24.01.2022 Subina Sarki's family have now a toilet block in their home. The family of 8 from Banethok, Syangja are very happy for the contribution to their family from people of Australia. More updates soon. @ Banethok

24.01.2022 Covid-19 is having a massive impact on Nepal’s remote and poor communities. The country’s been in total lockdown to control the virus for many months, and that has seriously impacted some families’ livelihoods. For many families, income has completely stopped, and they are forced to rely on the good will of others to survive. At REACH for Nepal (RFN) we are committed to helping struggling families through Covid-19, through ‘Livelihood Support’ packages.... Today, in the village of Banethok, Syangja - with the help of village elders, local & RFN volunteers, we were able to distribute groceries to 40 families that's likely to last around 3 weeks. AUD $40 buys a family basic groceries for 3 weeks. We are continuing to assist those in need in Nepal & we would like to thank you for all your generous donations. If you would like to contribute to our efforts in Nepal, or would like to know more - please visit our website. Namaste REACH For Nepal Foundation

19.01.2022 Hello It's our first post in a little while after our Gala Dinner had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope everyone is well, doing the right thing over the long weekend, listening to the authorities and looking after yourself and the people around you. We would like to thank the community for accepting the cancellation in such short notice and also thank the people who donated the gala dinner ticket to the foundation. This assisted us to pay for already incu...rred expenses in planning the event. This year is going to be a quiet year for the foundation as most of our trips & projects for 2020 are now postponed. The foundation is using this opportunity to do some groundwork to further extend our fundraising capabilities in Australia and at the same time strengthen our governance and reporting both in Australia & Nepal. This will enable us to be in a strong position to continue and extend the work in Nepal as soon as it is possible. Once again, thank you to all who contributed to the Gala Dinner including our sponsors (listed on our web site) and volunteers. Special thank you to Gina O'Brien who assisted us in planning the event. We plan to schedule the Gala Dinner again in March next year! Namaste REACH for Nepal Foundation

17.01.2022 Our friends & sponsors Macpac are gearing up for a fun (and free!) night of workshops, gear advice and spot prizes at their Majura Park store this 25th! Want to learn how to properly fit a pack, or pick the best hiking boots for your needs? They have got all the answers to get you ready for your next adventure (to Nepal?) Meet brands like Salomon, Scarpa and Sea to Summit, listen to inspiring guest speakers and connect with other adventure lovers.

14.01.2022 We would like to thank Macpac Australia for donating goods for auction on the upcoming gala dinner - 17 Mar. The event itself is almost sold out now. We use Macpac co-branded fleece on some of our trips to Nepal and they are super comfortable. Last year, Macpac donated three pallets of goods which has now been taken to Nepal by volunteers and almost everything have been distributed to the most needed at the remote villages of Western Nepal.... We are looking forward to more collaboration in the future.

14.01.2022 RFN organises multiple trips a year to Nepal including trips for Canberra School & Universities and one for the general public (in October of each year) all of which have now been postponed. #reachfornepal

13.01.2022 It’s been a tough year for all of us and although we haven’t been able to travel to Nepal to participate on development projects, we have provided humanitarian aid to families in remote villages that have been particularly affected by the pandemic. Typically this has been in the way of food supplies, but recently all 36 students at the Janajyoti Adharbhut School were given a tracksuit together with a REACH for Nepal bag during a small function at the School Assembly. It came ...as a relief for many families who are already doing it tough due to the economic impact of Covid in the villages and as winter sets in Nepal. Over coming years, RFN will continue to support this village with a number of development projects that have been identified through discussions with the school and village committees and are aligned with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Thank you for your contributions and assistance throughout the year and we would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas. REACH For Nepal Foundation

