24.01.2022 Beautiful sunset over Raycroft
24.01.2022 A baby Boudicea in the UK and now a full grown Boudicea in Australia. Wonder what her baby is going to look like? Can't wait to see
24.01.2022 Castledales Boudicea is having a little stay at Wingham Valley Vets. Nothing to worry about, she's visiting for Artificial Insemination. This is a new venture for Raycroft Stud. Watch our page for updates.
22.01.2022 Today Raycroft Achilles took his first steps to independence. Weaning day...and vaccination day...and microchip day. An extra dinner helped sooth the pain. Don't worry, he isn't bay...he's just losing his foal coat in an Australian spring. The coat of a Dales Pony fascinates me. So many things can be determined from the coat and it's condition.
22.01.2022 MARE Sire: Westwick Duke Dam: Colliery Heather
21.01.2022 Raycroft Stud is pleased to announce that we have collaborated with Hett Dales to bring the first Dales Pony Àrtificial Insemination across the globe. An exciting and critical addition to our breeding program. Hett Samson, Premium Stallion (United Kingdom)
21.01.2022 Long overdue photo glut...Today we played with the foals on a sunny spring afternoon. Both Mum's happy and healthy and two cheeky babies. I love the beautiful fluffy coats and those curly thick Dales tails. Soon they will moult and display their true colours. Raycroft Astraea and Raycroft Achilles, 3 months old.
19.01.2022 Bluebarn Elsie and Castledales Boudicea enjoying their new field! Each with different priorities
18.01.2022 STALLION Sire: Colliery Storm II Dam: Fulford Magic II
16.01.2022 Starting to settle now. The beautiful Maidendale Legacy looks over his new home. More photos to come when I get 5 minutes to scratch myself!

15.01.2022 The Dales Pony Breed Standard - by permission of the Dales Pony Society. ‘Please note: The pony in the diagram is an historical image of a scotched dock to allow view of the hocks and hindlimbs - a full tail is expected’ https://www.dalespony.org
14.01.2022 Some footage of what's going on here at Raycroft. One needs extreme resilience to match the extremities of Australia. Lucky our Dales are also extreme.
14.01.2022 What a lovely video of early education of Dales Pony, Earnwell Ethan. Thank you Great All Rounders. Fabulous!
12.01.2022 Shared to show the incredible versatility of the Dales Pony. Isn't this pair just amazing? I love the traditional harnesses
12.01.2022 A record from the Dales Pony History page showing that Dales have in fact arrived in Australia before... in 1936! Where did he go? How many ponies did he produce? Something to investigate in my spare time.
12.01.2022 The newest species to make the Rare Breeds Watch list in Australia. I hope our efforts inspire a whole new generation of Dales Pony enthusiasts. You can find out more about Australia's rare breeds by following Rare Breeds Trust of Australia.

11.01.2022 Today a little miracle arrived at Raycroft Stud. Bluebarn Elsie surprised us with a gorgeous all brown filly, sired by Hett Samson. This little girl is the beginning of new things for us after our difficult start in Australia. Restoring our hope for the future, please welcome Raycroft Astraea (translates to star-maiden). Name meaning: Greek Goddess of justice, innocence, purity and precision.
10.01.2022 First photos of the Raycroft mares since they have arrived in sunny Australia. I think they all look absolutely wonderful. They are exploring their new 5-acre paddock, barely lifting their noses to notice the neighbours cattle. Waterside Amber, Bluebarn Elsie and Castledales Boudicea #daleslove
08.01.2022 Beautiful Boudicea having a pamper this evening. Followed by a feeling of her foal! 5 weeks to go! We’re all so excited
06.01.2022 GELDING Sire: Raygill William Dam: Colliery Supreme
05.01.2022 The start of a very long journey for the Raycroft ponies! They will travel the 16,900km trip by air after a 3-week stay in Newmarket quarantine followed by a 3 week stay in Melbourne quarantine before travelling another 1,100 kilometres by road to home. This ain't' for the faint-hearted!
03.01.2022 To brighten your Monday morning here is Roandale Downey Rose playing with her Mum Roandale Ruby. Bay Roan colouring is incredibly rare in the breed, and many roan coloured Dales ponies alive today can be traced back to the Roandale stud that this mare calls home. Sadly no roan Dales here in Australia yet, but it's on my bucket list! Picture by Ruth Chamberlain Photography.
03.01.2022 Dales Ponies make the most wonderful driving partners. Check these two beauties out!
02.01.2022 A sneak-peek at the first babies, fingers crossed they all arrive safely downunder
01.01.2022 MARE Sire: Tarbarl Matthew Dam: Twywell Dizzy Kate
