25.01.2022 DON’T FORGET!!! Rego’s close for our Summer Lightning Season on 18 Jan!! https://www.playhq.com//riddells-creek-j/8a017437/register

25.01.2022 Posting in case any of our amazing RCJMBA or Raptors coaches are interested in registering themselves in a Melb United online coaching seminar https://club.melbourneutd.com.au/5GYE-2HIK-4FA4106A/cr.aspx

25.01.2022 W E M I S S Y O U We really miss seeing you all each week - We’d love you to upload your pics and vids to the page or tag #rcjmba - it can be trick shots, drills or drawings, can’t wait to see what you’ve all been upto

24.01.2022 Happy birthday Jude Ellis When she’s not busy being a GP or with her Defence Force commitments, Jude is the Welfare Officer for the RCJMBA. It’s a BIG role - ensuring that we are meeting (exceeding!!!) various child protection policies, our volunteers are all currently holding Working With Children Checks & telling AMAZEBALLS stories at our Committee meetings #talkswithherhands ... Thanks for all that you do for us, Jude! We hope you have a really special 50th birthday! Love from your RCJMBA fam xx. Hope it’s ok that I stole your pic, Dave

23.01.2022 OH MY GOSH we are SO close!! The RCJMBA Committee met via zoom last night, and we have a return to sport plan #YAAAAAAAAY! There are still a few restrictions to work around, but here 'tis in a nutshell.... Beginning the week of Mon 23 Nov, we will run 1 training session for each age group for 3 weeks. This takes us up until the week before school finishes for 2020, which has been a heavily requested finish date in previous years. To be totally transparent, currently we still have to work to a maximum capacity of 20 players inside the stadium at one time. We acknowledge that this is an issue, as we will quite possibly get more than 20 kids from each age group wanting to get back on court. Once a session fills up we will start a waiting list. We will have the capacity to put on more sessions if the court is available & the numbers call for it. There is another issue with where we sit at the moment - parents are NOT allowed to enter the stadium. To this end, we need to be really clear with our need for parents to pick their kids up outside exactly at the end of their session time. We will be looking to establish a contactless rego & payment system once the dates/times are set with council. The payments per session will be minimal & we are just looking to cover court hire. Kids will need to be BV registered for insurance purposes. We will be after volunteers to run our training sessions. Please call Kristie on 0418 322 809 or email [email protected] if you can take a session for your child's age group. Without parent help, we won't be able to facilitate these sessions. So....TBC will be: *Dates & times for each age group *Cost *Rego & payment method WE ARE NOT TAKING REGISTRATIONS FOR TRAINING SESSIONS RIGHT NOW. But it will be on a first in, best dressed basis - so keep an eye on FB & your email inbox! Come Feb, we will be running a "Lightning season". Our vision is a short season, possibly with the top 2 teams playing off at our Summer Grand Final day in March. It will be SO GREAT to see our RCJMBA kids back on court! Stay tuned......

23.01.2022 Hey RCJMBA family, We have decided to unfortunately cancel next week’s training sessions on Monday & Thursday The participation numbers have been quite low & it’s getting really hard to find volunteers to man the sessions #christmaspartyseason ... Thank you to the kids who have made it along over the past 2 weeks - we hope you had a great time & it made us so happy to see running around out on court! We especially loved seeing some brand new faces & we hope that you’ll join our competition when it restarts!! Thank you to the Committee & to all the people who were able to give some time to our sessions We are super excited to be kicking off our LIGHTNING SUMMER SEASON in Feb - make sure you keep an eye on this page as we’ll release the rego links soon!

21.01.2022 ***REPOSTING*** As we get closer to our rego link closing on 18 Jan, we are unfortunately no closer to gaining U8s & U10s Age Group Coordinators. It would be devastating to us all to not see these age groups go ahead. ... PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING OUT!!!! Call Kristie for more info - 0418 322 809.