12.01.2022 Cancellation of REACH for Nepal Gala Dinner 2020 Hi All Due to a revised assessment of the risks associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19), and the significant impact of these risks (i.e. if one person was to be later diagnosed all attendees would be quarantined or worse still get sick), we regretfully advise that the REACH for Nepal Gala Dinner scheduled for Tuesday the 17th March will be cancelled. It is very unfortunate that we need to make this call, but believe this to ...be the most responsible decision to protect the health of all of you who have generously supported the foundation. The implications of calling the event off at this late notice is significant, including estimating the costs incurred to date (i.e. food, hall hire, insurances, liquor license etc). We were really excited to showcase the work of the foundation and our vision and plans for the future. If you’d like to donate your ticket price, we can ensure this valuable work can continue. But we understand if you’d like to seek a refund and we will endeavour to return as much to our supporters as possible. Please let us know how you’d like to proceed. We have cancelled the event for this year rather than postponed it for a number of reasons including the uncertainty of the extent to which the virus will impact us here in Australia, the unlikely availability of the Albert Hall later this year, and the logistics of organising another event in these uncertain times. All indications are that this year's event would have been our best yet, but we hope you understand our decision on this and we plan to continue the momentum of the work of the foundation with your continued support at the earliest opportunity. Kind regards Lou and Lachhu REACH for Nepal Foundation reachfornepal.org

11.01.2022 REACH for Nepal Foundation organised a walk to Square Rock on the 18th April 2021 exclusively for people (& their families) who have travelled to Nepal with the foundation over the last 5 years. The aim of the walk was to re-establish the connection of like-minded people and also fundraise to provide humanitarian aid at a time it is most needed in Nepal. Collectively as a group, we were able to raise $900. Thank you to Deanna and the team from More Than Mortgages for sponsoring the lunch for the event. The day turned out perfect for the walk. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped us fundraise. There were a few people who missed the walk and we hope you can make it in future as we plan to make this an annual event.

09.01.2022 Our 3rd edition of the gala dinner is on 17 March 2020 at Albert Hall, Yarralumla, Canberra. 06.01.2022 Child trafficking in Nepal is a sad reality, and REACH for Nepal fully supports bodies like ‘Forget Me Not’ for helping to break the cycle by exposing scam charities and reunifying families. Nepal is a country of enormous need, and sometimes delivering aid programs isn’t easy against a backdrop of corruption where things aren’t always as they seem. The REACH for Nepal Foundation encourages anyone wanting to help, to thoroughly research their chosen charity. Ask some ke...y questions: what are your child protection policies? Where is my money going? Are you accredited with the Nepali and Australian governments? If you’re considering volunteering, consult the Australian Government’s Smart Volunteering resources: https://www.dfat.gov.au//vol/Pages/smart-volunteering.aspx and for further information about the work RFN does with community rebuilding projects in Nepal, visit https://www.reachfornepal.org/

05.01.2022 Nepal announces temporary suspension of visa on arrival from March 7 to prevent coronavirus outbreak. This might affect volunteers travelling to Nepal this year with us.

04.01.2022 We would like to thank Mont Adventure Equipment for donating goods for auction on the upcoming gala dinner on 17 Mar. The event itself is almost sold out now. Mont has been supporting the foundation since 2015. We can highly recommend Mont gears, they are one of the best for the conditions in the mountains of Nepal.... Thank you Mont Team for your support throughout the years.

03.01.2022 During the Covid-19 pandemic, Nepal has been under a strict lockdown, cutting off sources of income for many tens of thousands of people who now rely on stockpiled food or charity to survive. RFN has committed to supporting needy families in our project villages in western Nepal, with cash donations to help them through the difficult months to come. $500 donated by Captain Vijay will assist 8 families to buy basic groceries for an entire month. If you’d like to join Captain... Vijay Lama in supporting our Covid-19 relief efforts, get in touch, or donate through our website, https://www.reachfornepal.org/ Namaste

01.01.2022 We are expecting around 250 people to attend the REACH for Nepal Gala dinner on Tuesday the 17th March which is well within the government’s recent announcement of public gathering for events. So at this stage we are planning for the Gala dinner to proceed. If there is a dramatic change in the situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we will need to reconsider. We will confirm or otherwise our plans on Facebook on Tuesday morning or earlier if necessary. ... Thank you
