25.01.2022 NEW MENU Rawa is on next Wednesday, and we have a really exciting menu lined up Our appetiser this week is a spanner crab doughnut. This tasty little savoury morsel will have a smoked paprika mayonnaise and some fresh chervil.... For those who don't eat seafood, we'll be doing creamy avocado version. The second course is a tartare of either kangaroo or beetroot. Kangaroo is one of the most sustainable meats available in Australia, and we think everyone should be eating more of it. We'll be showing you how versatile this meat can be with a beautiful tartare, flavoured with white miso and citrus and served with sea succulent and pickled radish. The main course will be a lovely piece of market fresh fish (or a whole zucchini if you don't eat seafood), served with a pipi beurre blanc now that fresh pipis are in season. Freshly harvested asparagus, crushed kipfler potatoes and parsley round out this course. And finally - the dessert is a pannacotta infused with the flavour of cinnamon myrtle, servied with a hazelnut praline. Cinnamon myrtle is a native Australian ingredient that flourishes in the area. It has a distinctively cinnamon flavour, perfect for subtly imparting flavour into our dessert. Bookings can be made via our website

19.01.2022 It's our 20th rawa Which means we have a really special menu planned for you. We'd love to see you there! First up we have a coastal twist on a japanese classic - Karaage fish! This crispy, battered bite will be served with a cucamelon salsa on a nasturtium leaf. Not sure what a cucamelon in? It's a micro-sized watermelon looking fruit that tastes like cucumber with a punchier flavour! Vegetarians will get the same experience with a banana blossom in place of the fish - ban...ana blossom has an amazingly similar texture to fish so makes for the perfect plant-based alternative. Second course will be grilled squid (or pine mushroom for the plant-based) served with a zesty dressing of aji panca chilli - a mild south american with a uniquely sweet flavour. This will be served with tasty pickled cumquats that were harvested from the stunning grounds of @figtreerestaurant in Ewingsdale. The main course will be a b-e-a-utiful pice of sirloin steak served with sweet potato flavoured with star anise, charred cos lettuce, jerusalem artichoke crisps and japanese togarashi (a delicious spice blend). Our plant-based friends will received a caramelized white miso eggplant in place of the steak. And finally - our beautiful dessert this week will be caramelized quince served with coconut gelato and macadamia crumb! We cannot thank you enough for supporting us since the start of the pandemic, and we hope to see you at our 20th Rawa. Bookings can be made via our website, our earlier tables book out quickly. See you then!

17.01.2022 Crissssspy wontons with a homemade chilli jam, and stuffed with fragrant lemongrass and ginger and prawn Definitely a favourite.

16.01.2022 Hola to our week eight menu for next Wednesday the 7th of October This menu is heavily inspired by dishes of Ecuador but with a contemporary twist. The flavours will be salty and citrusy with a little bit of sweetness, and a lot of surprises.... We have only 1 table for 4 left at 8.30pm and we have a small number of tables for 1-3 people available at all seatings. Book on our website rawabyronbay.com.au See you next week

15.01.2022 Smoked duck on a lush bed on carrot and ginger puree with some seasonal choi sum. Next week's menu will be announced tomorrow Bookings rawabyronbay.com.au

15.01.2022 It's been a lot of fun travelling the globe at Rawa these last few weeks while enduring closed borders, but now that spring has reared her glorious head we're going to be changing our tune a little and bringing you something different. Week seven's menu is an ode to balmy nights, with a little bit of sweet and a little bit of spice. We'll be sourcing the freshest and most delicious market fish available on the day so that's a surprise in wait, while the rest of the menu wil...l be an fusion of punchy flavours making the most of the blooming produce we've been able to get our hands on. Bookings can be made on our website rawabyronbay.com.au, and as always B.Y.O wine, beer and best friends

15.01.2022 Rawa's last event took our patrons on a journey to France, and the beef bourguignon was a (very filling) favourite! Made traditionally and perfectly paired with this beautiful french Chinon by our friends over at @spanishspeakingwine

13.01.2022 Jipijapa Oyster Mushrooms Tiradito!! How beautiful was this dish at our last pop up!!!

12.01.2022 Our eighteenth menu is ready, and we only have a few tables left! First up we have croquetas! Spanish style creamy-as-can-be potato parcels with jamon serrano or pumpkin and spinach inside, and a crispy panko-crumb outside. Served with a charred spring onion puree for dipping The second course we have our take on 'pulpo a la gallega' - an octopus dish also from Spain. Traditionally it would be served with potato, but for our take we'll be using the Jerusalem artichoke - whi...ch despite the name is not at all related to the more common globe artichoke. Jerusalem artichoke is a root vegetable resembling ginger, but with a rich and nutty flavour. It'll pair beautifully with the soft and tender Octopus, which will then have a zesty 'pimenton de la vera' emulsion to bring it all to life. Pimention de la vera is a Spanish spice similar to Paprika but with a uniquely smoky flavour. The main course is one for the books. A very slowly cooked lamb shoulder braised in red wine, served with dauphinoise potatoes (that's french-style creamy, layered potatoes for those following), parsnip puree, cardamom and crispy fried rosemary. Our herbivores will enjoy roasted pepper and eggplant in place of the lamb. Yum yum. And finally - dessert is a sweet-as-can-be strawberry tart with made from Sicilian genovesi pastry and filled with pistachio-flavoured custard cream You'll need to book ASAP via our website as we only have limited seating left. See you there

10.01.2022 Next week's rawa will be the last! ...for a while. We're taking a muuucho needed break so we can work on improving the rawa experience, and to also work on an exciting new branch of the business 22 events in 11 months - it's been an incredible, exciting journey to say the least. Bringing you completely new menus every week has been a challenge for sure, but we are so proud of what we've been able to achieve and cannot wait to bring you more. Your feedback has been amazing, ...we didn't think we'd keep going for so long - but we now have the drive to keep rawa in Byron Bay for as long as we can. So goodbye for now, we'll be back in a few months Our final event will be NEXT WEDNESDAY 26TH MAY. And it's a doozy, strap in. We're pulling out all the stops and getting very creative with this menu, if you love an adventure you will not want to miss this one. We are really excited Menu explanation in comments!
