19.01.2022 RAVENSHOE GOLF NOTES 01/11/20 Channelling flamboyant golfer, John Daly, Shane Soper dazzled the opposition to win the November Monthly Medal. Everyone will be looking to purchase a pair of those pants Shane! Runner-up was the consistent Prudence Wright.... Next Sunday we will be playing the Summer Cup. This is one of our oldest trophies and is played using the Canadian Foursomes format. There will be a draw for partners for this prestigious event. Once again, a big thank you to members of our local community for your support of our popular Social Nights. C u @ the 19th

19.01.2022 Ravenshoe Golf Notes 23/08/20 Lovely winter weather was the order of the day at Mount Garnet as a large number of players turned up for the second round of the Tableland Challenge 2020. Mt Garnet won the day, closely followed Millaa Millaa.... Best players for Ravenshoe were Tarnia Wright and Abby McEwan, with Prudence Wright and Caraline Soper close on their heels. Girl Power Rules! With all scores tallied the status of the competition shows Millaa Millaa having a lead of of a shot from Ravenshoe in the overall scores. Another close result is expected when we play the final round in Millaa Millaa in October. A big thank you to Mount Garnet for another successful day. Next Sunday we will have a Social day for everyone: the first one for many months. So dust off your clubs and come on out for a fun competition. Start time will be 10 am and the competition will be a 9 Hole 2 Ball Ambrose. Thank you once again to the local community for your on-going support of our Social nights, its very pleasing to see locals being able to get out and about. Also best wishes to Club Stalwart, Dave Cassels who is having a few health issues at the moment. Get well soon Dave. C u @ the 19th Kate

Next Sunday is the August Monthly Medal, register from 8.30 am with the first group teeing off from 9.30 am. Sunday 23rd sees the second round of the Tableland Challenge at Mt Garnet so let Tarnia know if you can play and who your playing partner is.... We will need to confirm numbers to Mount Garnet by the middle of next week at the latest. Friday nights Social was well attended and again we thank the local community for your on-going support of this event. With some of our regular volunteers out of action at the moment, we wish to sincerely thank all those who have come forward to help around the club and at the clubhouse. Your help is very much appreciated. C u @ the 19th Kate "Pressure is playing for 10 dollars when you've only got five in your pocket." - Lee Trevino

18.01.2022 RAVENSHOE GOLF NOTES 27/09/20 In a closely fought contest, the Grigg Shield was won by Shane Soper and Mark Skehan on Sunday. The margin was of a shot from Caraline Soper and Shane Escott.... Prudence Wright continued her good form, winning the Open Girls section at Mount Garnet GC's inaugural Junior Open event on Sunday as well. Prue had a fine 76 off the stick. Good luck to all of our members who are participating in the 2020 Champion of Champions event at the Palmer Sea Reef Golf Course, Port Douglas next weekend. For all our other members, there will be a club trophy for those playing at home. 11th October (Sunday) date claimer, the Torimba Festival Ambrose and everyone are welcome to play (Social Players, Members and Visitors), more details next week. This will be a good warm up for the last round of the 2020 Tableland Challenge. Speaking of Tableland Challenge, please let Tarnia know as soon as possible who you are pairing with for Sunday the 18th October at Millaa Millaa Golf Club. Millaa Millaa has two things in their favour as the final round favourites; a small lead overall and home ground advantage. Friday night is Social Night so C u @ the 19th. Kate

12.01.2022 RAVENSHOE GOLF NOTES 13/09/20 Local Junior, Prudence Wright enjoyed a busy week of golf, culminating in the MOSSMAN GOLF CLUB JUNIOR OPEN on Sunday. Prudy was the runner-up in the Gross Event and also claimed the title of the best putter. Earlier in the week, she participated for Peninsula in the Qld State Schools Titles held in Cairns over 4 days. Prudy is a worthy ambassador for our club.... After a hectic weekend of footy finals, club golfers were scarce on the ground today. Those that did play enjoyed a social round in the cooler conditions. Next Sunday we will be playing for the Ravenshoe Butchery Trophy, so come along and support one of our local businesses. Friday night is Social night. Since re-opening with COVID19 restrictions in place, these nights have been well attended. Thank you to those who support us each fortnight. C u @ the 19th Kate

06.01.2022 Had a query re the new OB Rule. Below is a further explanation. The hole in question was fence on 14. The below explains it well. Keep in mind however the drop ...point is to be no closer to the hole. Therefore if you have not reached the fairway then you will have to drop in the longer grass or rough. Any queries ask me for further explanation on Saturday or Thursday. Play well next time you are at Royal Mossman. New Golf Rules Explained: Local Rules One interesting result of the 2019 Rules revisions is a permissible new Local Rules that will provide an alternative to stroke and distance for a ball that is either lost or out of bounds. Heres how it would work where adopted If your ball is lost or out of bounds, find an equidistant point on the edge of the fairway (your fairway reference point) to where you believe your ball is either lost or went out of bounds (your ball reference point) and then drop somewhere between the two, with a further two club lengths leeway (either side for a lost ball) under penalty of two strokes

05.01.2022 RAVENSHOE GOLF NOTES 26/07/20 With a recent increase in new members, the Match play has been postponed to give some of the new members a chance to get their handicaps. Returning member, Joel Fitzgerald was the winner of the stroke event.... Next Sunday is the first round of the Tableland Challenge 2020 and numbers are looking good. As the holder of the trophy, it will be all hands on deck for this long running event. Please arrive before 9 am so the field can get away on time. During the week Tableland Regional Council gave the final approval for our Stay and Play initiative. This allows travelling golfers to stay at the course and have a round or two of golf. We look forward to welcoming the Grey Nomad golfers and other visitors to the district. Again, a big thanks to the local community for your continued support of our club with your attendance at our Friday night socials. C u @ the 19th. Kate

05.01.2022 RAVENSHOE GOLF NOTES 16/08/2020 In a reversal of last weeks results, Dave Cassels took out the August Monthly Medal with Mark Skehan the runner-up on a countback with a Nett 72. There was then a 4 way tie on Nett 74 that countbacks were used to decide the order for the Medal Aggregate. Danny Bradley won the Gross event.... Next Sunday is the second round of the Tableland Challenge at Mt Garnet. We will need to play well to keep our slight lead so make sure you have nominated your team with Tarnia. This Friday night is Social Dinner night. The clubhouse opens at 5.30 pm with meals served from 6. All are welcome to attend with the club following COVID19 regulations. Tarnia has also put in place Web-Based Check-In System for when people attend the Club (for any event), so you can either register pen and paper style or you can use your mobile phone. C u @ the 19th Kate

04.01.2022 RAVENSHOE GOLF NOTES 30/08/20 Inclement weather obviously deterred the social golfers on Sunday. A couple of hardy members had a practice round. Next Sunday is the September Monthly Medal so a good turn out will be expected. Time is running out to secure your Medal for 2020 and a spot in the Medal of Medals.... The Committee is working on a program for the rest of the year, taking into account some of the competitions missed earlier due to COVID19. This should be available soon. Friday night is Social Dinner Night and all are welcome to attend. The Bar is open from 5.30 pm and meals are served from 6pm. C u @ the 19th Kate

02.01.2022 Hi everyone in our local community, This morning one of our lovely volunteers was approached by two males (one with an accent) in a White Utility Vehicle advocating for the Club (or them) to engage/purchase/pay for their services for bitumen work. In the link below it sets out quite clearly to be very careful if you are approached, and now it appears that we in our local community are being targeted....
