25.01.2022 I will be putting in a new Inside Out order by Tuesday! Just fill out the attached form to place your order and I will send you an invoice later in the week. Gut health is so important and can influence even temperamental issues you are seeing in your dog. This has been my favourite probiotic for the dogs for a few months now as it suits everyone in the house :)
25.01.2022 Do you have a dog that pops out of the weaves? Bright thinks 12 poles are dumb and has been very prone to pop at 10! If I took her back to repeat the poles she would bark a lot and then would most often repeat popping because arousal had been increased due to frustration. I did find that putting her in the end poles was the only thing that helped her slightly but still we had too much failure. Late last year I came up with this protocol to make sure we had much less frustra...tion and failure in our weave pole training. I didn’t get to put it into practice much because she has had GI issues that were triggered from going under for desexing Now she’s finally doing much better so we have started back on this. The perch on the rubber bowl means she has to decel out of the poles and also gives her something for forward focus. Previously I’ve used a toy on the ground but with her it just increased speed and arousal. So while it helped her forward focus, she still wanted to get out to get them. The success rate is so much higher with this and if she did fail, I would just go and do the exit and reward then try again. Future sessions I will start trying not to do the exits first and go straight to 12 poles and see what we get. Also as she gets the idea more I will move the bowl further away so she will have more exit speed and eventually transition to equipment like a jump or tunnel. I also need to start adding more handler stuff to make sure I can run different places as well. The bowl will help a lot with teaching distance on them too! Love these rubber bowls for so many things!

25.01.2022 I am doing an order through 4MyMerles of Red Dog leads. These are really some of the best made leads around and I have one that is at least 4 years old and used daily and still in great condition! Colours will be teal and dark purple with silver writing. Name of the dog will be on the handle. One of my students has kindly offered to bring them back when she visits Canada so that we save on the postage. This however means I will have to limit the number to how many she can ca...rry! So first in best dressed :D I still dont have an accurate price because we can get different discounts depending on the number ordered, but we are pretty close to 15% off number right now, with my local students. So it wont be as high as the price on the order form says as the max price. Let me know if you have any questions. Want to get this order to the company by the end of tomorrow. See more
24.01.2022 With all this extra time at home, I thought it was time I started a blog. Will try to do it weekly and put some handy training tips or general thoughts that pop into my head that I think might help others! This blog is a little intro, into my new puppy diary course thats open for registration now too. $80 gets you 8 months subscription and you will get 4 months of daily videos and thoughts from when Brilliant arrived at 8 weeks, until is is 6 months old. For more info on th...e course, click on this link - https://www.rdagility.com/puppydiary In this blog, I talk about how I integrate a brand new puppy/dog into a multi dog household. Its always the part I worry about the most but if you can be thoughtful about how you do it, everything can go smoothly!
24.01.2022 I have been passionate about canine fitness for several years now. When I was young, I was a professional dancer and once I retired, I became certified human fitness trainer and I taught in gyms for several years. This gave me a great background in movement, how to build strength and how important flexibility and joint mobility is. Recently I received my qualification as a CPCFT (Certified Professional Canine Fitness Trainer) through the Fenzi Dog Sports Academy and Debbie T...orraca. As I made plans for my first proper online canine fitness workshop, I realised that it should be for senior dogs given we have 3 dogs over 10 now. The pretty black and white girl here, has just turned 13, so I made sure to come up with some super safe exercises for her older body too. The exercises in this workshop are carefully designed to be safe enough for an older dogs body, while helping to make them strong and mobile for their senior years. One of my other strengths is dog training! Over the years I have come up with all the tricks to help get correct form with reward placement being so important. Just some minor tweaks and an exercise can go from terrible to looking fab. While I have called this workshop Seniors Fitness, it will most definitely benefit anyone that needs to take their dog through some core foundation exercises to teach great form and function to their dogs. So it's open to any ages for sure! This 12 week workshop has both audit and working spot options. I will create a FB page for people to post their videos for feedback as well. Anyone that chooses the working spots we will be able to tweak exercises to suit your dogs more personally as well! For more info go to - https://red-dog-agility.thinkific.com/cours/seniors-fitness
23.01.2022 These are all the toys I have left from SWAG now. Both the swirl balls and the orange chuck it balls have nice weight for accurate toy rewarding when throwing too. And loads of dogs love the holee balls and the handles are great to prevent biting

