21.01.2022 The peanut butter war! Australian brand Bega has triumphed over American giant Kraft in the battle of the peanut butter war. The Federal Court has ruled that Bega is now ‘exclusively entitled’ to use the yellow lid and the red and blue peanut butter labels that most of us can identify with when choosing either crunchy or smooth peanut butter. The battle lines were drawn when Kraft accused Bega of engaging in misleading or deceptive conduct over the marketing of its peanut butter. This all stemmed from a series of takeovers that saw Kraft bought by Heinz and its Australian products, including peanut butter, being moved under the Mondelez umbrella which Bega later bought. #peanutbutter #thismeanswar #peanutbutterwar #courtcase
17.01.2022 Anzac Day is a time to thank all Australians who have served, or who are currently serving, as Defence Force members and to thank all of them for serving our Nation and we especially pay tribute to those men who lost their lives fighting for our freedom.

03.01.2022 Just to recap some of the important changes to the law since January 2019 1. The year started off with a crackdown on the way banks now issue credit cards. A number of mandatory law reforms came into effect including a 3 year responsible lending assessment. This means banks must not provide a credit card with a limit that a consumer cannot repay within 3 years. Banks are also now banned from providing unsolicited credit card limit increase offers, backdating interest ch...arges on balance transfers and must now offer consumers the ability to request a credit card limit reduction or credit card cancellation on-line. 2. APRA (Australia’s financial regulator) then lifted its restrictions it had previously placed on interest-only residential lending for banks that had improved their lending standards. This means it now might be easier for borrowers with interest-only loans to refinance to a principal and interest loan. 3. In an effort to improve family law in Australia, the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court were consolidated at the beginning of the year. Previously, those courts ‘job-shared’ cases and had different rules, forms and procedures. Under the consolidation, there is now a common set of rules, forms and case management. 4. The 2nd phase of the combustible cladding laws introduced in Queensland in October 2018 is now underway. This law was introduced to target combustible cladding on certain classes of buildings. All building owners where there is the possibility of combustible cladding now have until 29 May 2019 to engage a building industry professional to inspect their building and to then report to the QBCC whether the cladding is actually non-conforming. 5. As from 21 April 2019, in addition to financial assistance a victim of crime may be able to receive, a victim of crime may also now be able to apply for legal assistance. The Queensland Government has issued a guideline outlining the costs an eligible victim may be entitled to receive which can be found at Guideline 9 Granting financial assistance for legal expenses. http://www.qld.gov.au/vaqlegalexpenses
