09.01.2022 REIKI? WHATS ALL THAT ABOUT!? This is a question I get asked a lot! Well the definition of the word reiki is made of two Japanese words. 'Rei' means 'higher power' and 'Ki' means life force. So Reiki means spirituality guided life force energy. ... To me it's like plugging yourself into the wall socket of life. If I want a cup of tea, I plug the kettle into the electrical energy socket we have in our homes and voilà, I make my cuppa! If I want Reiki I plug myself into the universe's energy socket of life and 'bish bosh bash' I'm being recharged. How do I do that? I can't tell you, you have to know the secret hand shake! Honestly I cannot explain how it happens, it just does. When you're trained to become a reiki practitioner we go through an attunement process, passed on from teacher to student, which opens up a special link between the student and the reiki source. It's pretty mind blowing! When I start a treatments I do ask for it to be 'switched on' by a little saying I have and some visualisations. I know, all a bit hippy sounding, but that's my thing. Well I volunteer at the cancer wellness centre and give reiki to cancer sufferers. I can also help by signing up to a study to assist the Cancer Council to better understand the link between genes and lifestyle.
