25.01.2022 Morning All, For the Hotshots tomorrow morning, we are aiming for a 7.30am Tee off. Tamara who has very kindly offered to step up for the this week and last week to run things has a pretty full day tomorrow and has asked if we can Tee off early. If you cannot make a 7.30 Tee off, David will organise the players who turn up later. All cards will be left with David and presentation will happen before we Tee off next week. 24.01.2022 HI Everyone, Due to the weather experienced over the last few weeks, the Front 9 of the course has been closed meaning the members will be playing the Back 9 and the par 3 course for the members comp tomorrow. The practice fairway is also closed to due water sitting on the ground. Unfortunately, this means that the juniors for tomorrow will be cancelled. 100mm of rain falling early in the week means the water table is very high on the course but should settle down fairly quic...kly with a few dry days. 23.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Well it is that time of year again! Our final week for 2019! This will be our presentation day this Saturday, where all our trophy winners for the year will receive their trophies. But before we can do that, we have our final competition. For those who arent aware, we have our Kick Golf Challenge. It is an Ambrose format where instead of playing with golf clubs, we will tackle the Par 3s with soccer balls. The aim is to have at least 2 juniors per group team...ing up with adults. Kick off is 8am sharp with all of our Peewee and Hotshot participants for the year welcome to attend. This will be followed by our presentation under the shade sails near the bar where we have food and drink supplied. Cost is $20 per family with a maximum of 4 per family. This covers green fees and a small contribution towards the food. We will have some soccer balls for the day but if you have one or two laying around at home please bring them along. We will have pumping facilities on the day. Should be a fun way to end the year with a few laughs. Please advise if you will be able to attend for us to confirm catering. 23.01.2022 Hi All, Some good and bad news for us this week. Good news, we start our hotshot program again this week. A long time coming and will be good to be back on course again. The Bad news is due to some staff shortages in the pro shop, the pee wees won't be able to restart for another week or two as David will be stuck organising the members comp. 23.01.2022 Hi All, Hope this finds you all well. We have been cleared to re start our junior program again from this weekend. Unfortunately I have a few work commitments which I cannot avoid (In these times, you must take it while it is there!). Therefore, our re start date will be the first weekend after the school holidays which I believe is the 18th July. This gives your juniors a chance to dust off the clubs, kick the spiders out of the golf bag and limber up those muscles before w...e kick off again. ( I am guessing there will have been a substantial amount of growth across the group too ) Spread the word if you can and lets get as many of us out there as we can on the first week back. 23.01.2022 Hi All, We will be running a junior raffle this year to help support our Junior Program. Tickets will be available in the proshop and be handed out on Saturday. If you can get behind it and sell a few tickets, that would be fantastic! A big shout out to Rowes Bay Golf Club for first prize, Ingham Road Seafood and Gary Toplis for 2nd prize and the manager of IGA Garbutt who personally donated third prize. 23.01.2022 Hi Everyone, How are you all enjoying this roller coaster called life!!! So, the course is now open again with limitations being applied. The consensus of the club and the committee and myself is that it is best for everyone involved for us to postpone our junior golf program at this point in time until advised that it is safe to resume. Whilst our exposure to this virus is limited at this point in time, we are urging on the side of caution and following government advice in ...order to try and keep our risk low. The course is open for social play, and our juniors who are members of the junior program can play for members prices on Saturdays so don't be afraid to get out there with your juniors and keep practicing. I will check today with the status of our raffle. Please continue to sell your tickets where you can and we will update as we know more. 23.01.2022 Morning Everyone, This week will be our Closed Championship. It will be held over 9 holes and played in two divisions. Div 1 will be handicaps 20 and lower and Div 2 handicaps 21 and above. Any player with a handicap above 25 Tees off the white markers and 25 and below will Tee off the black markers. All trophies will be handed out at the end of year presentation. As it is closed to only Rowes Bay members, please ensure that your Junior has paid their $40 junior membership t...o be eligible for trophies. 23.01.2022 A strong representation of Rowes Bay Juniors contested the 2020 CITY OF TOWNSVILLE JUNIOR CLASSIC, a 3 day event played during the week at Rowes Bay, Tropics an...d lastly at Townsville Golf Club on Wednesday. And, so pleasing to see that many of The Bay’s juniors did extremely well in winning many of the Major Prizes with: Jack Thom 54 hole - 9 hole - Boys Gross winner with R/up Byron Morris. Koby Willis 54 hole - 18 hole - Boys Nett winner with Elio Di Bella R/up. Jacinta Downward 54 hole - Girls Gross R/up (Tahnee Marshall Girls Champion) Sam Harrison 54 hole - Boys Champion (Mackay’s Kylie Dowde R/up) Congratulations to all our juniors and winners during the week of competitions and special congratulations to Sam Harrison taking out the 2020 City of Townsville Junior Classic with wins at the Rowes Bay and Townsville Junior Opens (R/up at Tropics). 20.01.2022 Morning All, Another week nearly over! This week will be our Grant Ward Memorial Shield Event. It is a Stableford Game and one of our Major Trophies for the year.... We will have a warm up on the range at 7.30 and look to tee off at 8am.Hopefully we can have Georgie and Owen play the last Matchplay to decide who will join Max in the Final. See you all tomorrow! 20.01.2022 An update on the results of our Rowes Bay juniors after the third round today of the QLD School Championships being played at Cairns Golf Club. I have attached ...the 13-19 Age Boys Gross Leader Board, sorry it's a little fuzzy! Sam Harrison shot 2 under today and is in second place, three shots behind the leader James Goffman (SC). A great score today for Finn Couper shooting 78, well done Finn. Addison Neaves came in with a 93, and sorry no result for Jacinta. Attached is photos of Finn, Jacinta & Sam, and check out the one of Sam in the trees, he actually punched it out well and almost made par on that hole........good luck tomorrow Sam, Finn, Addison & Jacinta.!