21.01.2022 Oh wow - we are good to go!!! It's been a long time coming, but the RCJMBA will once again hit the court from this coming Monday for 3 weeks of training! How it will work under the CURRENT restrictions....... 1. There are separate trybooking links in the comments below for 1 x 45 min training timeslot for each age group. 2. We can currently take a maximum of 20 kids in each timeslot. Once a timeslot has reached it's capacity, it will no longer take any more bookings. If this happens, please text me your name, child's name & their age group & we will keep a waiting list. 3. We will only take bookings for week 1 at this stage. 4. IF YOU ARE BOOKED INTO A SESSION & CANNOT MAKE IT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW VIA TEXT IMMEDIATELY!!! 5. Cost per session is $5 per child, payable via the trybooking link when you register. 6. You do NOT need to be BV registered to attend these training sessions (ie the annual insurance you usually pay) 7. Due to the limited numbers, we can only take kids into their age appropriate timeslot. 8. Parents/guardians are currently not allowed to enter the stadium. Please sign your child in at the front of the stadium AT THEIR START TIME. Due to Covid cleaning regulations, we cannot have kids entering the stadium early, and we cannot be responsible for them whilst they are outside. Please be there ON TIME to collect your child AT THE END OF THEIR TRAINING TIME. **All of this will be reassessed after week one, so if you have any constructive feedback please give me a call. **We will need the help of coaches - please call me if you can help out (we will need to see a current WWCC & have you sign an MPD stat dec) At the end of all those rules & regulations........YAY!! Can't wait to see our kids back on court!! Kristie 0418 322 809

21.01.2022 W E ‘ R E B A C K It was so great to see our U10 & U19 age groups hit the court after a LOOOONNNNGGGG 11 month hiatus! Thanks to the new Lightning Season coaches! ... Thanks for coming along, parents! Thanks to the scorebench helpers - can’t do any of it without our volunteers! Thanks to Jordi Poyser & Ben Hagan for reffing - it was so great to see our striped team back doing what they do best - so encouraging to our kids! Biggest thanks to the kids for bringing it to each & every game - there were sideline nerves for a lot of them, but they all just get out there & smash it out of the park (stadium )!! The rest of our age groups kick off their seasons next week.

19.01.2022 In these cray cray times of change & not really knowing which way is up we thought it’d be cool to share this feel good basketball snippet of an Aussie bloke done good! Onya, Official: Patty Mills - what a rippa! ... We wonder how many of our junior ballers will go on to have success like Patty’s.... #dreambigworkhard

19.01.2022 Awesome opportunity available for those itching to get back on the court. Please note: Based on current Covid situation venue may be changed to Woodend if restrictions apply

18.01.2022 It’s not in Riddell.....but it is basketball training! Open to all Macedon Ranges residents

17.01.2022 MRBA are after expressions of interest from coaches.... See deets below; Subject: 2021 MRBA Country Championships - Coaches Expression of Interest (due 27th November)... ATTENTION ALL COACHES The BVC Country Championships schedule has recently been confirmed for 2021, and once again, MRBA will be looking to enter boys and girls teams in all age groups. Timing for the various tournament are as follows: Under 16 & Under 18 - Division 1 & 2 -- 20 & 21 February 2021 -- BENDIGO Under 16 & Under 18 - Division 3 & 4 -- 20 & 21 March 2021 -- BALLARAT Under 12 -- 9, 10 & 11 April 2021 -- BENDIGO Under 14 -- 16, 17 & 18 April 2021 TRARALGON With tournaments beginning in February, and with Covid restrictions finally easing, we need to urgently begin the process to select and prepare teams. At this stage, subject to coach availability, we are hoping to run squad try-outs for U16 and U18 teams the week of 7th December, with U12 and U14 tryouts at the end of January. 16.01.2022 Getting just a little bit closer...... We haven’t heard from the MRSC or Basketball Vic just yet, I think everyone is still getting their heads around what this new ‘step 3’ actually looks like. Mary-Anne Thomas ‘s helpful visual below states specifically ‘outdoor’ sports for kids is back on - being that basketball is indoors, this does not include us at the moment. ... I’ll keep you all posted when I hear any other news. Kristie

