04.01.2022 We are not for everyone, but we may be for you & your kids. What we do is beyond martial arts and self defence, we just haven't come up with a fancy name for it...yet : ) In the kids classes we have FUN! To do this we play games like dodgeball. This teaches them many things and we even break down some of the skills e.g. throwing and understanding how to control their anxiety about being hit and moving incorrectly or too soon. Both of these things relate to self defence a...nd life in general. We also teach them the basics of self protection through chatting, playing, and doing. We do not turn them into little fighting machines, we do what we can to balance them out into confident wee humans. Our teens class follow a similar path but we go deeper into self protection and martial foundations. Again, we make sure they have fun as for us it's the best way to learn. It's got little to do with fighting as it's more about understanding yourself, what you can and can't do as well as how to interact with those around you. Here's some of the things we DON'T do: Bow Wear Gi's Wear belts Have gradings Use a different language (although my accent could be counted as that...hmmm) We're not saying the above things are bad, or good, it's just something we don't do here at RAW. If you like any of the stuff that we don't do then we are MORE than happy to suggest other great clubs around the area that do that sort of stuff. We are here to help and if that means that we don't have what you're after then we will do what we can to find somewhere that is right for you and your kids. 04.01.2022 Over the years I've wanted to be the best I can be, and have endeavored to do this in several fields of my life. What I've noticed is that it's almost a bit pointless attempting to be the best. In fact, I believe just striving to be the best has got more chance of just making you broken. Just be 'ENOUGH'. You really only need to be 'strong enough', 'fit enough', 'rich enough', 'happy enough',and a plethora of other 'enoughs'. I've had many conversations over the years about a...ll of those things, and more, but the biggest one I believe is being 'happy enough'. Content if you will. Now, in this society of bigger, better, faster, cooler, and dare I say wankier is seems like a cop out. I truly believe it isn't, and if you're chasing 'happiness' you may be setting yourself up for not having it at all, ever! I love being content in lots of facets of my life and I believe you can be/feel this way too. Let's stop chasing the bullshit and 'just be' it's honestly way better. It's been a while since I've had a bit of a rant and now I feel so much better : )