19.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Just a quick reminder that our Junior sign on will be on tomorrow. We are hoping for clear weather, but do have some contingencies in place in the case that the weather is bad. We are hoping to see a lot of old faces as well as a few new ones for our up coming season. I think it is also a good time to reveal that we have new shirts for this year!! They will be available from tomorrow with a limited number in various sizes. We will also place another order if num...bers allow (Caddies are also welcome to order one if they would like to be fashionable). As we have been away for a while, we will have a stableford event to ease back into it. We are also offering to take some balls down to the practice range from 7.30am to get a few swings in before we play. We will be starting at 8am sharp for a few holes of Kick Golf before we head back to the clubhouse for a bbq brunch and our trophy presentations. A few of the Rowes Bay juniors traveled down to Proserpine last Sunday 25 October to play in the GNQ Junior Open which was a...lso a Greg Norman Junior Masters Qualifier. Congratulations to Finn Couper runner up in the Gross event with Addison Neaves taking out the best Nett which was great to see them shooting some pretty good scores on the day. Other players that made the trip were Elio Di Bella who shot his lowest 18 hole round just missing out on a count back for the Nett runner-up and Byron Morris who wasn’t far off the pace in the 9 hole event. Pleasing to see that from the event Finn and Elio also qualified for the Greg Norman Junior Master’s in December for their respective age divisions joining Sam Harrison and Addison Neaves who had qualified in earlier events. Good luck in December boys.........

09.01.2022 Hi All, Our Hotshots will be playing Foursomes this weekend. Kids will be playing in pairs and playing alternate shot. Let me know on Sat morning if the kids have paired up with someone else. All other pairs we can arrange on the day. 7.30 warm up on the range and 8am start. 06.01.2022 This week four of Rowes Bay's top juniors Sam Harrison, Finn Couper, Addison Neaves and Jacinta Downward are included in a team representing North Queensland at... the 2020 QLD Secondary Schools Boys & Girls Golf Championships being hosted by Cairns Golf Club. The tournament is 72 holes for ages 13-19 and 54 for 10-12 years, and is a combined individual and team event where each school region/district enters teams. The first day scores saw Sam with 71, Finn 87, Addison 89 and Jacinta 99. Today Sam finished with a double bogie after going in the water on the last, putting him at +2 for today. Finn 84, not too sure on Addison's score and Jacinta 89. We wish the NQ Team all the best for the next two days, and especially Sam, Finn, Addison and Jacinta...........we are so impressed!

03.01.2022 Hi All, What a crazy week! The best way to wind down is a leisurely walk around a golf course on a Saturday morning! Juniors will be on tomorrow morning, starting approx 7.45am for the hotshots to have our clinic with David. 8am Comp start. 8.30am start for the peewees. ... As we are all fairly well aware by now, there are some advices we need to adhere to in order to be able to continue to play. Regular hand washing is paramount and there are plenty of areas where soap and sanitizer are provided. Social Distancing of 1.5m is strongly advised also. At the end of the game, a simple Thumbs up and a good game instead of a handshake would be great. Most importantly if you or your junior is unwell, please rest up at home and we will be glad to welcome you back next week (there are a few other nasty bugs floating around at the moment ).Will be a few others that we will touch on in the morning. We all know it can be painful to adhere to but sadly these steps are essential in the current climate. Dont forget to grab one of our funky shirts which are still available and we are handing out our Easter raffle tickets for sale as well. See you all tomorrow! Jamie.

As it is expected to be a warm one tomorrow, we will try to tee off as close to 8am as possible. 02.01.2022 This weekend five of ROWES BAY GOLF CLUB'S top junior golfers are heading to the Gold Coast to participate at the 2019 GREG NORMAN JUNIOR MASTERS being played a...t Palmer Colonial and Palmer Gold Coast Golf Clubs, a 72 hole event commencing on Monday. Qualifying for the event during the year, Kasey Sorohan, Sam Harrison, Finn Couper, Addison Neaves and Elio Di Bella I'm sure will do themselves, Rowes Bay and North Queensland proud at such a prestigious event. This is the 22nd year of the GNJM and it has opened the door for many junior golfers, to name a few previous winners, Karrie Webb, Adam Scott, Cameron Smith and Minjee Lee. We wish our juniors every success, this event is a wonderful opportunity to form new friendships, develop their golfing and etiquette skills plus have a great time competing against others of similar ages..........enjoy the experience!
