22.01.2022 The Australian 5G Innovation Initiative will assist businesses to test and develop 5G applications, services and products. It is an open and competitive grants program to fund trials demonstrating different future 5G use cases to help build Australia’s 5G ecosystem. A discussion paper for the Initiative has been released, with feedback to inform the development of the grant guidelines for the Initiative. Throughout this consultation, the Department of Infrastructure, Transpor...t, Regional Development and Communications is interested in hearing from the widest possible range of stakeholders on this discussion paper. Interested companies and organisations are encouraged to respond to the discussion paper, as well as apply to the Initiative when applications open in February 2021. 11.01.2022 Congratulations to Gilmour Space Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global aerospace giant Northrop Grumman to develop Australia's space capabilities. The deal is a major coup for the Gold Coast-based rocket builder and will see it work alongside one of the top 200 companies in the US.

04.01.2022 With the appointment of the new CEO for Destination Gold Coast and our borders being open to the whole of NSW and Victoria from December 1st, our tourism industry - and businesses associated with it - will have a chance to flourish post COVID-19. Gold Coast Airport will also see a dramatic increase in arrivals with Airport CEO Chris Mills advising "it will just get bigger and bigger and move very quickly and potentially in the last week of December 23 could have 200 flights coming on the Sydney route alone."