15.01.2022 In on-court basketball news, the Committee have regretfully had to make the decision to not proceed with a Winter 2020 season The necessary yet varied restrictions & requirements around COVID from BV & MRSC, as well as compliance with our own By-Laws, have forced our hand. We cannot facilitate a competition with the numbers we have, within the constraints of the court availability, with the extra time requirements around fully vacating the court, then cleaning equipment/...score bench/seating/ref equipment, before allowing the next game’s participants in. The Committee will still be holding monthly Zoom meetings & as soon as restrictions change, we will discuss whichever options have then become available to us. Cross your fingers & watch this space! If anyone has any questions, please call Kristie on 0418 322 809.

13.01.2022 WEEK 2 OF BASKETBALL TRAINING! Monday 30 Nov - 4:30pm U8s (formerly JD) & 5:30pm U10s Thursday 3 Dec - 4:30pm - U12s, 5:30pm - U14s & 6:30pm - U16s/19s combined.... ALL TRYBOOKING LINKS IN COMMENTS BELOW **$5 per child per session. Due to contact tracing requirements you can only book 1 ticket at a time - sorry, it's painful for those wanting multiple tickets :( (You can book multiple tickets for a session, but one by one with separate names). **Enter your child's name in the booking, not your own (or bring your runners!! lol) **Parents are allowed in the stadium now! #hooray! Only 1 parent per child. Please scan the QR code if you are staying inside. Please only sit in designated space as directed by RCJMBA-ers on site on the night. NOW THAT YOU'RE ALLOWED BACK IN....WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!! I do love this place, but almost 5 hours on court & alot more than that behind the scenes was ALOT for this little black duck! Our committee have put in alot of legwork to get this up & running - we'd love our parent group to step up now! *We need a BioSafety Officer for each session (checking that people are signed in, sanitised, and directing sanitation of equipment). *We need Coaches on court for each session. *U8s & U10s - we need a Coordinator for the sessions. Coordinators will sign the kids in, and then ensure a parent meets them after training while the rest of us are cleaning. Then they can leave. Please give me a call if you can help out over the next 2 weeks, or if you have any questions. Kristie - 0418 322 809 :) PLEASE TAG YOUR FRIENDS! Apparently alot of people didn't see this last week so please help us get the word out there!

12.01.2022 Hey RCJMBA fam! We have just received an email update from Basketball Victoria, I have posted the relevant info below. Essentially, we are not able to return to competition as yet, however training is potentially on the cards in the not-too-distant future. The 'when' will be determined by the path the Macedon Ranges Shire Council decide to take in releasing restrictions around the hiring of their indoor facilities. It's early days yet & I'm sure they are busy trying to work... out their own processes, but I will be keeping a close eye on my email inbox! We're not there yet - but we're oh so much slightly closer!! ________________________________________________________________ Return to Basketball and Current Restrictions. The announcement on Sunday 18 October by the Victorian Government has eased restrictions in several areas across Victoria. Unfortunately, due to basketball being classified as a contact sport (i.e. a sport that is unable to be played at a social distancing length of 1.5m between each participant) by the Victorian Government, basketball is subject to being part of the Last Step of the COVID Roadmap. We will continue to advocate to Government and other stakeholders on behalf of the basketball community to ensure the quickest possible return of Victorian basketball across the state. Please refer to the Victorian DHHS website as well as Basketball Victoria’s Return to Sport Guidelines for further information.

09.01.2022 C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S L E G E N D Debra Mitrevics RCJMBA Would like to thank you for all of your contributions across many different committee positions over the years. ... 09.01.2022 Hi RCJMBA family, Just a quick update on where we’re at/where we’re heading.... I was part of a user group zoom call with the Macedon Ranges Shire Council this week. They are lead by DHHS guidelines regarding maximum numbers allowed inside their facilities, and these numbers are unfortunately quite tight. ... The RCJMBA Committee are having a zoom Committee meeting ASAP (Melb Cup day’s timing is pushing us slightly back) to discuss our options. Our Rep Sub-Committee are also ‘zooming’ to discuss Rep tryouts & training options. Basketball Victoria’s Return To Sport guidelines will be a super helpful asset in us determining ‘where to next?’ In covid terms basketball is considered a contact sport, as it cannot be played whilst still maintaining the 1.5m social distancing requirements. To this end we do know that we cannot recommence competition just yet. Our aim is to get our kids back on court for training in some form....whilst adhering to the various requirements from a few different directions. Wish us luck & watch this space!! If anyone has any questions or fabulous suggestions, please feel free to call me. Kristie 0418 322 809.

