13.01.2022 Wild weekend in our region, storms rolled in early Saturday morning, wind gusts, and thunder so deep rattling the stone house & windows. No damage to buildings, flooded in at Ulowdna til lunchtime with 58mm in the rain gauge recorded. Caravan park dam filled once again and a spectacular sunset to finish the day. Today however windy and another dust storm. ... Gotta love the outback! Please check road conditions as some roads are still closed. www.dpti.sa.gov.au

12.01.2022 Jesse & Marion enjoyed the guided Daybreak Summit walk yesterday with Tony. This eight-km walk is an extended version of the Daybreak Loop Walk, with the additional challenge of a climb to the top of Rawnsley Bluff. From here there are magnificent views of Rawnsley Park Station and the Flinders Ranges you can even see into Wilpena Pound. At Rawnsley Bluff there is a dry stone survey cairn, constructed by Samuel Parry in 1858 as a trigonometrical survey marker.... Rawnsley Bluff was named after H.C. Rawnsley who falsely presented himself as a surveyor to the Governor of South Australia in 1850. Within three months he was found to be incompetent and discharged.
