19.01.2022 A few weeks ago RBMS Committee members Jess, Apanie and Emily (on behalf of the RBMS) attended the Melbourne Water Kids Teaching Kids (KTK) Gala Dinner, to celebrate the wonderful achievements of the 2020 KTK Virtual Conference. The RBMS had the opportunity to sponsor Clifton Creek Primary School (CRPP) to attend the Virtual Conference held last last year. Thank you to Rhiannon (NSW Chapter Lead) for mentoring CCPR through the process.... Over 60 schools from around Australia came together to focus on climate solutions to build a better tomorrow, with attention on rehabilitating environmentally damaged areas. Clifton Creek Primary School produced a video about their loss during the recent bush fires and their resilience as they move forward after these devastating events. The Global Wetland Outlook released by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in 2018 highlighted an alarming trend in wetland loss; at least 35% of the world’s natural wetlands have been lost since 1970. Australia currently has 66 Ramsar wetlands that cover more than 8.3 million hectares. 10.01.2022 Rex Candy has worked as a river engineer and river manager across Victoria, with the last couple of decades in East Gippsland with the East Gippsland Catchment Management Authority (EGCMA). The RBMS community acknowledge the tremendous contribution that Rex has made to the rivers of Victoria, and wish him well in his retirement.