These diaries give you a really detailed look into how our training sessions go and you will get to see all the good and bad bits. For those already in my puppy diary you can choose the cheaper $60 price on the PayPal button. 19.01.2022 Im running a toy play workshop this Sunday the 6th of Oct. Ran this session with some of my students and it was cool to see all the dogs improving. This is for anyone that plays with toys with their dogs not just for those struggling to get toy play. In agility, we have been taught toy play that adds a lot of frustration to all dogs and little tweaks in how you play can help so much! I can even help with those dogs that dont want to let go of the toy or get crazy with their tugging. Lots of great tips Ive learnt over the last couple of years thanks to Keen again :)
18.01.2022 Chin targets are my number one thing to train puppies these days. Use them for so many things and Keen is demonstrating how super they are for standing rehab/strength exercises. Helps promote stillness and I can control the position of their weight so much better too. Clever boy Also use them for arousal testing/calming behaviour as they work so good with that too. Great to ask for them with toys or mid agility to check if they can do controlled behaviours.
17.01.2022 Teenage Diary is only open for registration until the 14th of Sept. This video shows all the little things we are working on so far! This diary covers Brilliants training from 8 - 12 months and we will be getting into more of the fun stuff now he is getting stronger. Ive also opened Puppy Diary up again for registration and if you buy both you get a discount! These are both super value for all the information you will get on how I train my dogs. Each diary is only $80 and... you get a $20 discount if you buy both. Previous Puppy Diary participants have said they loved how much I share :) Website link for more info or to purchase is in the comments

17.01.2022 Do you go into training sessions with a plan on how things will go smoothly and you will stay connected with your dog? Here’s a quick way to help reduce frustration with failure in a session. I’m pretty big on keeping things moving and quick when a dog gets something wrong. This will help prevent dogs learning behaviours that you don’t want to accidentally train into agility. Like barking, sniffing, shutting down just to name a few! ... In this session, I’m working on Brill’s slice jumping for the first time. I deliberately start out with not much motion and using food rewards and then I will build to more motion and toy rewards. The platform serves a dual purpose. Great for clear criteria for their stays but also becomes and super quick reset as well. Here you can see I send him back when he misses the jump and then I change something about what I was doing, to help him be right. Then each go, I increase my movement and try to move my position further down the line as well. Even when he gets it right the platform is such a nice way for him to know where to go back, to start the next rep. Imagine that this was done with a sit stay set up. I would have to take the time to go all the way back to the start with him and get him lined up again and then lead out again to release him. So much more time to do this. He would also have more waiting in position, which would also increase the possibility of him breaking his stay as well. The pre requisite required for this to work, is that he has a lot of value for getting on the platform, sitting and staying. I used this a lot in his stay sessions when he was a baby. Without these skills, this would not be such a nice clean loop. What other ideas do you have, to help your training sessions stay smooth and connected?

16.01.2022 Blog post about teaching dogs offered engagement and focus! Find out why the usual advice of "be more exciting than the rabbit" isnt the answer. What are your dogs major distractions? For most of my dogs its moving things! Herding dogs hey? ;)
15.01.2022 How lucky am I, that I got to work in this venue last week?? Its taken me a few days to recover and catch up with dog exercising etc but I had a super time teaching for four days for Canine Education Australia in Sydney. Lisa and Mark looked after me so well, as usual. This time felt even more special, as I saw so many little moments that made my heart sing. Often my job is less about actual agility and more about the little things that can make all the difference for each ...team. During the four days, I saw improvements in everyone and so many times I felt a little teary watching as people managed to make amazing leaps forward in all sorts of areas. This was my last seminar away for the year, so it was a super one to end on Currently planning next years seminars and the dates are filling fast. Contact me if you want to try to organise something. 15.01.2022 I ran a toy play workshop with my students a few weeks ago and I was super happy to see the improvements with the dogs in the session. So Im opening up a session to everyone else! Date is next Sunday the 6th of October. Limited to 8 working spots. This workshop is helpful for both ends of the spectrum - dogs who dont seem to love to play with toys and also dogs that get too aroused. We will work on techniques that help the dogs enjoy the games much better and stop them getting frustrated. There will also be ways you can combine a couple of the toy games to test arousal levels and discrimination cues. Really great for proofing where your dogs head is at too! Ive learnt so much great info about toy play over the last couple of years and would love to share it with you! Any questions let me know :)
14.01.2022 Only a few more days to get your order in for the supporters shirt! I really love the look of them. Dont tell anyone but I like them better than our team uniforms

