28.04.2022 Welcome news that Western Australia will soon re-open to the rest of the country after it's long, enforced isolation. March 3rd is the date that triple vaccinated travellers will be admitted to WA again without any requirements for quarantine. This means we can welcome people onto two great trips we operate in WA once again; The ever popular Cape to Cape in Margaret river and the wonderful Camino Salvado pilgrimage walking through rural WA to New Norcia. We expect accommodation places will fill very quickly with this news so don't delay in contacting us if you have ambitions to walk in 2022 on these walks.

26.04.2022 Spain's Galician landscapes have been delighting Camino walkers for years! Next week, this historical region hosts an exciting international cycling event O Gran Camiño 2022. From 24 to 27 February, the peloton will complete four stages in each of Galicia's four provinces. The second stage will pass through A Coruña and showcase some of the most iconic points of the Camino de Santiago.

13.04.2022 We all love our beaches whether here in Australia where we're blessed with so many or wherever you live - but the challenge is the same all over; the oceans are degraded with huge amounts of plastic now and its taking a huge toll on marine life, which is already under assault from commercial fishing fleets. When we take people on beach walks in fairly remote parts of our local coastline it is shocking to see how much plastic is there. We do try and clean it up as we go but ...usually there is more than you can carry. Please take some action and get involved in some way: whether reducing your own plastic usage with single use items or actively supporting beach clean ups or donating to campaigns if you live far from one! Sea Shepherd and Beach Patrol are one of a few organisations that have regular beach clean ups. Check out what they are doing and give up an hour or two of your time to make a small difference to our oceans.

06.04.2022 The long awaited announcement: Australia will be finally open to the rest of the world from February 21 after 2 years of border closure. Scott Morrison announced the milestone following a meeting of the National Security Council today. I know the tourism industry will be looking forward to that and over the next two weeks they’ll get the opportunity both for visitors to be coming and for them to be gearing up to welcome international visitors back to Australia, he said, acc...ording to the Australian. The condition is you must be double vaccinated to come to Australia. That’s the rule. Everyone is expected to abide by it. Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews said unvaccinated travellers will need to apply for an exemption and will have to undergo hotel quarantine if they are granted permission, according to ABC News.

Victorian residents will be able to apply for one of the 120,000 vouchers provided they spend at least $400 on accommodation, attractions or tours in the state’s regional areas. So any of our Victorian walks should be eligible for the scheme as they are all in regional areas like the Great Ocean Walk, Grampians, Great South West walk, high country, Wilson's Prom and Mornington Peninsula. 09.01.2022 'The Aussie Camino' trips have proven very popular, we now only have places left on one remaining departure next Sept. as the others have sold out. 03.01.2022 LET’S HEAR ABOUT YOUR LOCKDOWN WALKS! Has walking helped you stay sane, fit and healthy during lockdown? We’d love to hear about your experiences . . ... . A bunch of RAW Travel staff signed up for the Women of Spirit Project ‘Why Women Walk’ virtual challenge during lockdown, setting the goal to walk up to 500km by 25 October. Our publications specialist Jayne reached her goal this week, hitting 300km. I’ve spent lockdown by the Yarra River in Melbourne, and since this walking challenge has taken place during with a 5km radius, I reckon I’ve discovered every bumpy rock on the trail! Late in the challenge Jayne discovered a tiny slither of the CBD was in her 5km radius, so shook things up a bit with some almost-empty skyscraper-lined city streets, as well as past State Parliament and through Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens. When I signed up I figured I could walk 5km a day or 25km week, and I’ve pretty much stuck to it, bringing my kids with me, walking to the shops instead of driving, and also keeping up my usual running training. It’s really kept my spirits up during lockdown too! #lockdownwalk #staysane #slowdown
