12.05.2022 For anyone who has received a Rider registration form for 2022, and not returned it yet, or been in contact via email, please let me know if you are intending to ride with RDA Bendigo this year.

29.04.2022 Today we held a training day for volunteers, and welcomed 2 new volunteers to our program - Deb and Natasha - we covered a vast range of subjects, and hopefully you all got something out of the training....thanks Chris for being our rider for the day, though we did use our Mr Manny Quinn for emergency dismount - (you might remember him from our Christmas themed last ride day.) There is a training day at Seymour 3rd February, if any of our registered volunteers would like ...to attend please contact either Jan or Nigel - Sue, Elsa, Gill, Jan, are attending, with another 2 pending. If you are keen to volunteer, just email [email protected] and forms will be sent to you. If you have received your registration forms for Riders, it would be great if you could get them back to RDA Bendigo soon, so we can make up our sessions - or if you would like to join our program, please email [email protected] for further information. Our dates for this year are as follows: RDA Bendigo Ride Dates 2022 TERM ONE Feb: 16th School Terms March: 2nd 16th 31 Jan - 8 April 30th April: 6th TERM TWO April: 27th 26 April - 24 June May : 11th 25th June: 8th 22nd TERM THREE July : 13th 11 July - 16 Sept 27th Aug : 10th 24th Sept: 7th TERM FOUR Oct: 5th 3 Oct - 20 Dec 19th Nov: 2nd 16th 30th Dec: 14th.

19.04.2022 8th December saw our last ride day for the year - due to lockdowns and rain, we have had a lot of cancellations - but we managed to get in a few extra days when the weather permitted. We had our usual theme of Christmas with a couple of trees to decorate and a small one to hang the Riders christmas decorations on. (thanks John, Carol and Elsa). We truly hope that next year we can run a bit more smoothly, with no lockdowns, and good weather - just like the three bears, not t...oo hot, and not too cold , but just right ! Some happy snaps of our last ride. (Santa is Mr. Manny Quin) The little christmas ornaments were presented to each Riders along with their lolly bag. See more

28.03.2022 Just a quick reminder to everyone that RDA will NOT be on tomorrow, due to new Covid vaccination rules that need to be addressed before we can return, hopefully by 13th October ! Emails will follow as per normal, if next week is to go ahead.

24.03.2022 Hi, Everyone...a little late in posting, but here are the final pics of our Olympic themed Term 3 program....we are grateful that Regional were allowed out of lockdown, so we could finish the Term on a high note. We had our Show Jumping, and a few games for the footie finals thrown in ! Everyone was presented with their Mini Olympics medal (Amelia, I have yours) - well deserved - well done everyone.

07.03.2022 Another successful fun day on 18th August - our 2nd Olympics themed day, with basketball, slalom, shotput and dressage. We decided it was too windy for discus - so reinvented it to see how far into the circle the riders could toss a bean bag. It was a great day, and we are just a bit sad that we can not complete our themed term this week with Show Jumping. BUT, we will be doing this once we are all back on track - something to look forward to. Thank you to all our volunteers, and especially Chris, Sue and David for looking after the games for us. (apologies to our first class - I was unable to take photos but will get some of you all show jumping when we return )

02.03.2022 and one final video of Amelia on her first ride - she was very pleased to carry the torch for her session.

22.02.2022 After being in lockdown, having school holidays, and cancelling due to wet weather, it was so good to get back to Riding yesterday - though a bit hectic given we only came out of lockdown on Monday night - making sure we had enough volunteers for all our sessions....but with our great Team here, we were able to offer our Theme for this Term - Mini Olympics - we had a short opening ceremony for each session - One rider carried the torch, with the others making up the rings of ...the Olympics - followed by a Cross Country course. Next week, we look to do dressage, and some horse back Olympic games - followed on the 25th with Show Jumping. We hope you are not still in Lockdown Edwina and Lyndsay, and can visit for our accreditation, and the surprise for the Riders (we can't say yet, its a surprise !) We hope you enjoy the photos of Riders, they certainly were very pleased to return, and a big THANK YOU to all our volunteers. See more

17.02.2022 Term 2 started with 7 riders for our 2 morning sessions last week, including 2 new riders. We have vacancies for a couple more riders in our morning session, as we can add another session for extra riders. This week we have 3 afternoon sessions with 6 riders - using Mac and Doug We were also lucky enough to receive donations of rugs from Peter Lane and a rug and other useful equipment from Karen Chilcott. These were very much appreciated with winter approaching. thank you.

04.02.2022 If you have a rider under 18, this might be of some assistance - particularly with riding boots, and fees -

25.01.2022 Just a timely reminder to all our potential participants this year that we have an open day on Saturday 19th January from 10am - 12 noon for you to register your rider or carriage driver. It would be appreciated if you could bring them along so we can measure for hat size and boots before we start back on Wednesday 13th February. This will save time on our first day back. Please bring your payment with your completed forms, and you will be issued with a receipt. Payment can be full amount in cash, cheque ($239) or credit card payment for insurance only of $149, the rest ($90) in cash, cheque or direct debit.. If you need another form, or have not received one yet, please email [email protected]

25.01.2022 A great opportunity for all our volunteers, parents and carers to join this meeting and see what is required to return to riding at our centre.