13.01.2022 Now that I have been certified as a canine fitness trainer (CPCFT) I have added sessions on to my booking system for this! If you would like an assessment on your dogs current fitness and strength and how they are using their bodies, then book the initial consult. Included in this, is a tailored program to take home and work on specific exercises to help improve their weaknesses and help them be even better, in any sport they are participating in.
12.01.2022 Our crazy but gorgeous girl Kwyk turned 13 this month! Let's celebrate our beautiful older dogs and post your pics on here for me to see <3 If you want to join us in the fitness workshop I created just for her, click here - https://courses.rdagility.com/courses/seniors-fitness... This workshop is created to be safe enough for an older dog to do and was created especially for dogs over 8 years old, as they lose natural condition and strength. Also will suit anyone that needs to learn how to do exercises properly and tricks to make sure they have fantastic form and build muscle correctly as well. 12.01.2022 Do you find teaching stillness and duration in behaviours hard with your dog? Here’s a great tip I learnt from Sara Brueske! It’s a game changer, particularly for this boy who likes to get all frantic and crazy offering things For most of the tricks I show doing it with and without zen hand. You can see how frantic he gets without it and need volume to hear the growls etc as well. With zen hand he just gets so much more clarity about the correct behaviour I want and offers... stillness and duration easily! Zen hand is an extension of Susan Garrett’s It’s Your Choice game. Takes it to a whole other level! When training IYC these days I choose a position like sit or drop initially and have the hand up high so it’s not right in the dogs face and super hard for them to think. I have a bunch of food in the hand and open hand means your address doing it correctly. Closed hands means you’re not. In a sit or drop, where they can hold position and take food, I would keep my hand open and reward with my other hand taking pieces from the open hand. If they leave position at any point, I just close hand and either wait for them to get back into it or I might verbally cue if it’s taking them a bit. For all of the tricks on here, Keen needs to stop the trick to eat the food, so I close my hand while rewarding until he is doing what I want again. Post a pic of your dog that could really benefit from this technique!
11.01.2022 Ive been working on so many of Kwyks excitement triggers the last week. Seeing so much progress! If I stop her crazy stuff, the whole household will calm down a lot as she triggers everyone else Funny thing is, I actually think most of her stuff is about controlling chaos. Little does she know, she causes most of it in the first place Although might also be all part of her plan. Cause the chaos, act to control it. Self reinforcing cycle haha What unwanted behaviours do you need to work for every day life? Maybe I will have some ideas that might help. Also if you are already working on something, how are you approaching it?
11.01.2022 Dont forget to sign up to my events group below as it is where I announce any upcoming training either in person or online. I also announce on this page but FB likes to withhold that info trying to get me to pay to boost it :/ So I created a group as they are much better at notifying most that are on it.
10.01.2022 Often training is more about home stuff than agility. Bright is really over aroused by swimming and its taken us a long time to get to this point. What she does at the beginning ,is how she would like to swim It was also initially impossible to get her to come out of the pool. When she was young, I only did it with a long line, so I had control over getting her out. Initially I had planned to reward her with going back in, if she came out and could do behaviours but quickl...y saw that jumping in is a huge trigger for biting the water. So abandoned that very quickly! She also has to have lots of self control moments leading into getting to go in. So happy with where she is at now, even though I do have to be in the water to get this sort of swimming. Hopefully with enough practice we will get there with that too! Luckily its so crazy hot right now, its easy for me to go in with her See more

08.01.2022 This kid is learning his nose touches for contact training. We started out with teaching the nose touch to the target in our hand and then moved it down on to the ground. All this was done on it's own first. Then I moved to him being in 2o2o and doing it with me in front of him and I was sitting to keep his head and thoughts low. Next I moved myself to standing and changed my position to beside him more but that caused twisting towards me. So we moved to what you see at the... start of this video, having a piece of food on the ground so he can nose touch and then get released to the food for good nose touches. This keeps his focus forward while I am behind or beside him. Yesterday we tried it for the toy at the end and loved his extra bit of drive for the toy too. Training can look easy when experienced trainers are doing it but it's because we realise that there's a bunch of pre requisites a dog needs to know to progress. Brilliant already has the concept of focus forward, knowing where his back feet are in 2o2o, self control when something you want is out in front and waiting to be released to it, release words without hander movement. I also wanted to note for those that are training with food how you can be more active to help make it fun and keep your dogs interest. You will see I add motion and a bit of chasing me after he gets the piece of food off the ground and it's like I am treating food like it's a toy. I see a lot of dogs that think this type of training is boring and there are many ways to make it more fun during the in between moments to increase their excitement. See more