07.01.2022 McDonalds Gisborne has been a long time financial supporter of the RCJMBA - and they’re currently recruiting! 07.01.2022 BENDIGO BANK COMMUNITY BUILDER AWARD This award is relatively new within our association. Each year, our Trophies Officer asks the committee for nominations, then sends out 3 names from those nominations for everyone to vote on. This award celebrates an RCJMBA committee member who’s contribution has greatly improved our product, be that on or off the court. ... This year the overall votes were tied between 2 of our amazing committee members. These 2 collectively, have held various positions within our committee for around 20 years. They are quick to raise their hand when something needs doing - either in a weekly courtside job, or to take on a new role within the committee. Their basketball knowledge and experience is second to none. The way they communicate with kids within our programs is impeccable, their calm and balanced presence at our committee table is invaluable. Congratulations to both Jo Poyser and Vicki Turner Turner for winning this amazing award.

07.01.2022 **DON'T FORGET TRAINING SESSIONS FOR U12s, U14s & U16/19s TOMORROW NIGHT** Booking links are in the comments section of the original post! (which was on Fri 27 Nov) TBH, numbers aren't looking great :( We'd love to see some more kids out on court!

07.01.2022 Granted.....it wasn’t on ‘our’ court....but it was so great to see so many of our Riddell kids competing out on court last night! We were well represented with 17 RCJMBA players taking the court, as well as 4 of our All-Star refs calling the shots in the CVBA 3x3 comp in Woodend. Special mention must go to Jakey Poyser for hitting the game winning shot in overtime in the final game of the night! No one is surprised, right?!! Jakey also took out the MVP of the night award. ... Well done, all!

06.01.2022 We don’t make a habit of sharing non-basketball specific stuff on our page.....but if there’s ever a time to branch out, it’s probs whilst in a global pandemic, right?!! Our kids have been sport starved for so long now, but do you know one who has keep it going in some amazing way? Do you know one who might be deserving of this MR Youth NICELY PLAYED award? There are a bunch of other awards to be given out, too. ... If this peaks your interest, jump over to their page & nominate your young person for their awesomeness! Nominations close 22 Nov

04.01.2022 We are so grateful for the continued & generous support from the Gisborne & District Community Bank Branch! The RCJMBA are really proud of the fact that we don't ask for financial outlay from our families for player team singlets - getting our kids back on court post-covid, this is particularly relevant. Without support from sponsors like Bendigo Bank, supplying our kids with a player singlet for the season would not be something that we can offer. ... Thanks Corinne & the Bendigo Bank team for a grant for $1340 to purchase some new player singlets!! Do you know what a COMMUNITY BANK actually does?? Info below is taken directly from the Gisborne branch website - click on the link below to find out more! "You may not think who you bank with matters. But it does. For our customers, their banking is making a real difference. Every day our customers help change lives, and save lives, simply by banking with us. Their home loans are building skate and sports parks, hospital wings and classrooms. Personal loans, business banking and credit cards are funding ambulances, rescue boats, disabled and aged care facilities. Everyday banking is providing all this and more. In fact, $250 million has been returned to communities and initiatives Australia-wide. You need a bank to give you the products and services you need. We need your banking to help us make a difference." https://www.bendigobank.com.au/community/community-bank/

03.01.2022 SHOUT OUT TO A CONTINUED SPONSOR! Huge thanks to JAMIE DYER PLUMBING for continuing their financial sponsorship of the RCJMBA!
