25.01.2022 You're used to seeing the local animals who visit our Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation, but take a look at some of the other animals that visit our sites overseas! Our guests include baby sloths, turtles and eagles in Panama, giraffes and zebras in Zambia and flamingos in Spain! Tell us which are your favourites!

22.01.2022 A small flock of Carnaby's cockatoos take flight over the RNO plant into the fiery July sunset.

21.01.2022 Does this view look familiar to you? It already feels like summer was a long time ago, but it won't be too long until we get these kinds of days again. Share a picture of your favourite local look-out point!

19.01.2022 Thank you to the Hopetoun and Ravensthorpe CRCs for hosting us at the recent Mining Business Information Session. We loved having the opportunity to present our future projects to the local community, and we couldn’t be prouder to hold membership #1 of the Fitzgerald Business Network! Well done to everyone involved in setting up this fantastic initiative.

18.01.2022 Make sure you head down to Hopetoun's Community Centre tomorrow evening to catch the opening night of their very own Porch Project photographic art exhibition! Dene Bingham, Photographer is a long-time friend of RNO and has taken some beautiful shots of our mine in the past, and we can’t wait to see her latest project come to life. Fantastic to see the Ravensthorpe Regional Arts Council supporting this incredible local project we’ll see you there!

17.01.2022 RNO ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP Great news for RNO’s future major South Korean company POSCO has locked in a long-term supply of our nickel and cobalt products, which are critical for electric vehicle batteries. This has been secured by POSCO acquiring a 30% stake in RNO, however there will be no change in the operations or management, with day-to-day running of the mine staying the same. ... We’re looking forward to partnering with POSCO, a forward-looking company leading the way in the development of green steel and new battery technology as part of the drive to lower global carbon emissions. The full announcement can be found below.

15.01.2022 Set a reminder for this Sunday 6th at 1:30pm, because the Shire of Ravensthorpe is the focus of this week’s episode of Our Town on 7TWO. Make sure you keep an eye out for RNO employees Johann and Katie our local celebrities!

14.01.2022 We’re expanding RNO with the new Shoemaker-Levy Mining pit, which means controlled blasting will shortly be taking place on the North side of the South Coast Highway. Blasts will occur 3 times a week at 2pm to open up this new Mine. We’ll need to close the South Coast Highway for a maximum of 20 minutes each blast because the road is within our safety zone. We know this will be inconvenient for short periods, however, safety of road users comes first. We do appreciate your c...ooperation. If you’re travelling along the South Coast Highway between Ravensthorpe and the Jerdacuttup turn-off at 2pm, please be prepared for a short wait at a road closure. Please be patient with our traffic controllers: their job is to keep you safe during the blasting, then get you on your way as soon as possible. To receive regular notifications before each blast, please contact [email protected]. Map tiles by Stamen Design, under CC BY 3.0. Data by OpenStreetMap, under ODbL.

13.01.2022 The wildflower show has been and gone, but the wildflowers are sticking around! The famous farm gate art trail is looking particularly spectacular at the moment with the addition of everlastings along the roadside.

13.01.2022 What do you do when you see a blue tree? You talk about it! That’s the idea behind ‘The Blue Tree Project’ talking about mental health. This is our very own blue tree on site, painted by our mining contractor MACA. If you, or anyone you know, is struggling with mental health, please reach out to a mate, a councillor, or the free FQM Employee Assistance Provider Relationships Australia. ... Problems can be solved but people can’t be replaced. #itsoktonotbeok

12.01.2022 Shoemaker Levy might be 10km away, but it's getting closer every day! We have been hard at work constructing the overland conveyor that will take our product from the deposit to the processing plant. Shoemaker Levy will extend RNO's mine life by another 20 years, cementing our future in the region.

11.01.2022 FIRST SHIPMENT ACHIEVED AT RNO Did you spot the CMA CGM Puccini in Esperance Port last week? The ship has now departed for China, loaded with 3,250 tonnes of MHP product, marking a key milestone in the mine’s re-opening. Thanks to all our dedicated local team who’ve worked so hard to get the mine operational again.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to all the winners at this year’s Albany CCI Awards, and particularly to Mel from Alkaline Cafe who won the Sustainability Award and Business Person of the Year. It was fantastic to see everyone celebrating regional businesses and their contribution to the local economy. We're a proud sponsor of the CCI Awards, and the innovation and vibrancy they support in our business community.

10.01.2022 It’s officially the Festive Season! We kicked up our heels at the RNO Christmas party over the weekend, celebrating the team’s hard work in getting the mine back up and running in an extraordinarily challenging year. Thanks to everyone who attended, and all the local suppliers who made the day possible particularly the Hopetoun GOLF CLUB, Wavecrest Bar and Bistro - Hopetoun, Shipwrecked Gourmet Bakery and Yummylicious Candy Shack. ... Take a look at some of the snaps from the day from the fabulous Dene Bingham, Photographer below

07.01.2022 We're proud to be celebrating WA Day at Ravensthorpe Nickel Operation - we're sure you can agree that our little corner of the state is the best part!

07.01.2022 Don’t forget, our Town Hall information evening is next Wednesday May 26th. Everyone is invited to hear about RNO’s progress and encouraged to ask questions after the discussion. We hope to see you there!

06.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW All of First Quantum’s deposits are named after comets? The current deposit, Hale-Bopp, is nearing the end of its useful life. That means it’s time for Shoemaker Levy to shine.... A secondary deposit located 8km from the processing plant, Shoemaker Levy will allow RNO to continue operating for approximately another 20 years that’s out of this world! And now work is getting underway. Stay tuned for more updates about this important development.

06.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who came down to the CRC last night to our Get to know RNO community briefing. Our GM David de Vries explained our progress since re-start in 2020, milestones for the Shoemaker Levy project, our residential population and accommodation needs in Hopetoun. We also discussed how the results of our recent community survey will influence the way we work with the local community. We also talked jobs, jobs and more jobs! We’ve got a range of technical and trade positions available, plus 21 positions for people without mining experience. You’ll see our recruitment drive popping up soon, but if you’re interested visit www.GoRNO.com.au now to apply.

04.01.2022 We couldn't agree more Mark McGowan - all the ingredients are here to make WA a world-leader in battery technology and production. Here at RNO we produce Nickel MHP, one of the key components needed to make batteries, and we’d love to see that product staying in Australia creating more jobs for WA. We’ll be watching this one with interest!

04.01.2022 Work officially started on Shoemaker Levy last week with our first concrete pour on site. This small pile of concrete is the first part of the footing for the first primary crusher a vital piece of infrastructure.

02.01.2022 These aren’t just your average piles of dirt they represent 45 metres of reverse circulation drilling. They show the variety of what’s sitting underground with minerals including limonite and saprolite. At Ravensthorpe we transform our rich earth into bright green hydroxide precipitate which is exported from Esperance and used to produce nickel and cobalt. ... Thanks to our senior GEO @iva.mj for these great shots.

01.01.2022 A great shot of an amazing honey bee swarm captured by one of our team. Did you know that it is estimated one bee has to fly roughly 140,000km three times around the globe to make about 450g of honey?