24.01.2022 This would highly benefit our group....give you an idea of what to expect.

24.01.2022 This would highly benefit our group....give you an idea of what to expect.

22.01.2022 Had a phone call from a lady called Lauren, asking about RDA for her daughter - unfortunately, our home (landline) phone does not display phone numbers, so we can not return the call. If you are Lauren, please call again for more info

22.01.2022 The Team at Bendigo RDA are starting a collection of washed plastic bottle caps, from milk, orange juice, iced coffee, cordial, etc.....we hope to encourage you all to save them from going to waste, so we in turn can send them to Envision, to make prosthetic hands , arms and mobility aids. check out https://envision.org.au We do not have a collection point at this stage, as we only meet on Wednesdays, but if you know of anyone who attends our sessions, either as a client or volunteer, you can always pass them onto these people, to bring along, or drop them off any Wednesday morning (if its not raining) during School Term, at Mandurang South Rec. Reserve. You can help change a persons life.

22.01.2022 Still Vacancies for Riders in our classes - please email for details - [email protected] - our programs run every 2nd Wednesday, starting 13th February. If you have been sent a form, and not yet returned it, please remember, that you can not ride until you are registered.

20.01.2022 Had a great day with some of our volunteers today - transformed our Jenny Craig paddock into a make shift dressage arena.....then warmed up the horses with some in hand training. Tried our hand at some inhand dressage (well, actually the Walk B, on foot !) then adlibbed an inhand pairs dressage - with all 6 horses and volunteers on the go at once...it worked well, and we were all a little tired at the end, esp the horses. Hosed the horses down, looked lovely til we pu...t them back in the paddock, they all had a good roll, and were very pleased with the muddy result. Our 2 standies enjoyed being part of the team today. We will be holding further sessions after christmas, so volunteers, keep an eye on your email for days and times. Thanks to Chris H, Chris H (yes we have 2), Sue, Sandra, Jen, Katy, Gill, and Nigel for packing it all away again.

20.01.2022 Due to lack of volunteers for tomorrow's Ride Session, we have decided to cancel the program - we did not make this decision lightly, as we know how important our sessions are for our Riders, but in the interest of everyone's safety, (and this includes our volunteers, riders and horses) the coaches made the hard decision to pull the pin, so to speak - it is also raining at the moment, and may continue to do so tomorrow - hope to see you all next ride day on the 22nd. If you have an interest in offering your time to assist our ride or carriage program, please feel free to message us.

19.01.2022 Thanks for the weekly activities too Evie’s loved just talking about the horse parts or looking at the pictures and colouring them in even when they weren’t quite the activity, she’s had fun with it anyway. This week’s activity was a lot of fun for both and we love Lego Masters too. Evie made a dressage arena - we also have a grandstand for the crowd and a little restaurant beside it, a judges stand and she put a trophy on there for the winner. We also have some lovel...y wildlife viewing from the rooftop. She has 4 riders, as she said that’s what happens at Riding meaning RDA - so we have three waiting outside and one in the ring for the photos but she was so cute she’s played with it for hours and again this morning. She also had all four riders and an elephant in there and was so excited they were all the winners. Thanks, Georgie Hinton See more

19.01.2022 At long last, we return to ride tomorrow. Only small numbers yet, but we do have vacancies for younger riders. If you know of any child who would be interested in attending our classes on a regular basis (Wednesday mornings each fortnight) please share this post or email [email protected]

16.01.2022 We would like to thank Ian and Esther Padgham for bringing out their beaut horse, Jack, to our program. He has already won the hearts of us all. Take a look at Horse & Country Bendigo ( www.horseandcountry.com.au ) and see what he looks like, - he's the chestnut - and if anyone is looking for an Australian made float, fully serviced and ready for your treasured friend, look no further than Horse & Country Bendigo..also on facebook.

16.01.2022 If you have a rider under 18, this might be of some assistance - particularly with riding boots, and fees -

14.01.2022 Congratulations, Anne

14.01.2022 Hope everyone is keeping active since RDA has been in recession, and that you are all enjoying the Activity Sheets being sent each week. In week 4, one of your tasks was to draw in instructions around the Arena for a basic dressage test...week 5 - I challenged everyone to make their own Arena out of Lego, and take a pic of your achievements. I have had one young lady send in me her delightful pics of a brilliant arena she has made - and I will post them next, with Mum's letter. I hope that this will encourange some others to also send me their pics to include on our page. Anyone from any centre can send me their pics, and I will display them here, if you agree.

11.01.2022 WoW!!!!!!!!!!!! Just WOW!!

11.01.2022 Just a quick reminder to everyone that there is NO RDA until further notice - hope you are all okay, and keep a look out in your emails, (riders) for something a little extra arriving in the next week.

11.01.2022 Hope all the horses have had a very happy birthday! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2386811588051590&id=360631307336305&anchor_composer=false

11.01.2022 3 days til training day - 6th February - looks like rain, but will do our training indoors if necessary. 10 days til first ride day back - limited places available for afternoon classes. Maybe a couple in the morning 17 days til carriage driving returns - If anyone would like to register for our programs, please email [email protected] - if you have your forms, and are intending to return, please send them in as soon as possible - no registration, no ride.

11.01.2022 Tree decorating and games, along with presentation of Participation certificates to all Riders and Drivers ended another successful year at RDA Bendigo

10.01.2022 At the moment, we are still waiting for the all clear to return to riding. While we understand everyone is champing at the bit to get back in the saddle, we have to take things carefully, for the safety of all. Only riders who are able to mount without assistance and need no physical support from sidewalkers (unless its a parent) are able to return to RDA when we get the go ahead. In the meantime, the horses are all enjoying some down time, esp in this cold weather. Can anyone Caption what Oscar might be trying to tell us ?

10.01.2022 Heres a promotional video we made at RDA some years ago but I just wanted to show any potential volunteers why we do what we do. (and also to remind our great Teams all over Australia) Lets hope it works

09.01.2022 Would be great if all our Team, Riders and Parents/carers could tune in for this webinar.
