of to anyone with solar panels on their roof.

20.02.2022 Two separate explosions that were both caused by insect bombs! As the weather gets warmer, you might be tempted to eradicate insects from your home. If you are... planning on exterminating insects using insecticide bombs, please read all safety instructions on the label very carefully and ensure all possible ignition sources, such as pilot lights on appliances, are switched off. We had an incident last year where a family was lucky to be alive after their house was destroyed from using a large number of insect bombs at the same time against safety recommendations!

10.01.2022 Have you come across any of these weird looking things while strolling along the beach? This canister which contained aluminium phosphide pellets was found on... a remote beach in Far North QLD last week. If exposed to moisture, flammable, toxic phosphine gas is produced from the pellets. It can affect your respiratory and circulatory system if you come into contact with it. If you see something that resembles one of these canisters, do not touch it If you’re in a remote area with no mobile phone coverage, you can take photos of the canister and surrounding area and record the latitude and longitude (if safe to do so) to relay to the authorities when you can. If you do have coverage, call Triple Zero and ask for ‘fire’. Firefighters are trained to respond to HAZMAT incidents and will be able to safely remove a canister before making sure the area is safe. 05.01.2022 Initial Flood Watch for parts of the eastern Gulf and western Cape between Normanton and Kowanyama, and the North Tropical Coast between Cooktown and Ingham Iss...ued at 1:57 pm EST on Saturday 2 January 2021 Flood Watch Number: 1 Minor to moderate flooding likely in the Flood Watch area from Sunday. A tropical low over the western Gulf of Carpentaria is expected to move east-southeast and intensify during Sunday, bringing heavy rainfall to the Flood Watch area from Sunday. The area of heavy rainfall is expected to extend to the North Tropical Coast overnight Sunday into Monday from Cooktown down to Ingham, with heavy rainfall persisting for a few days. Most catchments in the Flood Watch area have recorded rainfall totals of at least 100-300 mm in the past week, with river level rises currently being recorded at many locations. This will likely impact roads and travel in the Flood Watch area, with potential too for property flooding. Localised flooding and disruption to transport routes are expected throughout the Flood Watch area from Sunday. Catchments likely to be affected include: Norman River Gilbert River Mitchell River Staaten River Daintree River Mossman River Barron River Mulgrave and Russell Rivers Johnstone River Tully River Murray River Herbert River
