25.01.2022 We've already made it to October!! Usually we would post our monthly calendar for October, but this coming school term we are going to do our calendar a little bit differently. We've listened to some feedback about reading the calendar and next week we will share the Term 4 calendar so everyone knows which programs and playgroups are coming up. Stay tuned while we finalise a few details and we look forward to sharing the new calendar next week!
25.01.2022 Good morning. This morning Donna and Kelsey are getting ready to 'shake our sillies out' and 'zoom zoom' around the room while we're 'shaking our maracas' and hiding scarves. We hope you can join us at 10am.
25.01.2022 'Twas the night before Christmas and all were so keen, to see where Santa was going, and where he had been! ... Luckily in the households there were tech-savvy hands to search on the internet and scour all the lands! Google Santa Tracker makes it possible to follow Santa on his sleigh ride around the world. Just search for Santa in Google Maps or visit https://santatracker.google.com/ We hope Santa visits your Ho Ho Hooome!
24.01.2022 Please remember the CFC will be open only for pre-booked appointments this week.
24.01.2022 We are really excited to bring this wonderful opportunity to our families to celebrate during Book Week this year. Alex Morse is a fantastic music workshop facilitator who has worked at a number of CFCs and we are really looking forward to invite her to the Ravenswood CFC on October 22nd. Come prepared for a dance and a sing-a-long. Numbers are very limited for this workshop so please RSVP quickly to avoid disappointment. Edit to add: As per our usual policy, Ravenswood/Waverley zoned families will be given preference as they are in our CFC area. Sorry for any disappointment.
24.01.2022 The end of the year is almost here, and along with all our other groups, we finished Bringing Up Great Kids last week. Bringing Up Great Kids is a program that supports parents to explore their parenting style and grow their relationship with their children. It also focuses on helping parents develop ways to care for themselves so they can be more available for their children. Deb and Cecily valued the great conversations about the highs and lows of parenting. It was a pleasure to run the group. Well done to our mums who completed the program during a busy term.

15.01.2022 Merry Christmas Ravenswood CFC!! Thank you to everyone who was able to make it today to celebrate Christmas and the end of the year together. We had families playing in nearly every corner of the CFC, inside and out, making Christmas crafts, riding ponies, making delicious fruity Christmas trees and Santas but the best fun was catching up with Santa Claus. What a fantastic way to finish up the year! Photos part 1

12.01.2022 Goodbye from Cecily. Today is my last day working at the CFC. I don’t think I have ever loved a job as much as I have loved working with all of you. Thank you for trusting me and sharing your stories with me. Thank you for having a go at all the things we’ve made in Makers and Yarners. Thank you for your courage in making changes in your life. ... And most of all, thank you for being there for your children every single day. Being a parent is hard work, and I have seen all the ways you love your children and work to be the best parent you can. You are all amazing. Next year there will be new staff at the CFC, and they will give you support and care - you are not alone on your parenting journey. It’s always ok to ask for help and you can find it at the CFC. All the best to you as you help your children grow.

11.01.2022 Get Active Program - Super Mums & Super Kids - Week 4, and the final session for 2020. The discussion was around self care and stress management. We had Jacinda from Relationships Australia come and have discussion with the group along with a visual demonstration of some of the things we need to remember as mums. ... It was a real eye opening! The group made face masks to take home and use, and the kids decorated the containers for them. ... If you are interested in this program for Term 1, 2021 then please come and speak with Verity on a Thursday or Friday. 07.01.2022 How many of these can you tick off this coming week? What is your child's favourite thing from this list? I know my kids especially benefit from getting out into nature with sunlight, even if they think they don't want it :) One needs lots of cuddles and another doesn't like hugs but thrives on the routines and rituals we have in our house. ~ Donna
05.01.2022 Our KEY MESSAGE is all about READING. When reading books with children we can bring their attention to the print or words by talking about the size, colour and shape of the font. We can point to the words and count them. What else can you do to bring attention to the words?
04.01.2022 Week 2 of our Community Cooking for Children, facilitated by the wonderful Danielle, was a big success. Lots of children had a taste of the foods they were using, which can be a huge experience for children, and some children even finished off their healthy treats. Lots of new skills, like cutting and chopping and peeling, are being learnt and practised in this program and we are very lucky to have this opportunity. We will have one more cooking session on Friday Dec 11th for this year and will welcome Danielle back in 2021 to continue the program.
03.01.2022 We all need to work on keeping our emotions and behaviours calm and consistent and our children need a little bit more help to be able to learn how to manage this for themselves. Here's some of the basic things children need our support with to manage their big feelings.
