25.01.2022 Best of luck IAS Rally Team, let us know how you go!
23.01.2022 Do you know the differences between semi-metallic and ceramic brake pads? How about which type of friction you should put on your vehicle? Test your knowledge in this week's brake trivia!
13.01.2022 The Best in Brakes is making a special throwback appearance in the NASCAR Xfinity Series later this summer. We are excited to partner with Kaulig Racing for its 2019 Darlington Throwback scheme for the Sports Clips Haircuts VFW 200 at Darlington Raceway on Aug. 31. Raybestos will don the No. 11 Chevy, piloted by Justin Haley. The scheme was inspired by Jeff Burton's No. 8 car from his rookie Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) season in 1994. We can't wait to see Raybestos back on the track!
10.01.2022 Our ST41 compound killin' it at the Adelaide Rally! Best of luck Guy Tyler Rally Driver and IAS Rally Team!
09.01.2022 We'd like to wish Michael McColligan and MC Racing good luck in the final United States Touring Car Championship race of the season at Sonoma Raceway!
09.01.2022 We'd like to congratulate Daniel Montanari and Montanari Motorsports on a great rookie season in the Ontario region of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. Daniel finished 8th in the Sunset Speedway points and won the 2019 Late Model Rookie of the Year using Raybestos Professional Racing brake pads! We look forward to watching Daniel's racing career advance in the years to come.
08.01.2022 DETERMINING THE BEST RACING BRAKE PAD COMPOUNDS FOR YOUR VEHICLE! One of the most common questions we get from club racers is about choosing the right racing pad set up. Most drivers who club race have made their choices over time by trial and error. We try different manufacturer’s pads and compounds. We talk with our fellow racers. We browse forums for the best track day brake pads. Ultimately, the driver’s preference is what matters, and very few are alike. A common mis...take made at the club level is the tendency to choose the most aggressive racing compound. Assuming you need the most aggressive racing brakes may not produce the result you are looking for. This can result in a poorly balanced race car, among other issues. Many times, finding the right setup means dialling in the right balance in the front and rear of the vehicle. How to Choose Your Racing Brake Pad Compounds In a perfect track brake system, you should be able to use the same compound front and rear. This means accounting for factors like bias, line pressure, deflection, caliper stiffness and swept area. Few weekend warriors have a perfectly balanced track day brake package (rulebook and cost factor play into this). Most club racers need to find the right balance between the front and rear. As a general rule, we find the best racing compound for our front calipers based upon our racing requirement (endurance, time attack, etc.). Then, we often take a step down in torque for the rear pads. This helps us avoid locking in the heat of battle and causing wheel hop. This strategy works well and is practised in even the highest professional levels. Raybestos offers a wide range of racing friction compounds to fit all types of racing, applications and driving styles. Track Day Brake Pad Setup Example For example, a heavy endurance set up requires pads with a very low wear rate. A typical set up may include ST45 compounds in the front with ST43 in the rear. Both of these formulas are long-lasting, fade-resistant and complement each other at high heat. They ramp up aggressively while maintaining a driveable balance, with a slight bias split front to rear. See the graph to the right to view the coefficient of friction of all our racing formulations through the temperature cycle. Researching the Best Track Day Pad Formulations Finding the best track day brake pads is a key to winning on every level. We recommend starting by researching all of the compounds available to you. Raybestos gives a thorough breakdown of each of our racing compounds. We help make it easy for you to see what each compound delivers along with its ideal usage. If you have any questions, we have the technical advisors available to help you navigate these decisions. Send us a private message to find out more!
06.01.2022 Our ST41 Racing formulation has a high fade resistance with fast recovery during repeated high-temperature stops. This makes it ideal for asphalt short tracks, ...road courses and other high-friction applications. Choose the best formulation for you and your vehicle by visiting raybestosracing.com.

03.01.2022 RACING AND PERFORMANCE BEDDING PROCEDURES! When installing high-performance brake pads, the bedding procedure is essential. Unlike other brake pads for street use, high-friction performance and racing compounds require a much more thorough process in order to properly condition the pads and rotors. Failure to do so can result in reduced performance and stopping power. If done correctly, the bedding procedure does at least three things to the pads and/or the rotor:... 1. Physically and thermally converts the composition of the pad and/or rotor surfaces 2. Heat cycles the entire pad structure and the rotor 3. Creates a friction transfer layer, mating the pads with the rotor surface Note: These procedures should only be performed on a race track or another safe location. You should be able to safely and legally obtain speeds up to 110km/hr while also being able to rapidly decelerate. Recommended Procedure: Before you begin the bedding procedure, start with a series of light decelerations to gradually build up some heat in the brakes. Use an on-and-off the pedal technique by applying the brakes for three to five seconds, and then fully release them for roughly twice as long as the deceleration cycle. Once you build up enough heat in the brakes, complete the following steps to properly break in the pads: 1. Perform 10 moderate brake applications from 80km/hr to 15km/hr at approximately 0.5km/hr intervals. 2. Make 10 somewhat harder brake applications from 100km/hr to 20km/hr at approximately one-half-mile intervals. 3. Drive one-and-a-half miles. 4. Make eight to ten hard (but less than ABS) applications from 110km/hr to 40km/hr at 1km intervals. Allow an equal time off-brake between each stop. The pads should now be providing a positive and consistent response. 5. Drive at least 3kms after the last application at a moderate cruising speed, with the least amount of brake contact possible, until most of the heat has dissipated from the brakes. 6. Park the vehicle and allow the brakes to cool to ambient air temperature. Avoid sitting stopped with the brake pedal depressed to hold the car in place during this time. WARNING: If any amount of brake fade is observed during the bedding process, immediately begin the cool down cycle. Post-Bedding Inspection All Vehicles After the bedding cycle, the rotors should exhibit a uniformly burnished finish across the entire contact face. Any surface irregularities that appear as smearing or splotching on the rotor faces can be an indication that the brakes were brought up to temperature too quickly during the bedding cycle.
03.01.2022 The 103rd Indianapolis 500 took place this year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Did you know that Raybestos has a deep and storied connection with the Greatest Spectacle in Racing? 50 years ago, racing legend Mario Andretti won his only Indy 500 using Raybestos brake linings. That marked the 13th time that a driver took the checkered flag at Indy using Raybestos products. Today, Raybestos is still committed to delivering the highest-quality and best-performing brake products in the racing and performance market.
