25.01.2022 How are you?....The person asking doesn't really want to know, and the person responding doesn't tell the truth. What follows is a lost opportunity and meaningless exchange with zero connection. When I’m not being intentional + maybe even a little bit on the robotic side, I am definitely guilty of asking this question. But when present and intentional I definitely side more with these other questions to dig a little deeper with friends and family to get a more informativ...e answer. If we are striving for vulnerability and honest answers, we may need to side step to a more conscious asking. 11.01.2022 Cut the toxic CRAP For years I’ve been hearing about coffee enemas, but the scary stories scared me. I have a history of digestive issues and the idea of anything possibly exacerbating that situation deterred me. And let’s face it: the idea of sticking coffee up my rear wasn’t all that appealing. It’s pretty easy to write it off as crazy. I couldn’t believe the results.... First of all the energy! I felt incredible. In rural parts of India, 88% of menstruating individuals don’t have access to pads being forced to resort to rags and deal with infections. In Kenya, over 60% of m...enstruating children miss school because of their period. And things aren’t much better in other countries like the U.S. where inmates are sometimes only allotted three pads per month, having to barter or show prison guards their soiled pads for more products. Since 2014, May 28th has been recognized as Menstrual Hygiene Day, a day that breaks the silence, raises awareness and changes negative social norms around MHM, and engages decision-makers to increase the political priority and catalyse action for MHM, at global, national and local levels. Quite often the narrative as a female can be more negative around our cycles however we have found once women have babies, they feel more inclined to start to connect to their cycle. In the same way that the moon waxes and wanes, so too do your energy levels as your hormones rise and fall throughout each month. ... These hormonal fluctuations affect your moods, sex drive, concentration, physical strength, intuition and even the pitch of your voice. The first day of your period is your bright red permission slip to take time for self-care. At this point in your cycle, your hormones and energy levels are at their lowest. The more you rest in your bleeding days, the more likely you are to kick butt later in the month during the Waxing Moon (pre-ovulation) and Full Moon (ovulation) phases. During your Dark Moon Phase: Be kind to yourself - take three deep breaths in the morning, or run yourself a bath when the house is quiet. Give yourself attention - take an extra few minutes in the shower, listen for the quiet feelings in your heart and your belly. Drink warm tea and nourishing broths, give yourself a face mask, breast massage or hair treatment using your favourite essential oils and products.