Even if you dont have a puppy you will get so much info on dog training in general! Rules - Share this post and also please comment in the original post to say that you have shared. That will help me keep track of everyone! Competition closes Sunday night at 8pm my time. Brand new Teenage Diary is only open for registration until the 14th of Sept and I have also reopened the Puppy Diary for a short time as well. This video shows all the little things we are working on so far! (in Puppy Diary!) How are my diaries different from other agility puppy courses? I am very particular about when a puppy is ready physically and mentally for certain things. I have loads of body awareness exercises that are done without fancy equipment or unstable surfaces that are appropriate for baby dogs. I am also paying lots of attention to his mental state and you will see in real time how I deal with that. These diaries you will see that I am very focussed on balance of his training in anything we do. Ie - can he do stillness and calm work straight after doing fun crazy stuff. This diary will cover Brilliants training from 8 - 12 months and we will be getting into more of the fun stuff now he is getting stronger. Ive also opened Puppy Diary up again for registration and if you buy both you get a discount! These are both super value for all the information you will get on how I train my dogs. Each diary is only $80 and you get a $20 discount if you buy both. You get 8 months access to each of them as well :) Previous Puppy Diary participants have said they loved how much I share. You get to see the unedited good and bad of how each session goes as well! Website link for more info - https://www.rdagility.com/puppyandteenagediary https://youtu.be/_EZlxo5PxU8
04.01.2022 I couldnt have loved this podcast more! These ladies are saying exactly how I feel about training these days and Im loving this direction of positive dog training. I may have become quite emotional, listening through parts of this. For me there were so many messages within this podcast about consent and also consistent and clear communication. The hardest part for a lot of handlers is not pushing on when they get an answer of no or I cant right now. It can be tough to w...alk away but if we want to be true team mates, we should always strive to consider their opinion to matter as much as ours. I loved the bit comparing the difference between giving our dogs a command or asking them a question, as a better way to work with them. For example, not telling them to sit but rather asking them if they CAN sit in this situation. What was your big take away message from this podcast? I want to hear your thoughts and feelings on working with your team mate! See more
04.01.2022 Red Dog Fitness presents - Seniors Fitness! Registration closes on the 4th of January Australian time! I have three dogs over 10, with the eldest girl being 13. As such, I decided it was perfect for my first online fitness course to be all about these special girls! I have done agility for over 20 years now and I have become passionate about trying to help my dogs to age better physically. It's such a hard sport and so demanding on their bodies and if we just go back to doing... walks and not much else with them, it's not enough to help keep them mobile and strong into their old age. Course benefits - - safe age appropriate exercises - tips on how to help with reward placement to achieve correct form and movement - examples of how little tweaks can make all the difference - examples of what not to do - exercises aimed at increasing joint mobility and building strength to protect the major joints as they age - working or audit spots available - working spots get much needed feedback to adapt exercises to make them easier or harder depending on the dog - limited equipment needed and you will be able to source or easily make something at a low cost - no expensive balance equipment required - how to look for signs of fatigue - great mini course for anyone just starting out on the basics regardless of the dogs age Bonus! Throughout the 3 months, I will be posting some of the sessions with the girls, so you can see in real time, how I might adapt things or when it's necessary to stop due to fatigue. Each girl has a different structural weakness and/or old injury, requiring me to amend things and help them with their balance and form. Maria Thiry CPCFT Course is available here with more info on the exercises covered - https://courses.rdagility.com/courses/seniors-fitness Exercises are simple for the oldies but it's the execution of them and what to look out for and avoid that's key! All this is covered in my instructional videos and then will be touched on even more, when I post the girls sessions on the FB group. Any questions let me know! Also please make sure to get sign off from your regular body work person or vet before purchasing. Gem (10 years old) showing off her stretches .

03.01.2022 Im so thankful that we have this place to take our dogs. Its so amazing for their mental needs. In this country, its super hard to find a place like this with all the council restrictions about off lead activities. There are ways to try and emulate this within city spaces, like creating food searches around buildings or parks or some places you could use a harness and long line. Show me some ways that you try to decompress your dogs. Would love to share some new ideas for those that are struggling!
03.01.2022 I am going to be a seller of Inside-Out probiotic from Evolution Animal Care! I loved this product for all of my dogs and Ive had trouble finding one that suits them all before. So I am going to do a bulk order for anyone that wants to pick it up locally! I dont want to keep a lot in stock, so the plan is to order on behalf of everyone. The company also sells an MSM joint product if anyone is interested in that. I can add it to the form if someone would like to try that! ...Price is - 40 grams $18 125 grams $44 250 grams $70 1 kg $250 To pre order, fill out this google form - https://forms.gle/mJahGrwZcPFw1Zu5A See more
02.01.2022 Toys are selling fast! Ive become the Australian distributor for SWAG and just love the quality and how much they know what dogs love. There are even a couple of food toys still available too. In as many cases as I can, I will try to get toys to people without postage but if you arent near me there will be postage on top of the cost of toys. I will be down in Sydney in June and up in Townsville in July if that helps! Note if you are wondering on colour options I have written below all the colours that are left. Blue and purple going fast!
